Shane started out pretty much normal. He's gotten more and more psycho with each episode. Not sure what the deal is with him. I actually liked him in the beginning (even though he had his issues with Rick's wife (name escapes me).

Dale and Andrea's relationship was the one really redeeming aspect of this episode for me, because she's dropped totally into despair, and wanting to end it all. Then Dale turns around with a "Fuck you, you can't just opt out when other people care for you, so either we're both gonna die here, or you're leaving with me."

OMG, I love him <3 He's like the only consistent voice of reason, and he remains so calm in the worst situations. I hope he lives forever.

Morgan and his kid Duane are doing god only knows, because we didn't see Rick try to radio in an update to them, so for all we know, they'd still be headed to the (now obliterated) CDC, and Merle is driving around one handed, god only knows where, but you don't really get the feeling that the series gave a damn about reminding the audience about either of these plot hooks with this episode, which disappointed me.

You think we won't see them again? I think Morgan and his son, probably not. But I bet Merle will show up after everyone's forgotten about him.

I dunno, I felt like this episode could have been a lot more than it was, and I'm focusing on the things that bothered me more than I liked, but hopefully that's understandable.

I think because this is the first show of this type (that I know of at least), they probably are trying too hard.

Im not sure why you thought the opening wasnt clear on how it wanted us to feel about dislike Shane. He genuinly thought his friend was dead, military was shooting people all around him, walkers were coming in, he stayed as long as he could and barred the door so they they wouldnt eat him.

Well paired with everything else in the episode, it's like "He's not abandoning his friend for no reason, so he's an ok guy" followed by "but he's actually a giant douche." It just felt really disjointed on what they were trying to portray with him this episode... :\

I liked how the comics handled the issue of Shane more.

Especially how he died.

Well, everyone has their own psychosis it seems (aside from Ricks family it seems. I would have said Rick has a hero complex but with the revelation he was always trying to keep them moving so they wouldnt dwell on their hopelessness, Im not sure anymore) so it doesnt bother me.

You never know, I could really see them giving him his death in the comics.

I just watched episode 3-6 in one go, so good hrrrn

I think that's the point though, no one's really sure how he's going to go. Personally, I think he's going to fall out of our good graces, and then get a huge redemption. Probably while dying.

I also really liked Shale at first, and felt really bad for him. But now he seriously needs to get punched in the face. I do feel for him, the world is ending and the one thing he really wanted is something he can't have. I guess everyone needs that "one thing" when shit got real to keep them stable.

Is it weird that I like Daryl? He's such a little fucker, but I keep holding out he will be redeemed and become someone super awesome. He's also incredibly useful.

I actually thought that the scientist would stay alive, but I guess not. BTW, if they kill Glenn off I'll cut a bitch.

Redeemed from what? I mean sure he's a lil redneck racist prick but aside from freaking out a lil after finding out his brother was left to die/had to cut off his hand, what exactly does he have to redeem himself from?

Keep in mind, though, that him being an 'ok guy' was several months ago. He's had more and more issues dealing with his anger and his general mental health as the series progresses, which is a fair thing considering the setting.

Ommgggg, I love them so hard <3. They were my faves in the comic books and they're my faves in the show too. For a second I thought they were gonna kill of Andrea and I raged super hard before Dale was all OBJECTION.

With the way that things ended having them on the move again, and the news that they are gonna be hiring freelancers makes it seem like it's going to turn into a series of Zombie vignettes, and lose the strong core story that is what makes the series as strong as it started.
I'm getting this feeling too - I really hope we're both wrong.

I was actually wondering if they're gonna replace the Governor with Merle, since Merle cutting off Rick's hand would have a sort of twisted poetic justice. Still, I find it odd that Daryl seems to have completely forgotten about him. As for Morgan and Duane, who knows. Maybe at the start of next season they'll have Rick trying to warn them again.

For people worried about the shows writing quality purely because they'd be going freelance, keep in mind alot of british tv does it, including Torchwood.

Also, who wants to bet that the thing the Doc whispered in Rick's ear just before he left was
that they're all already infected?

I was wondering about that.
How does he phrase the results of their blood tests? Doesn't he say something like "nothin unexpected" rather than "you're not infected"?

Yep. Which is exactly what started me wondering. Plus Rick's face when he told him wasn't exactly the happiest of expressions.

Lol the governor.

No way they follow that plotline.

Also Inter, in one of the interviews Kirkman said they changed Shane's fate

I dunno, for me it felt like Shane's descent from "Coppy McHelpinOut" into "Rapey McBuzzkillington" was a little forced, and would have been better as a slightly slower progression. The gun sighting in the woods was a really good "pissed but can't do anything" but it's not even like the situation of being alone that they learn about at the CDC is what cracks him into being that way, since he's douchin' it up before they even learn the news. It was the first episode where I felt like it missed on making me feel a way about a character, without making it feel like it was just, "Ok, time to hate Shane now."

/end rant.

Is it weird that I like Daryl? He's such a little fucker, but I keep holding out he will be redeemed and become someone super awesome. He's also incredibly useful.

Also, aside from just really liking Normal Reedus, I really dig Daryl. Sure he's a redneck and highly biased in his opinions, but once he states that opinion, you know where he stands. You don't have to worry about deception from him, you only worry about what he's going to do next, because he's more than a little off the handle at times. I also liked that while everyone was talking, and it became apparent he wasn't going to kill the scientist, he was just axing the door until the conflict was resolved. He's HELL BENT on survival, and didn't get there with words.

I actually thought that the scientist would stay alive, but I guess not. BTW, if they kill Glenn off I'll cut a bitch.

Also Dale & Glenn are the people I really care about most in the series right now. I'd be ok with pretty much anyone else going down to a zombie attack.

To Tifabelle, you may not like him, but he hasnt wronged the group in any way.
Well, he has a habit of threatening or attempting to kill people. Granted, it was understandable.

But when I say redeem, I meant redeem himself in the viewer's eyes. Not the groups.

Although it already seems he's got people liking him. Which is good, because I like him. More popularity might up his chances of living.

Walking Dead video game?

When an entertainment property becomes as hot as comic book and television series The Walking Dead a video game is sure to follow, but from where? Telltale Games might be readying an adventure series based on the zombie survival epic. They've got Jurassic Park and Back to the Future, so why not The Walking Dead as well? According to an event invitation received by 1UP, Telltale Games has plans to reveal five new multi-platform game projects on February 17, and The Walking Dead might be among them. The invitation describes one of the five new properties as:
"one based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it."
That certainly sounds like The Walking Dead to me, as long as we stick the just-launched bit to last year's smash hit AMC television series and not the Image comic book, which has been running since 20003.
If Telltale does have a game based on The Walking Dead in the works, I shall be quite pleased. We've already got plenty of video games that focus solely on destroying zombies, and that's not what The Walking Dead is about. It's about how humans interact in the bleak post-zombie-apocalypse setting more than anything, and that screams adventure game.
We've contacted Telltale about this speculative rumor and will update this post should we receive a response. Either way, I'm sure we'll know something come February 17.
Update: And Telltale games confirms that we'll know something come February 17, though has no comment on this particular rumor.

The quote really does seem to indicate TWD. Action-adventure zombie survival game could be pretty sweet.
