I think I'm officially an old man now. I finally got around to watching the event, and nothing really stuck out to me as all that interesting, it's all just ki da blending together in my memory already (except dinosaur high school lol.) The guy mentions that in the past their artistic vision was limited by the tech, but I feel like the art was actually born from those limitations. Now it seems like you can do anything, so things don't strike me as impressive as much.
Get off my lawn.
As someone who does art in limitations for a living, I agree. Limitations definitely spawn creativity.

I feel like it’ll be different when we actually see more of the individual games - their individual traits will shine more, perhaps. When they’re all in a sizzle reel together, they definitely all blend together. Though I do think style homogeny is a legitimate problem. All of the concept art people make for these AAA games look interchangeable these days.

I’m more just impressed with what PS5 is apparently capable of.

Also....the trend of Sony designing consoles apparently off of designer buildings continues.

Now the question is if the game mantain a locked 60fps or will hover around at inconsistent 50fps-60fps. That said, if a launch title can handle 4k60fps then I have high hopes of FF7R Part 2 being a 60fps game (with 1080p resolution at minimum).

I don't think it'll be 4K60fps, I understood that tweet as having either 4K or a 60fps performance option.

But then again, apparently GT7 is 4K60, so maybe. I just wonder what the graphics mode would do then. :wacky:

Sounds exactly like the partial game installations that they talked about. It'll be interesting to see when they properly make a statement/announcement about it.

Thanks for adding in the video as well @Lulcielid !

Especially since DLSS needs a lot of hardware & software-specific integration to work properly (having motion vectors to avoid the streaking that they talk about in the video), I think that there's a decent possibility of Sony using that for PS5 to improve the visual quality of their games. Checker boarding is something that I noticed a lot in Remake – especially in surface reflections, so it'd be really nice to see if that would be something that'd be able to get cleared up when the sequels are running on PS5, especially once they have the visual fidelity from an engine like UE5.

https://blog.playstation.com/2020/0...ns-on-compatible-ps4-peripherals-accessories/

Which existing PS4 peripherals/accessories will work on PS5?
  • Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.
  • The Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5).
  • The DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games.
  • Both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.
Please note, not all PlayStation officially licensed or third-party peripherals/accessories may work on PS5. We recommend checking with the manufacturer to confirm whether a product will work on PS5 and specific titles.

Will DualShock 4 work with PS5 games?

No, we believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.

Is the PlayStation Camera for PS4 compatible with PS5?

Yes, PlayStation Camera will work with PS5 for playing supported PS VR games. It will require a PlayStation Camera adaptor that will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users. More details on how to get the adaptor will be announced at a later date.
