[SPOILERS] KH 2.8 Discussion Thread

Just caved in and watched Back Cover. Bah gawd. The MoM is kinda scary in a way, genuinely puzzled as to whether his intentions are ultimately good or bad. I do like him though. Luxu was also different than what his scene in the game made him seem. It's all rather sad in a way.

And as easy as it is to say "Oh no, more time travel!" at least this plot-point fairly straight forward. Will this eventually become more convolued? That be another story.

I'm curious as to how much this ties in to Xehanort himself and his actions. Is he being controlled? Are his schemes unrelated? Either way, there are clearly big twists waiting ahead in KH3. It could really end up confusing a lot of people who ignore these other titles, haha.

For now, I'm looking forward to more developments in X "Season 2" and beyond.

I haven't touched 0.2 though. As a game, I don't want anything to do with it until it reaches my hands.

Yeah, the Master of Master's actions are very unclear, but at the same time, I don't find him scary at all. He's just....very weird to me.

so any thoughts on why we're going to the Colosseum first? Maybe he wants to find Zack so Aqua has someone to date when she gets out

Before Back Cover, I always assumed that it was just a creepy design on the Keyblade when I first saw it in Birth By Sleep, giving it a much more gothic and evil look to it.

But yeah, it's actually an actual eye which belonged to the Master of Master's and that very eye is what sees into the future for foresight which is creepily still alive and allows the dude to continue to see everything through that Keyblade through his successors(Luxu and Xehanort and whoever else).

So any thoughts on why we're going to the Colosseum first? Maybe he wants to find Zack so Aqua has someone to date when she gets out

*Chuckles*. As much as I'd love to see Zack again in KH3, the closest we're getting to FFVII characters returning are Aerith, Cid, Yuffie and hopefully both Cloud and Tifa, and maybe Sephiroth too.

Yen Sid pretty much covered that info up. The main reason why Sora's heading to Olympus first is because 1; He needs to regain his powers lost no thanks to Xehanort, 2; the right person to ask on how to do so is Hercules who, both in KH universe and in the movie(which will have it's 20th Anniversary this year too, so I think this is a way to celebrate it by revealing it as the first world for the upcoming title), lost his immortality as an infant no thanks to Hades and in the end discovered that the only way to regain his power is to learn the true strength of a true hero; the Strength of the Heart, which is what Sora will discover in KH3

, and 3; well, because Olympus is obviously one of Nomura's favorites.

Yeah, Back Cover was admittedly disappointing. I enjoyed 0.2 a lot better and even makes DDD amazing(not that I don't like it, but so far 0.2 even beats that game).

and why are they playing The Other Promise during the credits

Because they didn't use the opening or ending songs of X(Chi)/Unchained X like the other games due to rights, because the PC game credits used COM soundtrack before the PC version shut down. So I guess they thought it was fair to not use the songs for Back Cover. On the other hand, The Other Promise isn't an ending track at all.

It's more of an emotional/frustration and possibly heart-breaking moment track.

Speaking of, I just lost a half hour of game play due to those stupid dream eaters... I went to "bond" and this balloon game started where the dream eater is SUPPOSED to hit the balloon to me and I hit it back with what I thought was the touchpad on the PS4 controller but the dream eater just sat there while this god awful music played and NO buttons did anything. Eventually I just started mashing everything in hopes I could figure out what I was supposed to do but... nothing...

Every so often I'd see a hand appear on the screen in the corner or something.... not helpful at all... and eventually I apparently pressed the right combination to restart the game



any idea what I'm supposed to do with this mini game? I tried to google it but I got nothing

I'm surprised it went right down to the ending of KH1. And then we get that shot of her meeting Ansem the Amnesiac- and so everything has context now. Glad Nomura managed to do the broad points of this side-story in the end.

I think the mini-game is to level up your Dream Eaters. Not quite sure.

Hmm....sounds like a faulty mess up with the mini game since it's on PS4 now. Not surprised since I knew that the game would have a problem or a dozen.

"Ansem the Amnesiac" Lol. I like that.

I've heard a couple of people who are discussing on her reaction in regards with hearing about Sora when she had heard about him from Mickey before meeting Ansem, which is causing confusion here.

But I think it's more clear that she forgot about what she witnessed in seeing worlds fallen into darkness and could only hold onto memories of what she experienced in the Realm of Light. Thus, she doesn't remember what she experienced, as she said nothing about her experiences, only that she wandered the Dark Realm for a long time, unable to escape.

So, we might as well call her "Aqua the slightly Amnesiac".

I watched the conversation again, too. I don't think her asking who the boy was is unreasonable. It's a bit more of a stretch when she asks what's going on in the RoL, but... I dunno. As far as she knew, the worlds were saved.

Hmm....sounds like a faulty mess up with the mini game since it's on PS4 now. Not surprised since I knew that the game would have a problem or a dozen.

Idk I tried again today and I think the problem was I was pressing on the button rather than tapping it. It seemed to work fine today so it might have been user error here

Not really a bug per say but I can confirm that there's still the issue of if you drop during a boss battle, when that battle restarts the boss has full health

Um, all boss battles start back to full health when you restart it after you end up losing. They normally do that. Otherwise it'll just be too easy the next time around when you restart the battle.

Oh, sorry. Well, I guess it's another Seymour first battle situation because unless you steal his healing potions or attacking him fast enough, that bastard repeatedly heals himself no matter how hard you fight him in Final Fantasy X.

Or it could be a faulty system for the PS4 since DDD HD gameplay is remade from the 3DS version.

Boss fights appear in different areas when you play a new game for the first time if you don't read the cheat-sheets. I mean, you can't prediect or expect everything. That's part of the challenge.

For all we know, Xehanort could mutate himself into a giant monster as the final boss battle for KH3 or something more unexpected.

The problem is you're not paying attention or reading what I'm saying. I'm not trying to be mean but you it's like you're just responding after reading the first 3 words. I was speaking about involuntarily dropping during boss battles... as in, fighting a boss with Riku, being FORCED to switch to Sora in the middle of the battle... and then going back to Riku and the boss is at full health and you're talking about healing myself with potions. What do potions have to do with dropping?

Also on the topic of boss battles... is it me or is every single boss in DDD God awful?


I've heard people say Birth by Sleep has bad boss battles but I honestly never had too much of a problem with them save some of the optional ones. Even the last fight with Aqua in her story which apparently fans just despise I never had a serious issue. But the ones in DDD are just terrible and they either never stop moving or they make it so you have to wait 20 minutes to attack.

I've watched 0.2 and Back Cover. Nothing happens.
However, Back Cover is worth the watch EXCLUSIVELY for Ray Chase's performance as the Master of Masters. He knocks it out of the park.
The Master of Master gets the best material, the best animation work, and the best vocal performance. Steals every scene he's in.

also i think I played DDD out of order... Sora was awfully surprised to see Xemnas for the second time and not surprised to see him the first time.

Oh, you're talking about the Drop Graude or whatever you call it. Sorry, I misunderstood. So if you end up sleeping and switching automatically from Riku to Sora, and ect?...Well that sucks.

Well, only a few of the Dream Eaters are kind of cute. The rest of them are like, "Really?" like the Dinosaur Dream Eaters, Prawns Dream Eaters, and the huge god-awful ugly monkey Dream Eater in Traverse Town. And what's more confusing is the world of Musketeers, especially since one moment Pete is peg-legged, and then back in the present, he has two legs again. Are there two Petes in two worlds or something?

I've heard people say Birth by Sleep has bad boss battles but I honestly never had too much of a problem with them save some of the optional ones. The only world and boss I can say are bad are the Deep Space and the massive dude you fight against-the Alien dude.
