Well that does look interesting. They're really focusing on the early days of the infection and how things started to collapse. Which is good because neither the comics, show or video games have done that. I really hope they don't try to reveal where the infection came from, Kirkman has said that's never going to happen.

I like that, but still a little bit on the fence. I mean, we all know it's not going to be as good as the main show (and if it does, I'll be surprised), but it looks interesting. I didn't get an excited feeling, but then I didn't really want to turn it off either. Regardless, you can count on me watching for the reasons you mentioned.

The Walking Dead isn't exactly doing too well right now in terms of quality. The formula has gotten extremely, annoyingly repetitive. So a change is definitely welcomed and since it has no relation to the comics it might give way for some originality and experimentation.

Not a particularly good trailer. Way to much focus on jerk sue Rick, who I really wish the show had the guts to kill off. He's insufferable, he hogs way too much screen time and him dying would be a refreshing turn for the show. It could also properly spotlight the rest of the cast, aka be a true ensemble.
Are the Wolves still a thing? Or did the show just completely forget about them? Cause there was no mention of them in the trailer.

So I just done watched the first episode and I think I'm hooked. I wouldn't have bothered normally but I'd been re-watching This Life and got a sudden and powerful relapse of my girlhood crush on Andrew Lincoln.
But, aside from that its actually rather good. Now binge I must!

Leave it to this show to find an even shittier way to kill off Glenn than the comics did.
Oh and the rest of Fear the Walking Dead was also a complete snooze fest. The kids were way more annoying than Carl ever was, especially the junkie. Also the producers learned nothing from criticism TWD received about killing black characters left and right since the first 3 deaths here were from black guys. Including once again wasting the talents of another actor from The Wire.

What's really interesting is that there were shots awhile back of them on set filming and he was interacting with characters not in the show yet. On top of that Talking Dead and the producers are being super ambiguous about Glenns death. When someone else dies they are very definitive with the selection of words they use.
If you watch the shot its a higher angle cutting off the actual gore frame, which TWD has never done before and the entrails that are coming out are relatively high up, its like they are pulling guts out of his neck almost lol. On top of that his acting isn't quite "im getting torn apart here" either.
If they somehow deus ex machina this it would be beyond retarded.

I have to agree. FTWD was just not good. Such a monumental waste of talent as well. The principal who's name I can't remember, Cliff Curtis character who's name I cant remember, the mexican dad who's name I can't remember.
And the junkie omg. Seriously how can your hair look that fucking bad even in shots after you are shown swimming. This dude legit looked like he has never showered in his life. Such a shitty fucking show.

Yeah that was pretty odd. I mean the angles of the shot and stuff. It kind of looked like it was that other guys guts that was being eaten and Glenn was trapped underneath it all. But it's highly unlikely that you could get out of that situation anyway, like what are the chances that 50+ zombies are going to swarm all over and only eat the other guy? And what would cause them to stop/go away? Annoying.
I mean, I'm glad that stupid guy got killed (can't remember his name) but dammnit Glen deserved better than that.
Other than that, I couldn't get my head around why they had to march all them zombies out of the quarry, why not just set them on fire with some molotov cocktails or something?
But I'm still going to watch it, cos theres nothing much else on, and I must know WILL RICK ESCAPE THE CAMPER VAN DUN DUN DUN?!

I can see Glenn getting out a few ways. All depend on shitty writing but i don't put the TWD writers above it lol.
1) Nicholas blood and gore might be enough to mask Glenn from the zombies and trick them into thinking he's just a zombie as well. This how ever completely ignores that fresh human blood is like super bait though.
2) They don't eat Nicholas fast enough before a Deus Ex Machnia event happens leaving just enough room for Glenn to fight his way out.
3)He somehow manages to cut open a zombies stomach, spilling the innards over himself and masking himself in true zombie camouflage.

As far as dealing with the Quarry in other ways, i.e fire and stuff.
It just wouldn't work and would most likely make problems worse while also burning through resources.
The producers confirmed the quarry had at least 20k zombies in it, and someone on reddit did the math and counted out over 30k zombies there.
Humans are actually not that flammable. The clothes on us are sure but aside from that only our fat is very flammable and you have to heat us up quite nicely to get the fire really roasting.
Also the zombies generally look really slimy and stuff. They look anything but dry in a lot of cases and most look like solid bone so there may not be a lot of fat to get the fire going. I just don't see the fire spreading.
Take in the logistics to set 30k non-flammable things on fire. Optimistically a molotov cocktail will set like what 3-5 zombies on fire? Even with spread that's gonna take a shit load of cocktails to ignite 30k zombies.
And then what? We've seen that fire isn't really that effective on zombies in the show. We've seen the cabin fire zombies just hanging out charred chasing I think it was Carol and Tyrese and we've seen zombies that are still alive from the napalm stuff in the city.
Just imagine 30k zombies on fire walking through the forest towards Alexandria lol.
On top of that let's say it worked. Now you have a gigantic bon fire alerting every human and zombie in the area that something went down at the quarry that isn't that far from Alexandria. It just attracts a ton of attention.
Other solutions aren't that feasible either unfortunately. They were on a short timer because a handful of zombies were more then capable of jostling that truck off the ledge. Some people suggested just building a wall behind it.
If the team starting building at the truck even more zombies would get attracted and knock it off the ledge much much sooner.
Killing them one by one at the other end (the double truck entrance) is also not feasible due to both fatigue (30k is a ton) and also the threat of the other truck eventually falling.
With the scenario presented in the show I just don't see other safer or more reasonable choices for dealing with the quarry =/

Because that would be a smart and safe plan that wouldn't bite their asses in some way in the future and we can't have that in TWD.

As I noted in an earlier post here setting 20k+ zombies on fire would not work (the fire won't spread in a quarry) and would take up a shitload of resources.
Those trucks fell over on their own with just a handful of zombies jostling it. With the commotion caused trying to set 20k+ things on fire they would all definitely go ham hawks and knock the trucks off much sooner, and there wouldn't be any barricades or plans in place to herd them away.
Even if you did manage to set them all on fire it wouldn't kill them. There are tons of cases in the show of zombies not caring about it. Best case scenario you set them all on fire, they still knock over the trucks and then walk towards Alexandria with the added effect of setting everything on the way on fire.
The only time on the show that fire killed most of the zombies was in last weeks episode and that's because they had an entire forest to keep the fire going. Even then there were still zombies in there that survived the roast.
Let's not forget the trucks fell off on their own even before the group anticipated them to and they had to make due and run with it.
Logistically time and resources weren't on their side and setting the zombies on fire would take way to much of both.
Not to mention the plan did work they got over half of them away. The only reason a portion of the herd is at the gates now is because of that horn going off.

Yeah. It's super unsatisfying.
Either way it would have been unsatisfying though I guess. That would have been such a shitty death for one of the last redeeming qualities about the show. Yet having survive was equally as shitty. They wrote them selves into a really shitty corner for half assed drama to keep the boring season going and just cheated their way out.
