What annoys you most as a fan of ff7?

Hmm my biggest annoyance. Probably the fact everyone says FFVII isn't the best game in the world. *l o l*

Realistically, putting in Genesis imo screwed with the Prequel to FFVII. He could have been before Sephiroth's time, but nooo we'll put in this popular JPop dude in here because in Japan...we love Gackt's crack. It's like us putting Mel Gibson in a God of War Game to look like himself. Just not right.

I hate the ultimania with a passion. One of my favorite parts about ff in general originally was they left so much to interpretation. They even let you name the characters for god sake.

I just enjoyed the freedom of it all before the ultimania.

I thought Genesis being there was cool to. It added a certain layer of depth to Sephiroth's descent into madness IMO.

When you've delt with Star Wars canon, particularly the Thrawn trilogy compared with the prequels, for more than a year, that sort of thing stops effecting you.

Instead of remaking the same once-awesome scene over and over again (okay I know that's not the ONLY thing the Compilation has done, but goddamn I am sick of seeing it), I wish they'd explore some of the mythology and history of the Planet, the Cetra, etc. FFVII's mythology was always a little foggy, why can't SE expand upon that instead of throwing in a million more characters and making the plot more convoluted?

I mean, if you're gonna keep going with this godforsaken Compilation you might as well make it worthwhile.

QFFT. In all honesty the constant Nibelheim remakes are the only thing I truly dislike about the compilation, aside from DOC. The only good thats come from these new versions is getting to see the fight between Zack and Sephiroth.

If they ever remake the OG, I hope to see the nibelheim incident as it once was, with the posssible inclusion of the Zack vs. Sephiroth fight.

To clarify, yes, many people dislike Genesis' design off the basis that he's a military operative that's visually designed from an effeminate Japanese rock idol, and by extension, yet another addition to the FF cast that's male yet looks feminine, and I believe that's legitimate, yes.

I generally pretend that the Thrawn trilogy is canon and that the prequels don't exist. It's much better for my sanity.

As for my pet peeves, I can't decide whether the blind fanboys or the blind anti-fanboys are more irritating. FFVII is neither the best nor the worst game ever made. It's a groundbreaking game with a number of flaws the prevent it from being perfect.

It was the wording that got to me, in the same way that how people used Lance Bass being gay (and nothing to do with his actual barely-audible acting in Kingdom Hearts) as a basis for saying he's not worthy of playing Sephiroth did.

I can see your point on it and the reasoning behind it. I didn't personally see Genesis as being that effeminate, at least any more so than existing characters like Sephiroth. Is having long, flowing hair, long leather coat, and an exposed chest an appropriate look for a military operative? The original game didn't exactly set a hyper-masculine nor practical standard for the appearances of its military personnel.

I never really thought, on the whole, that Gackt was that effeminate to begin with, though. Maybe not 'macho' or anything like that, but not really warranting being described as 'flaming'. But maybe I have a high threshold for effeminacy there since the first Japanese musician I saw a picture of was

Genesis is pretty, but he ain't that fucking pretty. He's clearly a man and masculine. He's probably in the middle in terms of masculinity, amongst the elite SOLDIER 1st Class trio.
