More seriously, I think the inner/outer light distinction is rather a lot of nonsense, only that there IS light, and it can be found both in a person and outside of them, and darkness the same.

Ryu, that was beautiful. You make more sense of KH than I could ever make. Even if I were high.

Also. Winnie the Pooh is everyone's light. I'm not sure why he's wearing sunglasses in the avatar though.

That actually looks like a censor bar on Pooh's face. :monster:

I tend to think that Sephiroth and Tifa might have once been real people to Cloud, but aren't anymore. Something happened to them, either they died or their hearts are in Cloud or something like that, and now they both haunt him. Tifa's intention obviously isn't to do that, but he seems to feel that way, if he's trying to escape her. Just like in AC/C, he doesn't seem to quite grasp that she loves him and wants to help him, so he tries to pull away from her instead.

Maleficent?

...Damn, you don't even read spoilers? :monster: She's got a big role in KH1, one step down from the main villian dude. She gets characterization-raped in later games though, unfortunately. I don't know about Birth By Sleep though yet.

So did we banish glop off the front page? The last thing I saw before I went to work was some long ass post about some game/thing not even FF related.

I just wanna know if the sexy bitch in my avatar appears in these KH acid trips. That's all I really care about.

Maleficent?

I don't read spoilers because I have no interest in KH. :monster:

Maleficent basically runs the show in KH1. :monster:

Until you kill her and then find out that someone else was pulling the strings all along. DUN DUN DUN

She somehow comes back in KH2, though. Because the Faries saw her cloak and thought of her or something that doesn't make sense. :P

Tifa is Cloud's light in the same manner that Sephiroth is his darkness. I think you people are overcomplicating it. Of course Cloud's entire existence isn't just made up of those two characters but they are the ones that are chosen as metaphors to represent the good and the bad.

I hope if KH3 has FFXIII characters, they have Vanille searching for Fang, they find each other, and they have a 'best friendsy' sort of meeting. :awesome:

This inner/external light stuff makes my head hurt. I think I like to keep it straightforward. Not like KH isn't already full of complicated stuff. I can't help but get this weird feeling that they're going to release KH3 roughly at the same time as the next/last Compilation title. Then further add to Cloud's drama by giving Genesis a role to play >_<

Also KH Seph/Aerith and Aerith/Leon ftw :monster:

I always figured it was KH Yuffie and Leon if anything. Not sure that this Squall is into anyone, though -- he hasn't risked all existence for anyone yet at any rate.

I know you guys aren't serious. But this KH shipping of random characters demonstrates the same faulty logic used in the LTD all the time, when any remotely pleasant interaction is seen as romantic.

I just figure they're snarking that very practice fighter. If they aren't, then, well, I will.

I don't remember now, since Nojima was influenced by translated novels, but Japanese novels aren't always so strict with tenses. I think most will be in the past tense, but occasionally you'll get present tense ones in there as well.
By 'occasionally get present tense ones', I mean to say sentences in present tense mixed in with past tense sentences in the same text. Thinking and reading that back it kind of sounded like it might be taken as whole novels in present tense (which there might be, I don't know).

Not that it really matters :awesome:

To name two English-language examples, Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow and Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon are written entirely in present tense except for flashbacks. No idea if there exist any novels in Japanese written in present tense, though.

There are. The immediacy of present tense writing knows no language limitations

Yeah, I quite think Gravity's Rainbow in particular would lose something of its visceral impact if it were to be recast in the past tense.

Now that I think about it, Don DeLillo uses present tense a lot too. Must be something about postmodernism.
