Seriously, Liara may not be ~ALL THAT~ if you take the first game alone, but her development throughout the games, comics, and finally the DLC make her one of the most well developed characters and makes her romance arc so rewarding. LOTS OF LITTLE BLUE CHILDREN ;O;

I was an adept, so I found her useless. And I can't stand her VA, I think she overacts the part. Also, I think she's the last character who should be an information broker (she can't figure out that the spy is the only other person within 1000 ft of her office? Really???) In short, I think she's a dumb bitch.

You want a real romance, head down to main engineering. ;-) Instead of three losers with emotional baggage, you have this sweet, intelligent, beautiful girl with whom you build a relationship naturally across stories. And the best part about waiting is, you get to see her truly become a woman - and not just her hips and thighs filling out, I mean she evolves and matures. Tali's truly an amazing character. And she's far more useful than Wrex or Liara (at least in the first one, she's useless in part 2). Only problem is you can't get her with femshep (yet).

I love Ashley. She's the most believable character on the team (which is probably why she's the most hated.) Sure, she has horrible flaws, but I don't have to identify with a character to enjoy her. Hell, Mordin basically committed genocide and everyone likes him. Every character has something wrong with them. Complexity is a good thing.

And the best squad member ever.

Nope, he's a great story character but not the best teammate. Grunt is a vastly better tank and several others are better biotics.

Tali in the first one is the most useful IMO. In the second I'd say it's Miranda.

The Mako was an atrocious piece of shit, to be fair to it.

Though the Firewalker sections in ME2 were a large improvement. Mostly because the fucker didn't control like a drunken arse.

I was upset that I couldn't import because of that, and I went back and got my copy of ME1 again so that I would get the good play through.

NEVER Liara irritates me. I don't have a good reason why. Sometimes I dislike characters for no good reason other than they irritate me. And everything she does irritates me. Her voice. The way she acts. Everything.

And she's the only character that absolutely 100% can be in ME3. Which makes me more irritated.

Although I was told Lair of the Shadow Broker makes her kind of awesome.

Actually, the reason for that lame sidequest with the LOL WHO IS THE SPY was only because they had to cut out the Shadow Broker mission before the game's release, and put out a rushed mission in its place. The audio files for the original Shadow Broker mission were found some time before the actual DLCs release, and can be found on youtube. So I chalk that up to poor writing overall, but in the game's context it could also be said that while Liara is trying to be a badass she is still a naive girl, and probably made the mistake of putting her trust in someone.

There is Tali/FemShep les!yay (I'D MELD SUITS WITH YOU SHEPARD) but tbqh although Tali's awesome I do not have the giant raging hardon for her that most of the ME community seems to. Her romance is jsut so awkward to me because she's the little sister type character. IT SQUICKS ME

I played ME1 briefly and it didn't hold my attention at all. But if ME2 really is as better as everyone says, I might pick up the PS3 version to do that comic thing for the ME1 story.

I was exactly the same. I completed the first game, and it never really called out to me. So glad I finished it though because it makes the second game that much better. For me not to like the first game, and consider the second my favourite current gen game, that must say tonnes about how good it is

Also, someone's forgotten that Liara has spent most of her life digging for Prothean paper towels and nail files. She has no social skills, so it's entirely logical (beyond the previous "rushjob" bit up above) that she wouldn't think that that's the spy.

I love Tali a lot, but if she WERE a romance option in ME1, I'd still probably take Liara over her, at least for femshep, because the romance is so BELIEVABLE. Maleshep seems more suited to Tali, period.

Also, Ashley is a horrible character. She can be summed up in three words: angry xenophobic bitch. There's no character depth. BAWW THIS GUY TRIED TO RAPE MY SISTER BUT SHE KICKED HIS ASS. =/
