I want my game remade in all of its glory. Fucked up circumstances, creepy science, bullets to the head, hookers, f-bombs, attempts at interspecies breeding, homoerotic hot tub scenes, beating the shit out of Aeris on accident, EVERYTHING.

I want it all.

But honestly, the game would be rated M and anyone just entering the Compilation (in it for the sparkly men) would be offended and horrified by the game and S-E would lose a chunk of their fan base.

So not only would Square probably put some fucktarded retcon shit in there, they would probably also dumb it down a LOT.

Needless to say, I'm hoping they're talking about KH3. Not that I even liked KH2, though. I just... a remake would just offend me at this point.

I have to admit, Nomura is getting tiring.

A while ago I spoke with some friends at the FF Wiki about this. Compared to Yoshida and Amano, Nomura isn't really all that distinctive. In particular, compare Amano's Terra artwork with Nomura's. There's a sense of beauty and mysticism with Amano's that I just don't feel like Nomura's. His art anymore just looks like generic anime characters. He stayed faithful to Amano in terms of appearance, but didn't fully capture the same spirit.

I like whoever did the art for FF4:TAY. Stylized but still appealing. Get them to do some more projects, let's see more of them.

EDIT - Akira Oguro! He designed the characters for TAY, and also did the character designs for Lord of Vermillion. So yes, moar of him plz.

I'll be the first in line to admit not all of Amano's art pieces are gorgeous works. Take this for example, WTF!?.

But compare this image of Terra with Nomura's art of her. There's just something about Amano's art, a sense of...mysticism I already used, but that's all I can think of. Amano's Terra has a mystical quality that Nomura's Terra does not. Maybe it's just the watercolors, but I actually prefer that Amano art to Terra's Dissidia art. But then I'm biased - I never got over Nomura changing her face in Dissidia, she was gorgeous the first time.

Like I said, bring back that Akira Oguro guy. He occupies a comfortable medium between the two.

I think the best thing that could happen to SE, if I haven't made it clear already, is to sack Tetsuya Nomura. Bring in a fresh fantasy-type artist. Hell, with each and every game, they should give a different artist the chance to direct.

They switched directors round at Studio Ghibli and screwed up what should have been the next Howl's Moving Castle.

Then again, at least Miyazaki is consistent unlike Nomura. He's still a pretty good director and artist though. I don't think they should go as far as sacking him.

You can call Amano's artistic style awesome as much as you want (hell I like it too), but it just seems silly to call Nomura's style derivative, but then go around and put Amano on a pedastool when Amano is JUST as derrivative, if not more, as Nomura.

The guy can't make a character who's not pale, anorexic, blond, or silver haired, unless you put a gun to his head. They all look like pale, pasty waifs. Especially the women. His women really can be bad.

I mean, honestly. Not everyone is gonna like Nomura, and I don't think he's the best either. But saying you want Amano instead of Nomura because Nomura keeps doing the same thing in terms of style just seems bizarre. They're both used to doing the same damn thing.

And I thought Nomura's art for Dissidia was some of the best he did. Even the Terra.

My guess is it'll be Dissidia 2. People have requested it, and people in the game press have shown an interest. Seems like a logical conclusion. I wont hold my breath for a remake.

Agreed, a lot of Amano's characters in particular seem to have the same sort of face. And yeah, every character he draws has the same hair color more or less. His artwork of Cloud and Aerith follow Nomura's designs is beautiful, but was it too much to ask that he make Aerith a brunette?

The problem here is that Amano artwork, albeit beautiful, it’s too complicated to translate from 2D to 3D without the characters looking strange (remember FFV Game Boy Advance FMVs). For FFVII they used Nomura designs, since they were easier to model in 3D.

No one is forcing you to play it, you know. And it's not like all copies of the original will disappear when the remake is released.

If they remade it, and you ended disliking the new version, just ignore it's existence and go play the original.

They haven't really remade them though. Not to the scale it would require to remake FFVII anyway. And again, VII has been demanded and screamed for (SE were even "oh"ed when a special announcement wasn't a VII remake) while V and VI not so much.

That PS3 technical demo trailer certainly hasn't helped.

That and FFVII even had a 10th Anniversary gallery with portraits of characters in their original outfits.

Like Drake said, Oguro seems to be a nice balance between the two of them.

What makes you think that? The mini-game is no different from any motorcycle racing game except with the addition of shoving pursuers off their bikes. They could just make it so he uses the blunt sides of the sword/his feet/his left fist etc.

To be honest, they did that because there was some terrible murder in Japan where a woman was tied up, and beaten to death, and they felt it'd be in poor taste to show that.

If such a violent act hadn't happened, it probably would've stayed in the game.
