According to some (don't quote me on that, I just went around looking on it before getting the film), the film is similar in many ways to Pocahontas and James Cameron's 'epic' film Avatar. I'd say it does but it lacks what those two have: an engaging story and good characters, but at any rate it could have been pulled and executed better, the characters look bland and the story isn't as solid and I got bored even in the first half. I can't recall what the hell I was watching, a tragic fact on how amazingly boring it was, I like its attempts to make the humans look like the bad guys however but it becomes amazingly silly on the way to the end, hell I even skipped parts to see if it was remotely interesting as I heard. Maybe it's just the character's designs that gets me, the main character and her race looks like Casper made love to Ariel and created an entire species out of their kids or some shit and the humans look amazingly odd and too robotic, more like a cartoonish Terminator or Mr. Incredible than actual humans. All in all, I don't really recommend this movie because it puts you to sleep at some points and they fail to actually convey their Aesop across. =[ I could go on more about how stupid the human's terraforming plan would go but it's better to leave it lie lol.

Avatar had good characters? Did we watch the same film? They were all cliched.

Angels & Demons

This is probably a controversial stance to take on this film (and its predecessor The Da Vinci Code) but I liked it. Not a whole lot, but they were still pretty good films. Not particularly good for characters, and even the mysteries themselves were pretty pedestrian. But much like the (poorly written) books they were adapted from they're pretty enjoyable thrillers, ones that don't require much brain power to watch and enjoy. Its really not a good idea to think too hard about the way 'antimatter' is portrayed on film here too, though is probably more the fault of poor research on the part of Dan Brown than any fault of the film itself.

The adaptation is by and large a pretty faithful one, and given that the film is set in Vatican City, the backdrops to a lot of the movie is stunning and is a joy to watch when coupled with the excellent cinematography.

The most curious aspect of this film is the simply bizarre dissonance created by the booming, classical choir of the soundtrack and the often mundane activities being portrayed on screen. It can get really quite bizarre at times when the soundtrack's equivalent of O Fortuna is playing whilst the characters are doing something as ordinary as getting into a car, or opening a book in the library.

Dumb, but perfectly serviceable film.

Well! to me that Sigourney Weaver character was alright! It's better than NO GOOD CHARACTERS? xD
Good actress, shame about the role.

Finally got around to seeing scott pilgrim vs the world.
Personally i thought it was really well done, the characters all done a really convinving job of portraying their comic book adaptions with Knives and Scott taking the win.
Not to mention the fact I would knob knives in most of the scenes she appeared in :P

Anyyyyyyway, overall good movie lots of geek references involving gaming which made it even better IMO even if my mrs didnt quite get them :P

MACHETE

Exactly what I was hoping for when I originally saw the (then fake) trailer with Grindhouse. Tons of ridiculous fun. Didn't stay QUITE as tight and intense at the end as it did at the beginning, but it fits in an odd sort of way.

Some Epic moments:
Machete swinging out a window, using a guy's intestines as a rope.
Man with the meat thermometer in his neck.
Lindsay Lohan's surprise tits. :awesome:
Truck with hydraulics bouncing up and landing on a guy.

Under The Red Hood

Only real complaint was Di Maggio as Joker. He did a good job, but it didnt quite fit him to me. I get the feeling it'll grow on me with repeat viewings tho.

Resident Evil Afterlife:total retard. Not in a good way either.

Machete: total retard. In a good way. It's also nice to see Danny Trejo in a role that isn't generic mexican gangster/bad guy.

But lolwat @
that naked chick pulling a phone out of her freaking vagina. This film was worth it though, just to see Steven Segal die. Hated his shitty wannabe mexican accent though

Jessica Alba is terrible in this film though, fuck was she always this bad an actor? Michelle Rodriguez is fucking HOT in the later half of this movie.

I watched Iron Man 2 again. I do not like this films version of the Black Widow and I really don't think Scarlet fit the role in the least. I didn't like Rhodey's replacement much either. Otherwise it's still an enjoyable film just for Downey Jr.

Finally watched my The Dark Knight DVD. Somehow, I enjoyed Ledger's performance even more this time around than I did in the cinema.

I still think it sucks how Nolan kept the original Bat film series' trick of conveniently killing off villains at the end of it.

Coincidentally, I watched it too last night.

In glorious 1080p HD, off course, :monster:. Somehow though, the only thing that struck me as prettier than DVD quality were the buildings (skyscrapers etc) - the rest didn't really stand out big. Oh sure, there's facial details, but I guess one gets used to that rather quickly.

I actually watched The Dark Knight on TV 2 nights ago, :monster: Quite the enjoyable ride, of course, but not the master stroke of comic-book-film brilliance of all time that everyone should drool over on their DVD stand bolted to a silver-plated trophy base

wow that was awful specific

But yeah, great stuff but Heath Ledger was highly overrated tbh.

Your mother is highly overrated. Or something.

Began watching my old favourite Dog Soldiers... and then the DVD player started jumping randomly. :(

Still, Sean Pertwee = win.

Moving on to Kung Fu Hustle.

Ledger!Joker? Overrated?! Bitch, sit down!

I saw Sherlock Holmes. Finally.
Honestly, I'm not too impressed, but Jude Law and RDJ were spectacular and their interactions carried the whole movie. If someone else had been cast, the entire thing would be a snoozefest, no different than any other summer blockbuster with huge things exploding.

Honestly, that slow-mo when
Watson's caught in the explosion
bugs the hell outta me. So drawn out and unnecessary and not at all effective in invoking the sense of guilt Holmes feels over it latah. Bah.

I wasn't going to give the movie a standing ovation anyway. :monster:

Sherlock Holmes was a fuckton of fun all around. Great action with a ridiculously contrived mystery plot that smacks of Conan Arthur Doyle. Plus, a House-like relationship that's all laughs and awesome bromance. Guy Ritchie on good form.

This is turning into the tamest yo momma battle ever, except any that involves Captain America. His mother was a saint! :P

Disney's Hercules - this was released just as I was hitting puberty. I say this, as one of the first things that struck me was that Megara (sp?) wasn't as hot as I remembered.

James Woods was even more awesome than I remembered.

And I totally missed the fact that Herc's lion skin is Scar from The Lion King the first time around.
