You know it's kinda amusing how people go around calling a girl a slut for simply showing interest in a guy. Or how she's a slut for wearing clothing that completely clothes their bodies. Or flirting. Or well anything. Hell, they're a slut for even having an intimate moment with a man they clearly have feelings for and is with no (or very very few) others.

Sorry, folks, but I find this argument entirely judgemental of women in general on both characters. Guess what? Women can wear something "provocative" without fucking everything they can find. Women can say entirely cute and coy things without meaning they're hoping some guy will boink them. Women can have long-term committed relationships or romantic interests without wanting to have sex with a stranger in a parking lot.

Hell even a woman wanting sex for sex's sake doesn't mean she's entirely a whore or something but rather a woman who understands that she wants to fulfill a carnal need and dosen't make more out of it than it is.

Maybe it's just me or does this whole discussion stink of degradation of my gender?

Sorry, I'd just like to go back on this a wee bit... I agree with you... Calling Tifa a slut for wearing what she does is unfair... And since most of the people who look down on women for dressing pretty/sexy or flirting don't bother to do the same to men who act in a similar fashion, it is pretty unfair on women.

I just want to clarify, though, when I called Aerith "slutty" in my post for flirting, and wrong for not waiting for Zack, I added a line at the end to explain that those weren't my real opinions. I merely was pointing out that if Tifa could be called "slutty" for dressing like she's easy, then Aerith could be called "slutty" for acting desperate (where desperate would involve continuing to throw yourself at a man who claims he has a girlfriend, and would like to return to her bar).

To me, both claim #1: "Tifa is a slut because she wears a really short skirt." and claim #2: "Aerith is a slut because she throws herself at Cloud." are retarded. I only brought up #2 because it could be reasonably derived from #1, and the argument at that time was that Tifa was delivering a bad message to young girls (and it was possibly implied that Aerith didn't). I merely wanted to show that that argument could easily be shattered by the very thing it was built upon.

Since I don't remember anyone else calling Aerith slut-like for flirting, I was worried that maybe you thought I'd done that seriously, and wanted to clarify things.

Btw, Quexinox's second picture of Cloud - is it just me or does he look like he's chewing on Aerith's head?????

Actually, Aerith's behaviour did throw me off, for that matter, but I've never thought about her as a slut. A bit bitchy, for acting like that in front of Tifa when she clearly knew her feelings, but heck, I never thought slut.

My dislike for Aerith certainly stemmed from that kind of behaviour though. I just wanted to save the Planet, before I fell in love with CloTi The pitch was certainly when she asked Cloud if he liked fair or tanned girls... that time, I just went 'WTF, Aerith?'

Since then, I've added water to my wine, but yeah, that's what I thought while playing - and avoiding her in my parties at all costs XD FFVII is great in the sense where you don't need a healer in your parties, anyone can heal haha

Also, Disc One: Cloud is wise to none of the girls. That's why I can't even argue for CloTi during Disc One, except while joking

The fact that you can pick either girl (or treat them both like shit) to me indicates that whatever Cloud felt romantically during disc 1 probably doesn't have any bearing on who he's with after the game ends.

Added to which, he wasn't really Cloud at that point in time. All the talk of "Cloud was gonna walk out on Tifa in the bar" and "Aerith is the only person who made Cloud laugh" is very pretty, but shouldn't we focus on what he did after he regained his memories?

Yes, there is. It's ALL of FFVII and the Lifestream sequence in particular and his statement that "nothing really changed" meaning his feelings for her and his inability to express them.

But hell, let's jump to the end of the game. Cloud SPECIFICALLY tells Tifa that he wants to start a new life with her and even emphasizes that he wants them to be together in a manner different than they had been. He's blushing when he says this, so one can infer--with no stretch of the imagination--this is being said ROMANTICALLY. **weary sigh**

Nah, nobody called names, the worst of it was that Mako just threatened to warn me for trolling (which I wasn't), posted fail pic after rage pic, and then unleashed all the anger of anti-Clerithism that festered inside him for months.

In any case, there is sufficient evidence in the complication to support him caring about her romantically. Even excluding optional responses, he storms ShinRa for her, agrees to go out on a date with her, has sharey talk time with her more than anyone else, and claims that nothing else matters after she's dead. So yes, while you can shrug it off as "they were just super special friends", the interpretation of some romantic feelings brewing is far from unfounded.

So I guess US Green Berets who specialize in wartime search and rescue missions are in love with their targets, seeing as how they risk life and limb to extract their comrades from enemy lines

Hell, Galuf must've madly loved Bartz like hell for wanting to rescue him and Faris and Lenna since he stormed ExDeath's Castle all by himself. Galuf/Bartz, right there

And dates definitely mean true love. Especially when you're not your full self mentally while agreeing and participating during said date. I'd say Cloud's reaction to Zack's death too hints to Shounen-Ai if that's the logic of the day. A scream that would rend the earth and release demons from hell, certainly hints more towards love than anything else.
