Just suggests that they're thinking about a "Cloud" the same day this news came out, and so therefore we should be thinking about FFVII (perhaps because some announcement is imminent).

I think it'd be nice if Ever Crisis is just a HD collection of the Compilation, titled appropriately to fit that naming scheme. The First Soldier sounds too "vignette" to be a game name, has a more novella or OVA feel to me.

If Ever Crisis is related to the remake series, I kinda wish they had gone with Ever Cycle or Endless Cycle, since that would fit better with the themes of life and death, and with what I think is going on with the ending.

Square Enix said they're thinking of Cloud.

On the day they filed trademarks for Ever Crisis, The First SOLDIER, and the Shinra logo.

This is a significant tell, which all but states new media for the Compilation of FFVII is on the horizon. It's either connected to the Remake or separate entirely.

My theory:

The First SOLDIER is a story about a scientifically enhanced super soldier who becomes a legend. The First Avenger. Sephiroth/Evil Steve Rogers.

It will probably be a movie focusing on the life of Sephiroth, beginning during his childhood years and Hojo being a 'father', and then leading into Sephiroth gradually aging and meeting his best friends -- Angeal and Genesis. We will see their golden days of being pals, and then end around the time Crisis Core begins.

This is where Ever Crisis comes in, a remaster or remake of Crisis Core that continues the story. It not only gives people a Sephiroth prequel tale, it also serves to introduce Zack to all the new players who have arrived due to the remake, and will even drop hints and foreshadowing at how Zack will be handled in Part 2.

I've... seriously lost all hope of Nojima and Co. figuring out how to include enough information in their games for the plot to make sense. They just keep putting very crucial information in titles that have nothing to do with that information as far as plot goes and not in the actual game where that information would have been really useful.

And this isn't the usual reapplication for old, already used trademarks. These are new. With the Shinra logo. And something related to SOLDIER.

I dunno, it just doesn't seem like the usual nothing-burger these filings usually are for FFVII.

Still, new trademarks seem to hint at something down the pipeline. Maybe not game wise but media it product in general.

How is the Shinra logo only now getting trademarked? I feel like either they have to renew that trademark, or the trademark isn't the OG one, but the one used for Shinra Manufacturing Works, which doesn't look the same.

Which lends itself to First Soldier.

EC, I don't see this being a connection to CC. Or Zack. Despite the internet saying otherwise. I can see it being about ancient Cetra though.
