First Soldier is, I imagine, a prequel series that is going to tell us the story we were expecting to see in Crisis Core, the rise of Sephiroth and the war in Wutai. Whether it’s a novel, comic, movie, or game, it’s impossible to say at this point.

I’m going to start calling it First Coldier though. The Compilation has RETURNED. ?

I'm interested that SE were to able copyright a phrase that's in pretty common usage. Likewise DC. "Final crisis" is a phrase that gets used a lot in history books, for example. I didn't think one could do that, but obviously one can. Or maybe only in Japan.

Technically it’s just a trademark, which even with my limited knowledge of IP rights I think has significant differences from copyright?

Copyrights and trademarks do different things. A copyright protects an actual creative or intellectual work while a trademark protects a commercial name, phrase, or logo.

That's why "Apple" is a trademark and no one else can use that word as a brand or company name without being sued since it belongs to a company named Apple.

Same would apply to a game called "Ever Crisis." It's not a "common phrase" when used to sell something like a video game or something.
