Okay, people: No more discussing each other, no more discussing the relevance of the thread, no more discussing whether the thread is needed. It's queer and it's here (despite how many of us are shaking our heads at that, myself included), and it's time to move on.
If no one has anything much to say about the actual topic, it will die naturally on its own, as any other thread on this forum does. If you don't like the topic or don't give a shit about it, ignore the thread. Of course everyone has an equal right to post in the thread, but that applies only up until someone begins derailing the thread or infringing on others' ability to peacefully discuss the topic if they wish (you can usually tell if you're doing this because people will begin letting you know).
So, to summarize: Discuss the topic if you like it, ignore the thread if you don't.
This means no spamfest of humorous images or unrelated chitchat just to derail it, and it also means no spamfest of humorous images or unrelated unrelated chitchat just to keep it afloat.
As well, this means no endless discussion of what other people do or have done at this site, whether concerning the topic or not, and it also means no endless discussion of what other people do or have done at other sites (CxA, YouTube, etc.), whether concerning the topic or not.
I think that covers all the loopholes, and even if you find one that I missed, exploiting it to circumvent the spirit of this post will make me a unhappy panda, which will then lead to you being a sad one. Or at least one wearing some infraction flair.
Pretty sick of the shit that's been going on in here (as sick of it as I am of the LTD, in fact), and I'm saying it's stopping now. Following the recent bullshit with DLPB and then this, the lack of respect going around in here lately has reached fucking retarded levels. It's at the point now where someone actually suggested programming a measure into the site's code that would allow a user to be blocked from a thread if they can't be respectful to other members in that thread or restrain themselves from fucking it up.
I personally don't like this idea. I think it ignores the actual problem. I think you should be able to access everything or nothing, and that if you can't show respect in one area of the site, this speaks to an overall problem with how you're using the whole site. Feel free to disagree with me about that, but that's how I feel.
Now, I'm not saying you guys have to respect me or what I'm saying. You can write my name on notebook paper (that's Glenn Morrow, with two "n"s, thank you), shit on it, piss on it, light it on fire, and put the fire out by pissing on it again if you want. I don't care. I'm not even saying you guys have to respect each other. But you guys will either choose to treat other respectfully (different from actually respecting someone) or you will respect something else around here.
Not me, no. The buttons I can click on in your profile, though, yes.
For what it's worth, if anything, I like every last one of you. That being the case, I'm not interested in letting any of you infringe upon a pleasant forum atmosphere for any of the rest of you.
If any other mods or an admin disagrees with how I'm handling this, feel free to tell me. I'll still feel that it needed to be said, but I'm happy to discuss it with you.
And if anyone does actually give a shit about that tangent that cropped up, pretend the "D" in the "LTD" part of this thread's title stands for "Discussion." There's no debate going on here, hasn't been for a while, and we all know it. Pointing it out, though, doesn't change a thing.
