I don't think they will release short chapters either. I was thinking like a Life is Strange-esque situation, but I saw somewhere that the reason that the new LiS is a single game is that releasing chapters wasn't that much of a financial gain, specially with the problems they had. Still gotta check the source on that, but it seems true enough

So over 20 of us believe that they can finish the entire expanded version of VII, minus the Midgar bit at the very beginning, in two parts?

I don't get this aversion some people have to multiple endings.
I think it’s the finality of having one ending that makes for more satisfying storytelling (if it’s a well-written ending), and personally I’d like to avoid decades of arguing over which ending is more canon than the other

I voted for three parts and I would say they could do it if they go as far as the Forgotten City or maybe the Northern Crater for part 2 and cover the rest of the game in part 3...I think four parts is pushing it a bit though still possible, but anything more than that seems pretty wild to me

I can't decide whether I think it will be three or four parts, so I just chose three in the poll. Half of me thinks three, and the other half of me thinks four. I hope it's three parts in total, though.

Yeah, while I think four is currently the most likely, especially after the developers said the in the Remake Ultimania not to automatically assume it will be a trilogy, I would prefer for it to be a trilogy, especially if the WEAPONs awakening were the ending of a Part 2 out of 3.
It could be a great Empire Strikes Back-esque ending and would leave Part 3 open for a lot of expansion and additions (which is arguably where the OG had its weakest parts in terms of plot (that was unrelated to Cloud) with the Huge Materia quests). And really show how the post-meteor summon world has been affected by having a big doomsday reminder hanging in the sky, like not as dramatic how FFVI changed with the World of Ruin, but lean more into showing the effects than the OG was able to do.
At the very least, as I have said before, I think three parts is definitely more likely than 5 or more parts.

It could have been 3 parts, if they didn't stretch Midgar so much in Part 1, and went beyond it. But they didn't, so now 'Part 2'(the Reunion call, from Kalm to the Northern Crater), is too big to be made into a single game.

So yeah, at least 4 parts.

I think it really depends on how much they plan to stretch the other locations, it can be argued that Midgar had too much filler and that other locations won’t be nearly as long simply because there’s just not as much story

I think 3 parts and I think the way they get it done is open world for part 2 and new tech allowing for a much easier time developing assets. ( Especially unreal 5 if they end up using it )

I'm sure they'll try to earn as much as they can from this Remake, so at least it will be divided in 4 parts. Part one ended with Midgar, so there's still a lot of stuff to tell. I don't mind to wait, the quality will worth the wait for me.

It will be one part per numbered FFs.
Each part will cover the FF7 party poping up from a dimensional interstice on each of the numbered FF world's and saving the people there.

So it will be. A new take on the Kingdom Hats series.

You saying that totally reminded me of my 11 year old butt watching Kamen Rider Decade hop onto every Rider world to fix some bout. Is there any FF game that comes close to that?

What's interesting is... intermission normally happens around the half of the movie. What does that say about the release of the next part? ;)

I can’t be the only person to have wondered...

If FF7 Remake is only going to be one part?

Do you mean like they're done after this, or that they'll tell the rest of the story over downloadable episodes? We definitely discussed that back in the build-up. It seemed unlikely to me given that the project was certain to last over multiple console generations. But I guess if they don't have a problem with simply abandoning the prior gen versions, I guess that's not really an obstacle, lol.

I mean that they’re done. We’ve already played Final Fantasy VII Remake, joke’s on us.

I mean, I posted before that I was going approach this part 1 as a gift of a tech demo of FF7 as though there would never be any more parts. Just a way to enjoy existing and... being in Midgar. So I think I'm emotionally prepared for that.

Seems unlikely at this point. Although, I guess if it continues to careen off the rails, it could still technically be true.
