The Pros of Final Fantasy X-2

I've played VII so many times I can hardly separate the different playthroughs in my mind.

I do remember having trouble with Sephiroth the first time through. A lot of trouble. I was eleven or twelve and had hardly played any games before then(only about thirty minutes of Chrono Trigger and a few hours of Suikoden I).

I was under-leveled, and had made some pretty poor choices for materia. I didn't have any HP Plus on and my characters didn't even have good limit breaks.

I had to restart a few times. Even Bizzaro game me trouble then.

Angra Mainyu was one of the hardest optional bosses I faced in FF. I loved it. I seriously gotta hand it to FFX-2 for having some really cool optional bosses that were a good challenge if you didn't puss out and just use the Cat-Nip. :monster:

Well excuuuuse me. After losing a 45 minute match to Angra, I was pissed. So I came back and wiped the floor with him, is that so wrong? :wacky:

Angra Mainyu was also awesome in terms of design.

Oh I remember that dude now. Longest battle in the game for me imho. But I don't think I died once.

puss out and just use the Cat-Nip.

Boo-hiss! Do you know how many times Trema killed me?!

Just wondering, does anyone else share my opinion that X-2's English voice-acing is better than Advent Children's? Not just the lip synching but the actual direction and VAs.

I think the new voices and returning ones in X-2 was pretty much perfect. In fact, Hedy Burress and James Taylor improved.
While AC, the only voice I liked was Vincent'a and well...it's Steven Blum. I can just watch the Land of Waves Arc in Naruto and get the same voice with a better character and storyline.

You know I just might have to agree with you on that. X-2 did have some pretty good voice acting.

Angra Mainyu was an angry motherfucker. I never beat him. My bf did once for me. :awesomonster:

In terms of good voice acting and lip syncing, this scene takes the cake. Well.... when they get to the slightly high res part and Yuna starts talking about her plan.

Edit: Also when I was looking for that, I somehow found a video shipping RikkuxSephiroth... wtf :monster:

Not much of a feat, but the overall casting is better and execution is better. X-2 still suffers a few moments of awkwardness and questionable dialogue, but nothing anywhere near as offending as what AC offers.

Not to mention a dozen other animes with pretty much the same voice.

Yes but he also does Orochimaru in Naruto and they don't sound anything alike. not to me anyway.

AC is the only dub I've ever heard I'd say I totally disliked. At least G Gundam was cheesy so the VAs fit well.

Though the voice-actors for the last Tenchi Muyo OVA were showing their age since the last one.
All except whoever does Sasami...she also did MOMO in Xenosaga EP1 . A Perfect loli voice.
Which gives me an idea for a new topic.

Eh, I've heard Blum's voice so damn much I can pretty much recognize him in any role.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. I recognized Crispin Freeman right away in Naruto and RE: Degeneration but he's still a god.

It's very much a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. He's sounding the same in almost everything he's in. Even when he's random grunts in games. An actor sounding similar enough from project to project that I can recognize him 90 percent of the time is not a good thing.

Are we talking about Blum or Freeman?
Because you would seriously be the first person I've encountered on any forum or anything anywhere who doesn't like Freeman.

I mean to each their own but that's just one of the few things everyone I've ever met agrees on.

I never said I didn't like either one of them. And no, everyone doesn't agree with it. I've seen people hate on both of them.

I just think that Blum's voice has been overused.

You met people who hate on Freeman? Because they can recognize him in different roles?
Well I can also do that for Tony Jay...
And while hating Freeman is stepping a toe on the line, hating on Jay is jumping across it. That guy was a legend.

My point being, recognizing actors in different roles doesn't make them bad IMO.

Hearing the same voice over and over again in different roles destroys the illusion of it being a unique character. At least as far as I'm concerned. The man may be a good actor butt ffs I'm tired of hearing the same voice in dozens of roles.

And there's no set line of what opinion is considered acceptable when it comes to something like voice acting. You're talking silly, and they hated on Freeman for various reasons.

Seriously, overexposure kills the immersion of an anime. It gets annoying constantly recognizing a voice because it's so similar to other voices of characters they've done before. That doesn't help the character stand out in any way.

Especially in FF's.

After playing X-2 and knowing Gippal, I wish they chose someone else for Zack... or had somebody else for Gippal...

Eh, it's not so bad with Rick Gomez, since he's not in over 6 different popular anime series nor voicing several different games at the same time. That's not really the same thing at all. He's hardly oversaturated the VA industry at all.

Yeah, I'm talking about maybe the same 4 or 5 actors you hear over and over and over till you recognize them on cue in whatever new project they're in.

I hate that.
