I finished the Classic Levels and the Knuckles challenge for Sky Sanctuary. Then I ripped the 20 Years of Sonic Music cd on my comp which I'm listening to right now :P
I wanna take my time as well because it's not a long game...although the challenges and red rings etc do provide some longevity for the game.

Might go for all the trophies. :monster:
Wonder how hard they're gonna be in the end. Sonic Unleashed is apparently quite the challenging Platinum trophy thanks to the time trials. Haven't attempted that one yet though.

I like how Sky Sanctuary was pretty platform-heavy. So much for complaints that Modern Sonic is just 'boost to win' =P

Also, Speed Highway <3

Gonna collect some red rings too, just played Green Hill Act 1 and collected all 5 in one go. x)

I've gone all the way through City Escape. Now trying to get the keys for the second Boss. I'll probably have to go back and finish all the Chemical Plant challenges, though, because none of the challenges for the other zones have popped up yet, so I can't get the keys. :P

Also I've become so spoiled. I found myself wishing that the Genesis levels let you save. :P

Sometimes I'm even up on the D-pad for the 2D segments of the modern gameplay. And I used it for all of Sonic 4 as well. Something about the analog sticks are just too imprecise for 2D platforming to me...

Does anyone else find they subconsciously use the D-pad for the classic levels and the analog stick for the modern?

I do. I always play sidescrollers with the D-pad. I also always use the D-pad in menus.

Also I've become so spoiled. I found myself wishing that the Genesis levels let you save.

When I unlocked Sonic 1, I went straight to level select and finished the Final Zone. :wacky:
Thing is, now it saved a fake clear time of 2 minutes...whoops.

Also for some reason I took a long time figuring out how to beat Shadow...

Also, Classic Tails is like, the cutest thing ever =P
Look at him waving his arms when you talk to him as Classic Sonic. x)

EDIT: Beat the game. :wacky:
I was surprised that the last stage was
Planet Wisp after all. I thought you'd unlock a final stage unique to Generations, kind of a timey wimey zone a la End of the World in Sonic 06, except fun to play. :P At least Planet Wisp's level design and music mixes give off enough of a final stage vibe imo.
Still have plenty of red rings to find and challenges to do and acts to S-rank though :D

The game is plenty fun. I wanna make love to it and make more of them.

Just beat the last boss myself. Like Tetsujin, I have a lot of other stuff to do that I'm looking forward too. The game is great. I easily give it a 8.5 out of 10... maybe a 9... I'm really disappointed in Super Sonic in this game though. I mean... no music and the ring consumption is waaay too fast . It's more than one per minute.. who thought that up? D:

Did the final boss use a homing attack sometimes? The game gave no indication of this whatsoever but I think it was a homing attack :awesome:

I still have all three modern era levels to do. But I did every challenge so far. I never played Sonic 2006, but for those who did, was it enjoyable to be able to play it with 3D controls that aren't ass? :P

I was so happy to unlock the Star Light Zone music last night, I love that song. In fact it's currently my ringtone.

Super Sonic is supposed to burn through one ring per second starting the moment he transforms if I'm not mistaken in remembering. Did they actually make it faster than that or what?

Chocobo's my text. Star Light Zone has been my ringtone for awhile now.

And I revoke my question from earlier about Sonic 2006. Because Crisis City is the only level in the game that i don't have fun playing. Damn is it frustrating, I really dread trying S-class this one. I just did the challenge mission of keeping the signpost in the air. Infuriating.

I think Classic City Escape, Modern Planet Wisp, and both Acts of Crisis City are the hardest in the game. But I still have fun with the first 2.

So, this thread got me craving Sonic and I started a new game on Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Was talking to Tenny about it on IRC, and was dumbfounded she didn't know the Launch Base Zone infinite lives trick. So at her suggestion, I'm gonna describe it here for anyone else who doesn't know about it.

In said zone, there are a number of alarms you can trip, including one right at the start of the zone. They look like two large lights that you can run between. Unless you jump over them, they light up and an alarm blares, at which time a flying badnik arrives and attacks.

So, what you do is park Sonic right in between these lights so they go off constantly, and rev up a spin dash and hold it. The flying badniks will dive right at you and be destroyed since you're spinning. Just hold it long enough and every badnik will eventually be worth 10,000 points each. At that point, you get an extra life for every five badniks, thus infinite lives if you're patient enough. In three minutes, I went from 9 lives (I wasn't playing very well today shut up :P) to 30.

So yeah, most of ya probably already know, but if ya didn't... well ya do now :monster:

I've come to discover that unless it's about SatAM or Sonic 2, Tenny's Sonic fan qualifications are suspect. :monster:

Just finished the last challenge mission for Crisis City and I never I want to play it again. 10 more coins and S-rank? Dammit.

The demo of Generations made me nostalgic for the old music.

And now I've been listening to the Star Light Zone track for 10 minutes :sadpanda:

This is seriously the best modern Sonic game that's ever been made.

I really can't say this enough. They did..so much right with this game, that this definitely will be a new classic in terms of Sonic's history. Holy fucking shit did Sonic get his groove back.

I knew Sonic Colors was a step in the right direction, but they nailed it here.

I've now beaten the game and all, so yeah. Having done everything, I can safely say this was worth the preorder and everything. Hell, I wish I got the collector's edition from Europe.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything in this post.

You people all make me want to go get a Wii just so I can play Colors... :(

Same with this.

Either I REALLY suck at this game.... or this old PS2 controller I have plugged in via an adapter is shit (then again, there have been instances were the start, select, up analog and so on go on like "turbo" when getting stuck or something.... so.... yeah). I fare better with Classic Sonic, but I'm surprised that I don't do nearly as well as I can with the Genesis games.

Do you not have a real PS3 controller? :P

Also, 30 second trials. You people need to do them. I enjoy the competition.

It took a few tries, but I beat Tet's score on both Act 1 and Act 2 of Green Hill Zone. :monster:

Damn you. :P

EDIT: And now I beat you. :awesome:

Regardless of my possible suckness at the game, I still hope we get some seriously awesome DLC... I WANTS MORE ACTS!!!

I have a feeling it's gonna be like Unleashed and we'll just get a few more Nintendo Hard acts for the existing levels...
