Question. Does the Lizard design look any less stupid in the actual movie?

Depends what you mean by stupid. It's nothing outstanding IMO, but it's all right. Connors retains a human skull when he's the Lizard, almost like Reptile in Mortal Kombat. Not as dinosaur-esque as he is in the comics.

Well, I mean more as in does his face not look as dumb. Like you look at a pic of him, or get a quick shot in the trailer, and he just looks stupid. Wondering if you go with it when it's in action in a shot longer than a second.

Well, he looked more of a human-reptile hybrid rather than just a big walking alligator. I thought he was pretty cool. I didn't think he looked stupid. Depends on what you expect really. I went into the theater with no expectation.

The story is about Connors discovering the reptiles' ability to regenerate their tails once they've been cut off. He was desperate to get his arm back and wanted to get the regeneration ability structure from the reptiles by injecting himself with their DNA. His arm did come back, but of course, there were 'severe side effects'...I'm sure that's pretty much how it was in the comics if I remember correctly, no?

He injects a laboratory mouse at first and it all seems to go well, but later on, the mouse turns into a mouse-reptile hybrid creature and gobbles up his girlfriend.

Wrath of the Titans or something. It was entertaining, but hardly groundbreaking, :monster:. Well, you know, outside of
the biggest big bad I've ever seen in a movie, :monster:

Hunger (2008)

Probably one of the most miserable films ever, but thats not really surprising given the subject matter. Micheal Fassbender is fast becoming one of my favorite actors, as in a proper actor who does proper films.

Anyway its by no means an easy watch full of violent and disturbing scenes but a film about hunger strikes and prison brutality is never going to be a cakewalk. I think maybe I'd have appreciated it more if I had a better understanding of the situation in Northern Ireland back then, but I can't really get my head around it apart from it being a massive shitstorm. So as it stands I take this film as a testament to what a human being can endure/or will put themselves through when they feel they have no other course of action.

Every time I see Hobo with a Shotgun I'm intoxicated and in the company of people more despicably obnoxious than the actual movie. But it's a head trip and a debilitating and challenging movie to watch.

In addition to seeing Prometheus two more times, I caught the Rum Diaries on Netflix which I greatly enjoyed. There are so many lines of knock-out quotable dialogue. A more refined film than Fear and Loathing, although I hear the actual material the film's based on is far from it. It was fun to watch Johnny Depp play a pseudo-jack ass again. I found myself giggling with every little flinch or quirk or nuance he fed the camera. You could tell the movie tried real hard to preserve all the S. Thompsonisms and make that the spirit that he conveyed in his work really shimmer.

The source of conflict in the movie is Aaron Eckhart's character and his sexy as hell fiance played by Amber Heard, who is like-- one of THE MOST sexy new wave actresses on the scene. The conflict and plot points of the movie are a little strange and whenever Depp's Hunter is in the room with Eckhart's seedy cohorts the a lot of the dialogue and situations seem to stem from a sharply different movie. But I think this actually helps the movie, because I think it's supposed to provide a look at slimy corporate maneuverability and Americanization through the eyes of the eponymous Thompson character, who obviously did not feel comfortable in these situations throughout the movie. It's made very evident that he's stuck in Puerto Rico out of necessity/first bite at a job and that, and so he spends the rest of the movie awkwardly trying to catch up to his new way of life and avoid the inevitable recession into gloriously excessive drug use. The movie is about Hunter escaping ensnarement from his awkward, bizarre, sickly romanticism that's been erupted from his new environment. And even though ongoings can be a little tepid, the girth of the film's action still takes place within Hunter's head, and it's just as entertaining to listen to Hunter S. Thompson's mind at work as it's ever been, especially with Depp back under his skin (with hair).

I just saw Brave! It was really cute and totally not what I was expecting. Of course it gave me all of the feels, because happy families fill the loneliness in my heart from not having a real family of my own. ;w;

Brave

A+ as always from Pixar. Plus Im a fan of celtic stuff, so that didnt hurt any. Also, I never thought Id see a zoom in on cleavage in a family movie made by Disney.

I'm gonna have to point to the 'censorship thread' (or w/e it's called) and go "Well wtf is wrong with cleavage?" :monster:

You have to teach young boys where they're supposed to look at at one point, :monster:

As far adat cleave goes, Brave I think is a big step in a different direction. Tonally different than a handful of Pixar movies. Not as much a concept piece as Toy Story or Wall-E or even Monster's Inc. A relatively straight-forward story with memorable characters and a jump from toddler to pre-teen subject matter. Not to say Toy Story 3, Wall-E, or Up aren't mature in their own right, but as far as the plot and presentation: less straight up cutsieness and a bit more edge. That being said, I didn't really care for it. Brave isn't a bad movie, there's nothing at all wrong with it. It's just a bit more derivative than most other Pixar works. I'd compare it tonally as closest to The Incredibles, but I still think that movie's better, or if anything, funnier.

In other news, I saw Crazy Stupid Love with Gosling and Carell and that was fantastic. The best rom-com I can ever recall seeing. It's an ensemble film that really delivers. Great performances. Well-woven story, even though it's aware it follows many rom-com tropes, it still does it cleverly and with more finesse than any I've ever seen. Also, it's made my new life goal to make Ryan Gosling be my bar mate.

Headhunters

Excellent little Norwegian thriller based off a Jo Nesbo novel about a headhunter (a person who conducts important job interviews for businesses) who uses his interviews to determine if people possess valuable works of art and then steals them with the help of a cohort who works at a security firm. He eventually crosses the wrong person and things are even more complicated by a love-quadrangle-thing, shit hits the fan, etc, all-in-all a very enjoyable pic.

Also it stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jaime Lannister) as a different sort of headhunter who is a) hot and b) always a solid villain.

Forget the first movie. Forget it's a super hero movie if you have to. This is an excellent 'Gotta save the son of the devil from the devil' movie with some excellent Cage freakout action.

Just watched Quantum of Solace. Underwhelming. Not bad though. The epicness of both Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and the not badness of Casino Royale may have spoiled my enjoyment of it slightly.

Watched the two parts of The Deathly Hallows after reading the books.

I felt bad when I read how Snape
died
, but the movie version of the same scene made me bawl like an idiot. It got worse when his memories were revealed on screen; that chapter was the only one in all the series that actually made me feel really depressed, but when I saw on the screen
Snape crying while he is holding a dead Lily...
it was too much for me. Me and my stupid attachment to dark, tortured characters.

Damn it, Rickman, why u so tragic? ;_________;
