Wanted

Nice movie, but basically just The Matrix, Fight Club and a bit of Spiderman mixed into one movie, both in terms of story, style, character development, and etc.

Twilight

Yeah. Basically a Spark-Notes version of the book Twilight, with the sparkly vampire (who was supposed to be hot) and danger-magnet girl. It wasn't a very good movie, as movies go, but I think it was a pretty good book-to-movie transition. The things that were left out did not make it difficult to comprehend, and I barely noticed the two side characters that were blended together into one.
The music was awesome.

Defiance

Sort of like the Jewish equivalent of Last Samurai. Not really worth paying money to see it in theaters, but it would be a good rental.

You, Me, and Everyone We Know, directed by Miranda July.

Best parts in the film were probably:

1. Richard (John Hawkes) setting his hand on fire, and
2. the exchanges between Robby and his correspondant while they were chatting online
3. Christine and Richard's surreal conversation as they are walking to their cars.

and a possible 4. the lewd messages Richard's coworker posted on his window to the two slutty preteens.

And I did, belatedly, buy a ticket for Twilight. Even though I walked out of it halfway due to a false family emergency, I had no regrets, and didn't bother to go back to finish the film.

Let's see. The last films I saw were:

Eagle Eye, Some Bruce Li (Bruce Lee clone) kung fu movie, and Shaun of the Dead (again).

Eagle Eye - Not bad. I like Shia, so I s'pose that's why I feel generally positive about it.

Too bad I knew exactly what was gonna happen 20 minutes into the movie. =/

The Bruce Li movie I can't remember what it was -

It was about this bank owner who loses alot to some gang members or something so he seeks the help of some seemingly random blind kung fu master sitting on the street. The blind guy doesn't want to help at first, but Bruce is too determined and eventually gets his way.

Blind man puts him through rigorous training. Each new training Bruce feels a little tougher and decides to try and defeat his opponent.

He eventually does beat his opponent who is butthert and cries to his maste: TIGER!

Tiger ends up being a former student of the blind masters (who knew?) and it soon becomes a case for revenge as he is the one who blinded the master.

The end up in a big fight where Bruce and Blindy beat up Tiger's henchman, as well as Bruce's former friends who switched sides because they were butthert over Bruce firing them from being his kung fu instructors when they had no clue wtf they were doin'.

Fight escalates to a cliffside where Bruce and Blindy combine forces to beat Tiger. Random weapons are used and eventually Bruce and Blindy beat Tiger.

The camera freezes at a shot of Bruce and Blindy jumping in the air to kick Tiger in the faec.

End movie.

I loved it. xD So stereotypical, yet awesome.

Shaun of the Dead - You already know. =)

In theaters?

Twilight. The books are bad, with so many plot holes that you can't even count them. The characters are 2-D at best, the writing isn't good, and the deus ex machina is used a million times. So, I wanted to see what they could pull off with the movie. Well...the movie did it justice, and the movie was pretty bad.

At home, I watched The Lion King. :D

Calling Twilight's characters two-dimensional is giving them far too much credit.

Moulin Rouge.

Still love it.

asdfghjkl; favourite movie D: *is a sap*

Last film I saw was Akira. Third time I've seen the movie, and it's the first time with subtitles :monster: I've seen it dubbed before though. Seeing the movie again after a while has given me motivation to read the manga - apparently, I hear the film is only a section of the whole story?

The goopey fingers on the giant blob Tetsuo never fails to gross me out, though South Park has kind of tainted the seriousness out of the scene D:

Star Trek (9) Insurrection

Sometimes silly with how people fall after being shot or when something explode behind them. Like the previous movie this one shows off a good part of Picard's character but other than the short moment when he defends the inhabitants of a planet there really doesn't seem to be much point with this movie. But I have to admit they do explore some nice facets of Data's and La Forge's characters.
A plentitude of funny moments lifts up the spirit.

While one of the better Star Trek movies it is still a Star Trek movie with the usual silliness and predictability. So far I've felt that the franchise is given greater justice in a tv-series.

Edit: This seems to apply with all series that attempt a transition into movies.

It was really heavily condensed and there were a lot of changes. I could probably write an essay listing what got cut out/changed. Still enjoyed it though. For some reason, I remember going to turn on my lights and not being able to sleep. I watched it in my preteens, so a lot of it was just me weeping with disgust or pity. I'm already craving for a rewatch.

Anyway, I did a repeat of [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwFVc2NAt94"]YouTube - Ping Pong Movie Trailer[/ame]

Best manga ---> live action adaptation I've seen yet.

I'm waiting to get my hands on 20th Century Boys before coming to any conclusions.

Moulin Rouge was amazing, yes. I really should watch it again.

To sum it up for those who haven't seen this film it basically involves arnie and co in a jugle playing hide and seek with a man eating alien (obviously lots of blood and guts flying around the screen so not for the fainthearted) and imho it's a great fucking film.

I think I watched Akira when I was... 13 or 14 the first time. I just remember feeling really sorry for Tetsuo, and crying a little when Kaori died. Shitfux the Tetsuomonster was so scary/gross though D: I still think it's a, amazing film though, even if purely for influence/animation quality alone.

my local library has all the volumes for the manga, so I think I'll look into it as soon as I have some free time.
