@Splintered: I don't spend enough time around Cloti forums to know if they warn people or ban them for contradicting Cloti Ideals. I'm sure there are zealous Clotis out there, but on the whole they seem more open-minded than the Cleriths I've encountered.

I disagree. All Fanon pairings I've come across have this problem. In general Clotis are willing to acknowledge that Clerith (or most any other... CLACK, baby!) is a lovely pairing--if not their pairing of choice--and listen to reasons why. If those said reasons aren't touted as canon or completely bastardized that they aren't recognizable as compilation.

This thread is a rough one on the premis that it's less about which pairing is "better" and more about the compilation narrative and what it CLEARLY shows. But you'll see many Clotis in the Clerith "fan club". Trufax.

Eh, I've been in the Cloti fandom for years, and maybe if you told me that a couple of years ago I would have agreed. CloudTifa got the shit end of the stick for years. Neither pairing was in a clear majority but CloudAerith always seemed to overshadow them. A lot of the CxA fans were rude and overly obnoxious when it came to their pairing, at least it was that way early ACforums. I had people to tell me not to cry when Cloud makes out with Aerith in AC after I told them the SE will never, ever, resolve the love triangle.

Then AC comes out and I had no idea what it did but all of a sudden, Cloti fandom becomes overwhelming. At first it was kind of fun but then I saw they were doing the exact same shit CxA fans did the the CxT fans and I hauled ass out of there. I don't see how my fandom can be so much better than theirs when mine calls them a cult for sticking to their otp.

As for CloudAerith forums, most pairing forums, fanclubs, and lj communities tend to do that. The forums is for them to go, meet with like minded fans, and fantard as they wish for their favorite pairing- without people constantly challenging their beliefs. I really see no problem with them keeping it a place just for CloudAerith sharing and not neccesarily for debate. That's what general forums like this is for.

It is a problem when they bitch about us for being "biased" when they refuse to call us on these alleged biases in places where we can respond to them. If not for that I probably wouldn't care about the LTD at all, and I don't disagree with most of the rest of your post (I'm abstaining from saying "all" because there might have been a statement I didn't read the way you intended it).

I don't see a problem with that either. That's not what I was talking about. I'm referring to stories I've heard of the mods at that forum warning or even banning members who like Clerith and weren't debating the LTD, but didn't see eye to eye on all the specifics, such as flowerfield meetups and such. I suspect a lot of fans of Clerith don't buy into all of the more extreme interpretations, but don't necessarily say so at that forum. It's the need to kinda control your members that I referred to as cultish, not the act of gathering to enjoy a shared interest. That's why I mentioned only the extreme ones.
