SPOILERS LTD Remake — It's like New Coke except ... no, it's exactly like New Coke

I don't see how thats going against what I said? Jealousy doesn't automatically equal possessiveness, though it can have that connotation. Jealousy is also a form of insecurity, which is what Tifa is feeling in this scene, and through the chapter.

So, let me ask a question then. If what you say, is true, that jealousy doesn't automatically equal possessiveness then what exactly is Tifa jealous about in this scene?

Well, yeah, I'd definitely say that.

You don't get jealous when someone expresses attraction to a friend of yours.

You get jealous when someone expresses attraction to someone you're attracted to and feel they should be with you.

Thanks for your imput. Honestly.

So Tifa gets jealous of Aerith's forwardness because she feels insecure and out of her element in the train graveyard, Cloud get jealous of every dude who express any interest in Tifa because he's an insecure teenager, and Aerith is jealous of Tifa's "great shape" because she's plain (by NPCs' standards).
Interesting.

This time the LTD isn't a triangle but a circle!

I'm not Looney.

Personally, I think there's always going to be some amount of possessiveness in any romantic relationship or where one person wants to be in a romantic relationship with someone else unless they're completely cool with open relationships. But that's just my view on romance.

I know. I was just responding to your comment.

The thing is that this scene is not a romantic scene at all. By having Tifa jealous this scene can be interpreted as a more Cloud and Aerith ship and quite frankly, it has been a talking point. When it is not. Also to note, this does not automatically make it a Cloud and Tifa scene either. That is all I am saying.

It is just a cute scene that Cloud gets to stand arm and arm with two gorgeous women.

I'd be more ready to say Cloud might display a more of a possessive form of jealousy in remake for Tifa than vice versa. Maybe vice versa in the OG? IDK.

Even if either are being possessive at any point, I don't really see why the characters have to be infallible in this regard. I was merely reading the way that the scene is directed. Is jealousy like... a really bad word or something and I didn't get the memo? o__O

For the record I don't think that scene really goes either way for any ship, and I don't really care lol. I think they honestly just really wanted the LTD/waifu-baiting shot of Cloud being arm-in-arm between both girls, and some minor-ass drama to lead into it. Also, @Cat on Mars response above me might be a little tongue in cheek (not sure if that's the intended tone) but yeah pretty much that.

Interestingly enough, we still haven't seen Cloud get annoyed at someone hitting on Aerith yet.

But I think the only guy that showed obvious interest in Aerith is that guy in front of Don Corneo's house.

Then again, people don't express as much interest in Aerith compared to Tifa who seems to have men fawning over her left and right.

Cloud and Tifa have the Reunion Flower between them on the rug in "Alone at Last"/

Ahah you know, I was remembering reading this here way b efore the release "for older players, I believe that they'll find a way to make us believe that we can save Aerith just to stomp on our hearts again" and damn, it's so fitting lol, since the release everyone is like "Aerith will live! Tifa will die instead!" and I'm like ha, everyone's falling for the trap lol.

Given that Aerith seems to know her fate this time around, the real knife twist would be if she came to believe there was a way for her to be saved, only to die when she least expected it.

@looneymoon no, I meant what I said. The "now the triangle is a circle!" part was a bit of a joke.

Hmm. I haven't realized that, you're right.
Now I kinda feel bad for Tifa and Aerith but for different reasons altogether...

I like your take. Sweet, sweet angst...

@Final_Heaven

With that picture, you reminded me of something. At the beginning of the game, when Tifa and Cloud are on screen together, there is a HUGE gap between them. You can drive a semi-truck through it. However, as the game continues on it seems the space slowly shrinks down to a point where there really isn't anything in between them. Symbolic?

That's a really good take. If they're gonna try to make it hurt worse, this is the way to do it.

It does however in turn completely contradict the entire chapter's narrative and atmosphere. That is the reason why I feel it is so out of place for Tifa to be jealous in this particular scene.

No, it doesn't contradict the chapter's narrative or atmosphere. What's more important is that Tifa has already been shown to be the jealous type down in the sewers when she asked about what's going on between Cloud and Aerith.

It absolutely does. The train graveyard chapter is not about an individual romantic character development at all. The group was trying to get through to Sector 7 as fast as possible to try and save everyone there. The atmosphere that was set was spooky and uneasy feelings. Especially after Tifa told everyone the story at the beginning.
