Disappearing as quickly as it arrived, German gaming site Giga.de posted up a video I’m guessing they weren’t supposed to – a 28 minute playthrough of the upcoming Sonic Generations, coming across the globe in the early days of November, 2011. Featuring Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary, and City Escape, the video also includes extensive footage of the hub world and the glorious Metal Sonic boss fight. Sure, everything they are saying is in German, and it was taken down probably because of an embargo (which means this video here might disappear later on), but in the words of Retro admin Cinossu, “boy is it a lovely 28 minutes.”
Although it should be obvious, this video is chock-full of spoilers. So if you want to stay completely in the dark, you’ll want to avoid the video and everything else below.

I've been wondering what this "3rd Era" was they kept talking about, I just thought it was old and modern. I see they stuck Dreamcast in the middle.
Funny how Classic Sonic can go underwater but Modern Sonic dies instantly upon touching it (I mean, he didn't in Sonic Colors, but still)

Knuckles couldn't swim in Sonic 3 could he? But Tails could for sure. Knuckles could swim in SA2.

So we even get the Wisp powerups in the Colors levels, nice. I wonder if we'll have the Sonic 3 powerups in Mushroom Hill Zone. (Or was that only in the DS version, I don't remember).
It's still weird that there aren't any Sonic 3 levels, I mean does someone else own them? Marble Garden Zone would be cool

I wanna see Metrocity Zone remade! I think I loved the bits where I got to make Sonic run/spin/fly across the water more than anything. Especially since those were prime locations to outrun the game's ability to scroll with you back in the day 
And yeah, I hope (on behalf of all the folks who will get to play this
) that Sonic 3 power ups are gonna show up where appropriate. I miss the Flame and Water shields, and the later interpretations of the Thunder shield just weren't as cool without the immunity to energy attacks/double jump.

Fire, lightning, bubble shields were found in the demo's data, but we've yet to see them in the game.
The reason we don't have Sonic 3 levels... is..... because Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles are being considered one whole game. I wish we had at least 2 levels per game....
