So the site (Clerith.com) is now defunct, but if I remember correctly, the argument was that two of the monkeys that you had to pair up in the monkey matching minigame in FF10 - or 10-2 rather - were named summer and winter. This was trotted out as a CLEAR indication that S-E was promoting pairings between a summery and a wintery personality, or C/A.

It's a bad argument, it should feel bad and the person who made it should feel bad.

We have. I remember when slut-shaming Tifa was a major tenet of a lot of C/A arguments I encountered, and some of the semi-troll counter arguments in response (which I took part in I admit, though I was trying to show them how specious and hurtful the arguments were). Fortunately we don't see much of that often. We do see a decent amount of really passive aggressive shit-flinging still though.

I will say that CA is the only pairing I can think of where I "jumped" ship. I almost always go with the canon pairing---except ATLA. I will always ship Zuko and Katara (I still like Aang and Katara though).
Oh and Boys Over Flowers. Why didn't she pick Ji Hoo?

@Rose Alive I respect that. I ship the enemy canon ship in ATLA but can appreciate Zuutara. I think in the end we just gotta always see it as the story going one way doesn't mean all is lost and you can't enjoy your ship or favorite characters.

Cano is literally just the story. It doesn't mean it's better or worse. It's just what happened. If something else had happened it could also be good. But it just didn't and that's ok.

Sadly LTD makes people forget often we're not fighting over the better pair. We're just trying to figure out what happened.

And yeah on BoysOverFlowers I 100% agree.

I'm probably in the very small minority who thinks very little of ATLA, but I also liked Zutara more than the main pair. Apart from not liking Aang all that much, their dynamic struck me as a little odd.

I just had a bit of a brainwave, but I think I get where the comparisons are coming from. They're still so off base, don't get me wrong, but it might be idea of it?

Anyway, what I mean is that basically, Tidus is Yuna's guardian (one of, really) just as Cloud is Aerith's bodyguard. Meanwhile, Aerith is the last Cetra in the planet whereas Yuna is one of the summoners (sure, not the last one, but she is the last one among those who did beat Sin and thus, saves the world like Aerith does by praying to the Lifestream during Meteorfall).

I would go so far to say Yuna/Aerith and Tidus/Cloud have complete opposite personalities.

So sure, compare Aeriths weird cetra magic to Yuna being a summoner... But stop there. Any further comparison is just so incredibly dumb. Comparing the relationships in those games is ridiculous.
