When DOES Cloud leave in AC/C? AC leads us to believe he may have been gone awhile... then ACC shows us when he met Denzel he (may have?) was already gone to the Church and left. I understand why he left and everything, but what do we have that shows us how long he's been gone for? Or is it all just speculation? And how long has he been gone? Was it like.. 2 weeks or something?

Hm-hm-hm. I'm a little confused myself when he started to visit Aerith's church.
Because when he finds Denzel he's still having contact with Tifa, but he's right on the way of becoming emo.

Yes you can probably show me any number of SE's retarded additions to their stories that claim pretty much anything (including Sephiroth's favorite shampoo, roffles!), but the point stands that if a guy keeps the fuck as far away from a girl as he can (so much as to make a church his home oO) people are going to conclude at the very least he has issues.

That appears to be (part of) the reason why he leaves the 7th Heaven.

And as for why Tifa says he's "running away" - it's been too long since I watched it, but doesn't she say that when Cloud says he's going to meet Rufus instead of go save the kids from Kadaj when Runo discovers their location?

That's been the case from Jump Street. That's the reason he isolates himself, and that's why Tifa is upset and worried. That doesn't mean they're not a real family because by the very action of them acting like a family, and connecting with each other, with Tifa supporting him and giving him the will to fight again, they are a family.

Anyway, when SE say they are a family, they are. In CoT I guess Tifa doubts herself just. "Are we a family? Are we?! Cloud, do you luff me?!" Yeah, you get the point.

"I'm not fit to help anyone. Not my family... Not my friends... Nobody." I do believe Cloud think of them as a family.
Come on. They are one.

He was already torturing himself for failing to save Zack and Aerith. He finds Denzel and thinks if he can save the boy's life, he can be forgiven his "sins." Then he gets Geo himself and thinks it's his punishment. Furthermore, he's unable to find the cure for Denzel. So he leaves to die and to remove his sorry-ass failure self from his family and friends. He doesn't leave because he doesn't love them but because he does, if that makes sense.

@Channy: Read CoT. Then you'd know that he started visiting the church after delivering the flowers to Aerith's grave and becoming overhwhelmed by guilt again. He's seeking forgiveness. It's there he finds Denzel, who he thinks is the answer. Then he gets Geo and thinks he's failed again, and at that point leaves. It's just as CoT ends/AC begins, so he wasn't gone very long.

That's right on bullshit. I'd kill a man who left to "protect me". Maybe it's the way I am but I consider a man a coward he runs away instead of standing to protect the ones he says he loves.

Narrative information is bullshit to me. I don't care if the writers say that Cloud loves Tifa beyond all the ends of the earth and they're meant for each other if he does something as dumb as running away for no good reason. It's how I feel toward a man who does it. I don't care if everyone else feels it's perfectly acceptable and the right thing to do, it's crap to me and I'd kick Cloud upside the head for it. ;P

It seemed to me like he didn't want his friends to know that. If I remember right, Marlene and Tifa only find out he's got the Geostigma after they found the dirty bandages in the church. (Maybe that would help explain his funny almost Tidus-like costume? )
