It did, nimrod. XD That's how it was able to Bulldoze Ganon (the speed boost made Excadrill faster than my fire pig for the second round). Gamera only got the drop on him as Aqua Jet is a first-hit Water-type attack.
I had no problems with Clay the first time, except for his Palpitoad. We rocked everything else to death with ease, but that Ground/Water dual type has always been an issue for me. My team dynamic just isn't very good at taking those out, ya know? Except my Johto team of course, over there my Victreebel just laughs as it tears them apart.

Once upon a time, there was a Kimble who got srsly into Pokemon during the Diamond/Pearl generation, and he joined a newly formed pokeforum (he was like, the eighth member or something) that was really into competition and stuff.
One day, the forum started their own Pokemon League, and there were a few simple rules that the Gym Leaders/Elite 4 (GL/E4 from here on out) were to follow.
The first rule was that each team had to consist of six pokemon. Simple enough.
The second rule was that on that team of six, there had to be a common theme among the pokemon - typically type-based, but not always.
The third rule was that for type-based teams, either all of the pokemon had to be of the same type, OR at least four of the six pokemon had to be of that same type AND every pokemon had to have a move of that team's theme type (a Water team could either be six Water pokemon, or four Water plus two whatever, so long as every pokemon had a Water attack).
The fourth rule was for teams based on single moves, like weather, Baton Pass, etc. All pokemon on the team had to possess whatever the move in question was, or (in the case of weather) have an ability that created that effect (a pokemon that made it rain upon entry, for example).
The fifth rule was that no Ubers were allowed, but up to ONE legendary pokemon was allowed on a team, so long as it was NOT considered Uber.
The sixth rule was that the generally accepted current banlist of whatever generation of the game was being played would be what was followed.
:
Items
All items that increase Evasion (e.g. BrightPowder)
Moves
All moves that increase Evasion only (e.g. Minimize)
All instant OHKO moves (e.g. Horn Drill)
Abilities
Moody
Drizzle + Swift Swim on the same team
You'll note that most of these are all considered Ubers. Personally, I was surprised by Blaziken being banned, although doing some digging came up with the reason - one of its abilities in the BW generation gives it a speed boost every turn that its out.
The problem is that apparently its ability boosts its speed by one level every turn that its out. Give it two turns and it will be nearly impossible to KO, especially with its high offensive stats. ;.;
But I think that just banning it with that one ability would have been preferable to banning firechikn outright, myself =/
No multiples of items. Eg. Only one poke can have a quick claw, etc.
No multiples of pokes.
We should find a good ubers list up to B/W.
Because of battling, all pokes should be lv. 50+, because the new way it works lowers all pokes down to 50 rather than leveling them up. So, if you're team isn't at least in the 50s you'll be at a disadvantage.
Liking these ideas. Since no one has said "Nu fucker I called Dark" I've gone ahead and started getting a team together. Trying to decide between some mons that have the same basic advantages and such atm.
Can't we have a mixed team? I really dont specialize in anything other than the 3 basic elements a psychic, a normal and a dark at all times. Rarely do I use Bug or Poison because I admit they are teh gayz I only use bugs when I'm surrounded by Dark users. Even then my Sceptile/Lizard has a bug move that can tip the balance to my favour.
I've never specialized either, but I'm kinda looking forward to it. Will give me a new perspective on how the Gym Leaders (except that fucker Blue) and the Elite Four must feel.
How many people are we recruiting here? And what type of Pokemon League are we gonna be exactly? Are we supposed to be, like, gym leaders? Elite four? Does whoever has the best win percentage get to be Champion or something? Either way, already got my team partly planned out, and breeding/training up those I know have a spot on the team.
Edit: Heracross also gives a hearty FU, so long as you don't have flying types out front and center.
