Elena's super-human tracking abilities strike again. Good be with her again, though.
Libertalia is definitely less grandiose than the other lost cities we've discovered, but that makes sense, and I respect that they didn't feel the need to constantly ratchet everything up. And I like the exchange it makes for Nate being a bit less enthused about it than Sam, though that's also due to what happened with Elena I know.
I did a lot of stealthing again this chapter. It is still enjoyable and satisfying, though sometimes I wonder if I'd be making faster progress if I just shot up the joint. The escape from the treasury was vintage Uncharted though. The way all the physics combine for falling structures and all will never cease to amaze. And the grapple hooks just add that extra layer to Uncharted 2's hotel collapse. Part of me thought Nadine is a bit TOO badass, but Nate and Sam certainly aren't at the top of their game after everything they've been through over the last 12 hours (in game).
Sucks that Sam lied, though
I liked the establishment of the "Drake" last name in the flashback. Uncharted 3 implied that Nathan made up the descendant-of-Drake thing entirely, which I didn't love. I like that this throws a little implication back that maybe their mother really did believe they were his descendants. I am, however, still confused as to how exactly all these flashbacks fit in with the Cartagena sequence in 3. Nate was definitely older than he seems in these flashbacks, and alone (and meeting Sully who we're supposed to think took Nate under his wing at that point), but then he's with Sam again (and Rafe) later during the whole prison thing?
Once again with the oh-so human, believable characters, I've enjoyed Nate and Elena's interactions here. It's obvious she's still hurt and displeased, but she's not enraged and willing to help. Also that she's able to express interest in at least the historical significance of the things they're finding. And I liked Nate's line after she makes that huge jump and he chastises himself for upsetting "a girl like that."
And lastly, it was turbo satisfying to be able to sneak around all the dudes and just hop in the Jeep and speed off without having to fight them. And that's where I stopped.
Having Sully and Elena on the island now only increases my fear of the ending, but I'm still loving it.
