Which is why I took issue with the developers not giving Tifa/Aerith a significant advantage. 95% of players want one of those two dates on their playthrough, not the dog.

I like this actually, makes it harder to make aerith appear more special through association with tifa. If tifa and aerith had had a shared advantage the argument would go: "ofcourse they're equal love interrests, that's why aerith and tifa are specialed out". Right now you can't do that, right now every bond is special, with the point being that not all bonds are the same. Having a date no longer makes one a love interrest.

It never did ofcourse, but how often have we not heard some variation on " it's players choice, you get to go on a date with with either one, as if having a date is somehow the end goal.

Yeah it's weird in general how unbalanced the quest distribution is. Some areas give doubles for some characters and none for the others and whatnot. Would've preferred if each character got the same amount of quests in each area. Also not locking some behind clearing others.

I just want to add to the date conversation that I'm really glad all characters got a date with Cloud. Considering that even in the OG, you could have a date with Barret and Yuffie, it should've been obvious that the dates are just as much about friendship. Now we just got to have a Zack date in P3.

IMO, I think that part will be removed entirely. The idea that the party watched them bang is 90s humor that just wouldn't fly with today's T-rated standards.

At best, I could see it modified, to where maybe Barret comments the next day that Cloud/Tifa seem a little happier/different than usual and the party gets suspicious that something happened, which causes them to get embarrassed. But there won't be a direct implication that the party saw them fuck.

To be honest, when Remake came out, I was a little worried about the fact that Masato Kato wasn't reprising his writing duties for this since I'm quite sure he was responsible for the Highwind Scene in the OG. IIRC, he's responsible for the love scene in Xenogears which is actually rather tasteful (and somehow, very familiar in execution).

I'm trying to think of a modern T-rated game, particularly one developed by Square, that handles sexual themes. Might give us insight on how the highwind scene will be portrayed.

The pessimist in me is saying it won't be as strongly implied as some of you are hoping. That we'll just see a make-out session and the screen will fade to black.

There's been a few sexual innuendos thus far in the retrilogy (Marle's "Big sword, no skills" comes to mind first) and Wall Market of course, so there's "hope" for something that's spelled out pretty clearly. But we'll see, I guess!

I'm trying to think of a modern T-rated game, particularly one developed by Square, that handles sexual themes. Might give us insight on how the highwind scene will be portrayed.

Final Fantasy 14 is rated T and makes frequent mentions of forced prostitution and brothels. You can also obviously unequip clothing and run around in your underwear. Some of the female boss models are "anime topless". I think for a T rating, implying things with dialogue is fair game. Waking up topless under sheets, but not showing anything is probably as far as they can push a T-rating.

Being naked out in the open like FF16 would call for M17+. Comparing FF16 and Rebirth sales also opens up an interesting discussion. Does the rating even matter?

Based on the increase of blood in part 2, as well as some of the more crude dialogue and what they've apparently done in FFXVI, I'd say there is a good chance they'll be more explicit in part 3 than in the OG. Almost have to be tbh or it'd be weird.

Anyway, I have a question, I heard someone say that with Barrets date the first 4 notes of Tifas theme starts playing. Can someone who believes that give me a time stamp where that supposedly happens for the following video? Would like to check if I agree but I can't hear it so thought a more focuses listen might help.
