I have only watched the show, I have not read any of the books. Now having seen the show I am somewhat interested in reading them.

Anyway, so is it the dragons that will save the world from the white walkers, or the white walkers that will save it from the dragons?

Given what goes on in the story, one might be naive to think it will have a "happy ending". I like the theories I've read about what possibly might happen though.

Martin has stated that the series will have a "bittersweet ending," so make of that what you will. It probably means that a handful of characters will actually survive.

I don't think any single character will have a "happy ending". I do think there will be status quo established for the world at the end of the story.

tl;dr, everybody dies.

But the White Walkers will make zombies out of dead dragons and they will breed and the planet will be covered in undead dragons, so that's nice.

It seems the last episode of season 4 will have the battle of the Night's Watch and the Wildlings:

Here's the latest post from the Making of Game of Thrones blog, which talks about the work going into a huge battle scene for season 4:

Two years ago in a quarry just north of Belfast, the Battle of Blackwater came to life under the keen eye of director Neil Marshall. It was not an easy shoot, requiring nearly a month of night shoots in the unforgiving October weather. The red mud was so churned up by the trucks and the feet of the marauding hordes of extras and crew, that by the end, it was no longer possible to drive anything but the sturdiest of vehicles down to the castle set. Carrying kit out became a challenge of endurance.

Two years and two seasons on, we have returned to a location not far from the first and Neil is back at the helm once more. It's still several weeks of night shoots, and being Belfast, there is still rain, but this time the fight Neil is navigating is not anywhere on the water. The planning of this battle has been taking place for months but unlike any other episode of Season 4, Neil's will be filmed in a very concentrated burst. In fact, for many on the show – including most of the cast and the other directors, their work was complete before filming on this episode had even begun.

Throughout our shooting schedule, our crew and specialist departments are on their toes, but perhaps never more so than this season. This episode has kept the teams in stunts, armoury, prosthetics, SFX and VFX particularly busy, with camera tests and stunt rehearsals happening for several weeks beforehand.

As always, I can't give too much away, but a little hint won't hurt: Although this battle will not be laden with wildfire, I can say you've never seen an army like this on 'Game of Thrones.'

We already know that Marshall's directing the final episode of season 4, and he's said that it'll feature the battle between Night's Watch and Mance Rayder's Wildling army at Castle Black, so that's likely what's being referenced in the blog entry.

Win... I hope. Blackwater was a bit disappoint, but then, it was the first sorta real battle they had, so idk :wacky:. It won't get LotR-scale awesome anyway. Which is a shaem.

A Hertfordshire town is set to celebrate the DVD release of American network HBO’s Game of Thrones third series next month with its own unique tribute.

Kings Langley, which lies just north of Watford, will change its name to King’s Landing, after the hit show's fictional city of the same name.

The changes to the town’s two main signs will last only seven days, between 17 and 24 of February, but borough councillor Alan Anderson hopes that the move will help to boost the area's profile.

“This re-naming is a great opportunity to put Kings Langley and Dacorum on the map,” he told Hemel Today.

They probably don't want to go a full season without including Theon at all, which is what they'd end up doing if they did a straight adaptation of the books. Remember, he didn't appear in A Storm of Swords or A Feast for Crows at all, but they're probably just spreading out his story from A Dance with Dragons over three or four seasons.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm still two seasons behind this show, It's been so long since I watched season 1 I think I'm going to have to re watch that first :monster: I'm missing so much, I'll watch them all before Season 4 airs.

Looks Like I've found out what I'll be doing for my week off work :D
