Especially with the "dream date" being considered part of his narrative, not Cloud's. Almost like they're putting in a conflict cliffhanger for him for part 3.

Seeing the Ever Crisis app icon today of Cloud and Zack with Zack more to the front and Cloud slightly behind is really starting to drive it home that they might be making Zack just as much a part of Reverse and things over all as Cloud. This might tick off hard-core OG purists, Cloud fanatics, and some extreme CAs but I suppose everyone else will be feasting.

Anyway, more of a role for Zack is always good in my book. I certainly would be feasting.

Said icon has been the background imagery of the Steam version since that launched so it's not exactly new. Doubt it's gonna tick off anyone any more than Zacks expanded role has already done up to this point to be honest.

Of his own free will, he had decided to become an exceptional man. To become a SOLDIER, a hero, and a special existence to Tifa.

And this idea is spread all over Rebirth actually. He tells Aerith he's basically not interested in food, it's just fuel (super SOLDIER on the lookout) to 5 minutes later go on an extensive quest with Tifa where they talk so much about their food preference, it's almost a joke. Every time they have an intimate convo (usually in bedrooms), the convo ends with him saying they'll catch up later (save for the Gongaga scene, since they are interrupted). Every time we are shown how much rizz Cloud has for Tifa and that's exactly why: because he's ready to do anything to become close to her and become her special person.

And Nojima did say he wrote it so we'd understand Cloud's way of thinking while entering Rebirth.

To me, there is a difference between shipping and canon, but when I see some fans proposing that we should ship Tifa with Barret, it always feel like either a lack of media literacy, either they've been blinded by several years of lies and gaslight that also target newcomers to make them firm CA believers. That plus a lack of understanding how shipping works: we don't decide to switch, it's a matter of taste. And at the end of the day, they'll always have to argue against people who simply argue canon.

On one side he goes "i just eat whatever to keep myself going, doesn't matter what" and on the other he is like "remember that good stuff we ate back then?"

ToTP and 2000 Gil just simply doesn't exist to them or they try to twist that stuff. Mostly the ToTP stuff as i've yet to see anyone from that side aknowledge 2000 Gil even once.

I find it ridiculous that anyone would try to make someone prefer something else as a ship in the first place so this whole one sided "Ceasefire" attempt is just pathetic. Like you said, people enjoy certain ships for a reason and telling them not to enjoy them won't do anything.

The only ceasefire proposal that would ever be acceptable is if they stop invading other spaces and trying to argue canon...which is probably a huge ask, seeing as they want CA to be canon so badly.

It's a blood bath out there, recently I seem to be seeing increased hostilities from CAs getting weird messages on X/twitter, to subreddit shenanigans, to the abuse of Tifa, recently I've seen some several mockups of Tifa, and just like with Aerith, I don't really think they're funny, maybe I just don't get it or am just too old for this crap, but same as with the memes that used Nojima's guinea pigs, or the pressure Nojima received from those telling him to make Aerith die, I just look at the beautiful Tifa and Aerith in game, when I start feeling depressed about people's behaviors, I take a step and remind myself the characters are not their fans and would be appalled at the things that happen sometimes.

Things will hopefully straighten out with p3 but yeah... it's going to be a shitstorm, I think. Nojima is very determined, and SE has been telling us that CT is canon for years... some people out there are going to throw a fit, even though well: they still can ship CA.

Beside that, the fandom looks that way mere months after the release of Rebirth, and we are looking at a window of 3 years for the release of p3... ouch! These are going to be 3 long years, luckily I have other stuff to watch / do (LARP take so much time thank god ) so if I need to I will just keep an exterior eye on it. I do expect a teaser next year, probably in June for p3 if they can keep the window release of 3 years like they did with Rebirth (aka if they don't switch to UE5).

I've mentioned this before, but I forget how long ago, so here we go again. I call it the 'press release mentality' and it's basically that it will takes something on the level of a press release for the diehard CAs to admit CT is actually the thing in the narrative because they're so dead set against it. Sort of like how they've convinced themselves that the devs have said there's no official pair (but it's totally Aerith you guys) because certain fans (totally the ebil Clotis) would freak out about it.

Meanwhile the devs are actually in interviews and panels saying stuff like "saying Tifa's your favorite? Oh, that's gonna get you hate online"

That person is still responding to posts, last I saw her she was screaming 'NON CANON BOOOOOOO" at Cloud reaching for Tifa's hand at the end of OG, just with a new profile pic.
