In theory, number 700 will happen on the last week of October.

When the movie debuts, the manga should theoretically be on ch.705.


Given the fact that the movie is very likely to need to address certain points that WOULD spoil the manga itself (who survives, who doesn't, the state of Konoha and the other hidden villages, etc), does anyone else still get the feeling Naruto may very well end this year?

What baffles me is that the movie will 99% surely debut before the anime is finished.

I think I started watching it a few weeks after it started airing - I remember the Haku arc being ongoing and watching it weekly - (which, Holy Shit, was apparently in 2002), and I jumped from watching the anime to the manga... probably a bit before the Sound 4 showed up (because I vividly remember being excited about reading the manga, and seeing this scene in the anime http://www.mangapanda.com/93-184-4/naruto/chapter-179.html), and watching the manga/anime catch up to each other before the timeskip happened (at which point, watching the anime just became all about watching the manga events happen).

I started watching it around the Chuuning exam section... caught up to it, before Gaara and Sasuke's fight and then jumped on the manga. Great times!! It will be SO weird...

I think I've mentioned before, but I started reading it a couple of years ago. The first volume I read was where Sasuke has his showdown with Itachi and the truth about Itachi is revealed. I remember being impressed by that and instantly loving Itachi.

The artist is clearly good, but the fashion looks like it's runway attire from a post-apocalyptic setting. Also, it's probably worth mentioning that the idea of a Kunoichi like Hinata wearing ultra-highheels like that is… just plain ridiculous. Good artist, but everything else is absurd.

Art like this doesn't appeal to me because there's nothing of the characters' personalities there at all. It's like cosplay or something. Hinata ain't gonna wear something that showy, and Sakura's hair looks ratty as hell, like somebody did the bubblegum.and why do these fan redesigns for the females especially seem to go "moar scantily clad = good YAS? YAS! Let's not take into account their personalities at all who cares anime babez" /pet peeve

Manga Stream's translation was good, except the final line "I like you" is meant to be a call back to the first time team 7 was assembled, and Kakashi said his first impression was that didn't really like them. Additionally, Naruto Sasuke flying in at Kaguya looked visually like their initial confrontation for the Battle of the End.

We finally got to see Hamura's face!~ Motha Fuckin' Byakugan! Also, seeing ALL the versions of the previous Kage was incredibly badass. Also, Son Goku chatting with Kurama was totally great. This sets the stage up for the redistribution of the Biju amongst the nations. I'm just really excited to see what comes out the other side of this (especially with Madara's body being returned).

But there you go. The last big battle in "Naruto."

Hey, X, how pissed would you be if this were the last installment and it all just ended right here? XD

So, are we taking predictions on where we go from here? Who will do what? How many issues are left? I still say #700 will be the end.

If it just up and ended now and left us with kind of an original FFVII: "Well, we saved the world and now that's the end" kind of conclusion, I'd be ok with it. I mean, I like speculative endings. I'm still gonna miss not reading it every week though.

I'd like to know how the new Shinobi system is gonna work, how the Biju are gonna be involved (will there be Jinchuriki anymore?), and how they go about rebuilding - specifically Sasuke rebuilding the Uchiha clan and Naruto becoming Hokage, because those were their dreams that they had when they started Team 7 that they haven't yet achieved.

I also REALLY want a direct answer on what became of Hamura, since that's kind of the big elephant in the room right now, and I want to see the connection with the Hyuga clan spelled out in the kind of detail we've gotten for the rest of the clan connections with Kaguya's children and the Senju/Uchiha. I mean, they're the strongest clan in the Leaf, and we know next to nothing about how they got there.


I'm not sure if it'll be ON #700, 'cause ten chapters seems a little short to cover what's still hanging around adequately, unless they're planning on using The Last: Naruto The Movie for it - which is a possibility.

Also, I think it's worth mentioning how it tool ALL of the previous Kage to summon the 5 of them and the Biju back from the alternate dimension. That makes the dimension traveling from the previous chapters seem even more fucking incredible when put into perspective of the raw power involved.
