I want this as wallpaper, seriously. D:

I resized it with Genuine Fractals..... not saying it's "perfect", but might do until they hopefully release a HD render? If anyone wants to do any "clean up" work on it, be my guest.... I gotta get some sleep.

Does that mean that they might bring back the Sonic SatAm cartoon as well ?

... this is embarrassing, i'm crying now, all over a old cartoon, so silly. xD

I wish, but Sega Japan seems to wish that show never existed, or something. :(

You can buy it on DVD, though. :)

EDIT:

Sega is hosting a skate competition in celebration of the game

I guess like Tony Hawk and a bunch of over skateboard celebs will be there.

Seems like overkill but I guess that's cool. :P

Just played the demo. I really really like it. It's great to see the old school Green Hill Zone in beautiful graphics and everything. And it really makes me happy how after all these years they've finally made 3D Sonic gameplay a ton of damn fun.

I like how there are multiple paths to take even in Modern Sonic's gameplay.
Seriously, this shit is fun.

I think I'm gonna go through Colours again before Generations is released. :P

If only they could have figured this formula out before ruining his reputation. I would so love to see a Sonic game do well market-wide. Let him and Mario go at it again, even if they show up on the same consoles :)

I want a Mario and Sonic crossover platformer game tbh :P
Fuck that olympic minigame collection bullshit.

@Hidari: Holy shit. I wonder what time it'd take for an average player like myself to get through that level. The 21-24 second part of that video seemed exceptionally fast for whatever reason.

Geez, that's absurd. It's crazy how quickly people can master games like this I guess Modern Sonic doesn't lend itself nearly as well to speed runs, huh

New Sonic Generations Footage, Shows Off One Mission

Sonic the Hedgehog must be big in Germany. I mean, it’s the only thing I can think of since they seem to get so much footage before everyone else. That, and they are part of the demographic getting that awesome collector’s edition…this time around, German gaming site GamesWelt delivers yet another sneak peek into Sonic Generations, now just about a week away for us Americans. Be forewarned, there are a bit of spoilers in the video below, along with a heapin’ helpin’ of German Omochao. So keep that in mind as you watch the latest footage.

Along with some more clips of Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary (and a closer listen to the modern mix of the latter), the video provides the first look at one of the mission modes for the game that Aaron Webber has been teasing us with. Though if you’re paying attention you may have heard about it beforehand, it is the first footage of Classic Sonic racing against everyone’s favorite Knucklehead, Knuckles the Echidna. Filled with giant Motoras and Beetas, seems Sonic can use them as giant springs to reach higher paths as he races along Modern Knuckles. Wonder how many animal friends it takes to power those things…either way, the mission is accompanied by Cash Cash doing a cover of Super Sonic Racing, best known for haunting your dreams in Sonic R. And no, your ears do not deceive you. Someone does indeed say the phrase “Sega Saturn.” Would have been awkward to say “also ported to the PC, Playstation 2 and Gamecube,” I guess.

Once again, Sonic Generations is released in America on November 1st, and in Europe November 4th.

No Surprise: SEGA Has “No Plans” For Classic Sonic Post-Generations

Straight from Svend’s other website not named The Sonic Stadium is a very brief interview with Sonic Brand Manager David Corless. How brief is it, you ask? It’s only one question, but it’s a question that has been on people’s minds for some reason. Svend asked:

“Sonic Generations sees a classic and modern form of the blue blur running around loops in the same game. If the gameplay is received positively, do you think there’s an opportunity to bring Classic Sonic back into future titles?”

Corless responded:

“Do you know what? There are no plans, to be brutally honest, to bring Classic Sonic back. The reason for bringing him back for this game was because this is a celebration of 20 years of Sonic. It was a real fitting time to do it. He’s really well loved. Let’s see how Generations does. You can never say never in this industry, but at the moment there are no plans.”

If this news comes as a shock to anyone, I’m sorry that you’re delirious. Life goes on as normal. If Sonic’s superior self ever makes a return in the future, we’ll be waiting.

"I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaally hope Sonic Generations sells insanely well... well enough that Sega makes an entire Sonic 1 remake, in the style of the "Classic Sonic" levels in Generations. Then followed by Sonic 2, 3, S&K...*fingers crossed*"

A post I made on facebook October 20th.

So much for that hope then eh?

I don't really care. It's not his design that makes the games, but the gameplay. /captainobvious

What I want to know is whether they'll bring back classic Sonic gameplay. Aka a Sonic 4 with decent physics. And considering how much better Sonic handles in Generations, I don't see why they wouldn't.

Yeah, give the remaining Sonic 4 episodes the new physics (though I really didn't hate the physics as much as everyone else, I'd like it with Generation-style physics). But beyond that, just keep making games like Sonic Colors, honestly. Games made entirely of Sonic Unleashed-style speed levels.

I may be in the minority here, but I LIKE modern Sonic's design. It is indeed whether the game plays well and is fun or not that makes or breaks a Sonic title, not the longer limbs and green eyes.

I don't really care about the design, I remember I thought it was unnecessary when it happened, but smeh. He's really not all that different. And the design changed fairly often. S1 and 2 is the chubbiest. He was different in 3 and Knuckles and I remember people being upset about that.

I'm just thrilled they've got the 3D gameplay down and want moar.

EDIT: Actually, one thing I never I liked about Sonic's modernization is that his legs don't go in a blurry circle anymore :( Now he just goes faster than he should judging by his legs.

I've never really cared much for the modern games, just... something about them.

It's not that I don't enjoy playing the "classics" on an emulator or whatever, I just wouldn't mind seeing the stages from the three (four?) games redone as Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Sky Sanctuary Zone have. Plus the music, too.... but.... tis just a dream.
