All those CA scenes are cute and possibly romantic/coupley (especially the ZeLink parallel), I don't need to downplay anything, throwing shade and telling people to throw in the towel aside, I see nothing wrong with enjoying the shots themselves.

They are beautifully rendered, it just kind of annoys me that by ripping them out of context it’s robbing those moments of what really makes them beautiful.

Aerith is saying goodbye to someone special to her, despite her feelings towards him being uncertain. Cloud, regardless of his confusion, is reciprocating that tenderness because he can tell she needs it. Cloud “I’m not your bro” Strife. That’s a big chunk of character growth despite his current mental state.

If it were a game without choices, everyone should have the right to have preferences.

What's not acceptable is forcing your tastes on others.

What's not acceptable is refusing to just respect the game's story and impose your vision on others.

It's as simple as that.

I’m actually hoping that a lack of affinity system in the next game helps a lot more with the side quest progression. I actually want to see side quests where more of the group do things together instead of just “this one is a Tifa quest and this one is a Yuffie quest.”

Just replace it with a "group affinity" to unlock Duo techniques and all but nothing more. You can even use it as story telling when Cloud is gone and there is no team leadership for a time until Barret asks Tifa to step up.

I don't see another way to do it. You can't keep the actual system because the next game is not Cloud centric (if we follow the OG)

Considering part 3 is the part of the story where we spend time in other characters’ boots, I think it’s likely. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Wutai section doesn’t actually have Cloud and Tifa in it or it’s a FF8 moment where Group A goes to one place while Group B goes to the other.

Considering part 3 is the part of the story where we spend time in other characters’ boots, I think it’s likely. Wouldn’t be shocked if the Wutai section doesn’t actually have Cloud and Tifa in it or it’s a FF8 moment where Group A goes to one place while Group B goes to the other.

I think that might be neat. I definitely want Tifa to get more to do as party leader. Cid gets to go after two huge materia in the OG whereas Tifa is only party leader for the search for Cloud.

Because of this, the last time I played, I saved Wutai for when she’s party leader.

I completely forgot about Glen, so Wutai will probably have Cloud around lol but yeah I can see the game needing to have Vincent as leader to hit up Lucrecia’s cave for example.

I don’t think most normal people will mind Tifa being the leader for a portion of the story. It was in the original after all.

Obviously, Cloud will still be the leader for most of the game.

You know.... there's a lot about the original that some people seem to have missed.

And I'm really curious to see if the developers will dare to keep it that way (=Aerith really not present for most of the story).

Maybe. I definitely think we won’t get much of her at least. Enough footage to make a bait trailer, but maybe 3 hours out of 40.

Ah yes, "Were you thinking about another girl?" and "You vs the guy she told you not to worry about" my favorite synergy skills.



I just hope they have moments together and maybe a bit more interactive... Zack moments were "nice" but not very interesting (from a gameplay perspective) for the most part..

I'm someone who wants us to get back to Cloud being the leader ASAP because the players need to have true Cloud the most possible around... or else we're still going to have people not understanding what he's going through.

I think we still need at least 2 chapters without him with stronger ennemies to show people why Cloud is important and why the team needed him even when he started to loose it in Remake/Rebirth.

Same reason I don't want Aerith around. You have to show you miss them with game design.

Wouldn’t mind if the group falls apart post escape from Junon. That way when Cloud returns we’ve gotta “get the band back together” which also means he’s going to need to actively prove he’s not the same loner asshole he started out as.

Definitely want everyone to get a healthy helping of real Cloud so everyone understands ( hopefully ) that enlightened Cloud is a lovable dork, not a tryhard edgelord.

That would be soooo cool. Cloud & Tifa journey to get the band together. When you complete the quest linked to the character you unlock his synergy skill and so on.

I’m sure we’ll be with Cloud for most of the story. I’d say at least 70%. Like the original, we’ll start off with him but he’ll be out after the Northern Cave. Then he’ll be back after the Lifestream sequence.

I just wonder how they’ll structure Wutai into it.

Not really sure how the fragmentation could go down, but I do know Tifa leaving would either be the final straw and the group fragments, or Tifa’s the last to leave and her and Barret have somewhat of a falling out, looping in her growing distaste for Avalanche’s methods.

One thing that could really permeate through the group is that anger/vengeance can’t be the primary driver for their journey. Barret needs to remember he’s fighting for Marlene’s future, not to get back at Shinra for example. This also makes Vincent’s role inherently more interesting because his whole thing with Hojo ( which is why I think we get to Lucrecia’s cave before the raid on Midgar )

So it would be repetitive to have it beforehand.

And yeah they have to go back to Mideel to get back Cloud and Tifa. We're also definitely going to have whoever is the leader tell how good of a job Cloud did, etc.

What I could see though is Yuffie leaving the band and them going after her once they get Cloud back.

Yuffie is maybe the most obvious one to ditch, and also is convenient excuse to reset the materia we have available ( maybe including the clear materia which will be the story reason we gotta go after her )
