Anyways, thanks to this thread and all I finally dropped the cash and got RE Darkside Chronicles.
It's actually pretty good so far. The camera is a bit annoying but it actually is pretty awesome and well designed. And the dialogue between Claire and Leon is just <3
So yeah, so far, so good. It's great considering I haven't played RE2 in fucking forever.

What I don`t like in RE4 and RE5 is, when I encounter an enemy, I don`t see scary monsters anymore ... I see ITEMS!

Damn, why does Nintendo get the better REs? Now I have to buy a WII because of two games, like I had to buy Gamecube for Remake and Zero back then!

I would try and find youtube videos of Leon being awesome in Degeneration just to show that you are wrong at the Internet but I'm at work right now
I mean, the only reason why he was so emotionless is because they treated him like Batman, ie. a hardcore stoic mofo.
The untouchable badass with years of zombie experience under his belt. I think there's a reason why his attitude to yet another zombie outbreak in yet another scientific facility is displayed between a facial range of "coldly indifferent" to "slightly disgruntled".
Also they left most of the wisecracks to Claire so she could be the cute one while Angela Miller of Large Jubblies could swoon at Leon's hardcore stoic pectorals straining out of his tactical shirt.

Well one thing I love about Darkside Chronicles is that it keeps Leon's character in RE2 pretty in tact. They didn't retroactively make him a badass in RE2. They kept him as the same inexperienced, dorky, yet brave hero he was in the original game. I seriously loved the RE2 portions of the game to pieces. Yeah, its not accurate but its still enjoyable. I mean, who expects the Chronicles games to be accurate anyways?
The graphics and scenery are awesome. Just finished the RE2 portions. Can't wait to do the Code Veronica one. I just...I just wish this game lead somewhere. RE: Umbrella Chronicles was a lead into RE5 thanks to it chronicling the fall of Umbrella, and Wesker's rise to power in terms of finally achieving his goal of acquiring Umbrella's core assets. UC showed us just how Umbrella fell as a company thanks to Chris and Jill. It was actually a stepping stone in terms of the progression of the RE plot.
Darkside Chronicles seems to just....be a side story that basically tells us what Leon did before RE4, the relationship between Leon and Krauser, why Krauser turned evil, and...that's it. I mean, that's all very interesting and fun. But...in the end, the game just being that kinda leaves you wanting more. I wish it hinted at what would be coming next in terms of the story post RE5.

...You're way too jaded. I wouldn't even expect Dacon to say that.
RE could still do some awesome shit. I for one am looking forward to it. Didn't they even say that in the next game whenever it comes out, they'd be doing an entirely unique, new story and go back to basics?

I love how every time a franchise needs a new character to fill up an unexplainable hole they have the need to retcon him into a prequel game.
I had much more fun playing Umbrella Chronicles with a friend than playing by myself. It just felt so.... mundane. Even for a rail gun shooter. I mean, the story bits were great, but the Resident Evil 0 segment made me gag.

I don't mind RE continuing, but the games need new plotlines. Sure the characters can stay.
But they need new staff talent. These guys that made 5, they just didn't give it as much love and care as Mikami's people did with 4. Hell, he put what was it, four complete revisions of love into 4?
Capcom just needs people who are enthusiastic about the series to handle the next. Not these fags who say the next person who helms the game gets it off a coin toss. They need to look at games on the market, see what they have to offer, and draw inspiration from the technology used and the game design. Use that to make RE shine, bring back the old survival horror with new features and level design fueled by current gen innovations in game design.

Holy shit, is he an interesting character. There was so much potential with him now that I'm getting to know more of him in Darkside Chronicles.
