Re: Stephen King pwns Stephanie Meyer FGJ
From just chapter one, everyone (but Edward) wants to be friends with Bella but she's a bitch to the ones who aren't attractive. Eric and Mike do pretty much the same thing (are nice to her, offer to help her, take an interest in her), yet she's only nice to Mike, the cuter one. She cries herself to sleep worrying about not fitting in, then when people are nice to her she brushs them off if they aren't models. She uses words like 'ivory-skinned, slender, soft' to describe Bella like they're bad qualities. All the vampires insanely beautiful, as you have to spend several paragraphs reading about it. But everyone else is short, unattractive, annoying or jealous. The whole chapter was superficial.
Perhaps I'll start reading it now and see what I have to say after chapter one. Perhaps I should give myself a cool off, 'cause what you say puts me right off.
I can say this: I read the back description, the part where Bella is saying that Edwards and vampire and she is in love with him. Thing is, when I was done reading those three or four sentences, I was like 'this girl is insane.'
Why would someone willingly put themselves in mortal danger with someone who... basically wants to eat them. It makes no sense, to me. It's like someone who's abused but keeps saying 'but I know he loves me!'
Yeah, I was truly frustrated with that description. But, again, I need to read more to give a more indepth and accurate opinion. :-\
