How can you enjoy this game?

You realize you aren't the first person to dislike it, yes?

Of course i'm not, it was this game's hatedom and fandom that made me get the game.

As far as it being "one of the worst games of all time" goes, even if I thought you actually believed it was at a "Kabuki Warriors"-level of bad -- and I don't believe you think that so much as I believe you're just trying to get a rise out of people on this forum -- it would never be sorted into such a classification by any objective party.

I Played the game and I wrote down every flaw.

The same as even someone who hates The Beatles' music would never try to claim that they were objectively one of the worst bands of all time if they themselves were being objective. You can dislike something all you want without resorting to baseless nonsense.

I was not using baseless nonsense you drone.

Hell, I'm so sick of zombie shit I could happily go without seeing any of it ever again. I wasn't even impressed with "The Walking Dead" when the comic was still a relatively new thing. That being said, I would be epically full of shit if I said either the comic or the TV show are contenders for being among the worst of their respective mediums.

Well why don't you watch them yourself?

If you're just here to rile up blind fanboys, you're kind of wasting your time. The people who frequent this forum are mostly mellow adults in their mid-20s to mid-30s who recognize that FFVII had plenty of design flaws, but still appreciate it for what it is.

Well then what is FFVII? An MST3K-grade laugh fest?

Hell, most of the discussion on this forum isn't even about the game.

It's not? good. I'm told FFVIII has improved a bit. A BIT.

I can't read the article because I's not a member at DeviantArt, but I found this and thought it apt.

Also, if anyone perhaps knows why I can't insert inline images anymore and could offer advice, that'd be great.

Citing a lack of cutscenes that can be skipped in an RPG from 1997 is pretty baseless nonsense, dude.

And using a hyperbolic description like "one of the worst games of all time" when shit like "Kabuki Warriors," "Superman: The New Adventures" (a.k.a. Superman 64) and "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing" exists is, yes, baseless nonsense.

I have. It's a well-written show. Has good acting. Good production values. I just don't really care for it because it's not my kind of thing.

I'm not going to resort to absurd hyperbole about it being the worst program on TV, though.

Flones? Drunkies?? DRUNKIES!!! (Drunk might explain a lot of things) This sounds like the most terrible of ship names and I wasn't even trying. Somebody get me away from this thread.

I always found that the best way to appreciate an older game is to put yourself in the mindset of the time it was made. I only just played FF7 last year, but I was pretty amazed with what they managed to do with the technology. The game has a cinematic quality that even games today lack, if you ask me, and the writing struck me as very genuine (baring shit translation) compared to the later Final Fantasy games.

Those are some of the reasons I liked it, anyway.

TBH most of you guys played FFVII when it was new and instead of "fucking weird" it was "quirky", :monster:.

I get what you're saying. And I can see how some might get that watching older films or books, such as how newer readers interact with random extracts of the Old testament for instance.

But with video games, I don't see it. You need to invest time to adapt to the software. Because of this fact you must be able to see the angle it's coming from and the creative choices made. While the Wall Market sequence appears left field (superficially speaking), when you examine if properly the character has already been shown to be malleable by jumping onto a speeding train, pushing the barrels in the church attic, and the creeping out of Aerith's house at night mini-game.

I played VII after VIII and IX. The graphics are pretty awful, but the story is genuinely interesting and different. It's nowhere close to being my favorite FF, but it's definitely not shit. It just has its flaws like every other game.

Speaking of older graphics ... I miss the older generation of FF games where the lack of voice acting and bad graphics meant the developers had to rely on more detailed body language to get across how the characters felt. I think the later FFs don't really hold a candle up to VII/VIII (and maybe IX? I can't remember much of that game) in that department -- keeping in mind I haven't played anything after XII.

OMG, that's what I've had nagging at the back of my mind since the drones lulz happened. I just couldn't put my finger on it till now. Thank you Red, you have just saved my sanity :awesome:

Let me stop you there. Do I have to say again that the Need for Speed looks, plays and sounds better than FFVII?

I Agree with the poor graphics part, but the storyline is nonsensical. The word "fantasy" is not a license to go full retard. The Hobbit, or There and Back Again made perfect sense and that was fantasy. That and the mangled gameplay and SNES-like sound made me wonder if the Squaresoft QA team simultaneously resigned to start a shotgun tasting business.

Dude seriously, what is your beef with this game?

Explain how the story is nonsensical, don't just say it is, explain it.

Stop going on about the graphics, it's game that came out in 1997, for it's time it was graphically pretty sound fastforward some.....17 years later yeah they look awful on the field. The battle graphics (have you even seen some of the summoning sequences) and the FMVs are actually quiet beautiful (Motorchase scene is one of my favourites in the entire game). You've got to also remember this was Square's first FF in 3D, there was a lot of elements to play with and test and you know what the pixel block characters are quite endearing and brilliant in context to certain scenes imagine playing Wall Market in a remade version, the comedy I'll be honest would be lost.

Next, can you stop comparing them to racing games, it's already been explained why the graphics on a racing game look smoother and better, so get that comparison and notion out of your head, if I was in love with graphics FFIV wouldn't be my favourite FF ever made and I'd probably think IX sucked balls (my second favourite)

You know what I really hate people like you who think the word "fantasy" is bogged down to one term, anything that could be considered not to make sense outside the terms of our reality can be considered fantasy.

Somone remind me why I'm still coming in here to argue.

Before you also continue on your little crusade of the FF games being the OK for the term fantasy to go insane, Final Fantasy as a series it's also steeped in mythological references and there's lots of references to Greek, Norse, Roman and other mythologies, that includes VII, if you bothered to do any research on the series, these are all elements that help make up a fantasy genre again if you bothered to do any research, not to mention magic is used in every single game another fantasy element.

So FFVII isn't your cup of tea, we get that, but seriously do some research before you start thinking of the series as insane in terms of the fantasy genre.

I might be probably speaking for all of us when we say that we have higher standards for trolling than this. I don't think we're feeding you because we're mad, we just don't like kicking puppies while they're down.

Bring your A-game, man! If you really want to be an asshole, spend some time on 4chan or something. Figure out how the pros do it, then come back.

Or not. We'd be fine with that too :monster:
