I got to thinking and here’s a question. All the glorious CT touching and saves during those crucial moments, were it another woman in a similar situation, Jessie or Aerith, would Cloud be as touchy? My friend sent me this question and I haven’t replied to him yet, lol.

That's why I always find those scenes to be kinda questionable to use as shipping justification. What, would Cloud just let the other girls fall to their deaths? To completely lean in to my own bias, Cloud does bridal carry Jessie twice, and Aerith once too. He's not above being touchy with the others given appropriate context.

But let me ask you this, why is the narrative making Cloud frequently get touchy with Tifa and not as much with the other two? That's more the shipping justification. It's the frequency that it happens not so much that it happens at all

Jessie spends half a chapter glued to Cloud's back, is that the devs pushing them together? Well, literally yes but you know what I mean. Tifa's scenes do carry a certain intimacy that the others don't, though. Cloud is naturally more relaxed around her given their history, but the way the game frames them is certainly nudging us desperate fools along.

I find LTD more fun/interesting than pondering the mechanics of Xehanort-rebranded-as-Sephiroth and also I love my anime waifus and this remake is really horny

I mean, yeah, I could easily believe Jessie's making her way into Cloud's head. She's also completely in control of the dynamic. If she chose to finesse him instead of pushing his buttons, he might start getting reachy with her too.
