  • Skyward Sword. No more than an hour into this, but it's stunning so far.
  • Portal. According to the numbers on the wall I'm on level fifteen of nineteen, but level fifteen has been way longer than anything else I've played thus far in the game. I also briefly played Portal 2 (GLaDOS has predictably been reactivated already), but I've decided not to pursue it further until I've beaten the first game.
  • Super Metroid. Basically just dicking around in this because I've already beat it and have all the items except one set of missiles. I have no idea which one. I'm not sure it will ever cease to be fun to kill things with the screw attack, however.

Definitely beat the first portal first. But the second one is a vast improvement. Instead of dungeon crawling to a boss there's an actual story! Weird how good the first one was even without a storyline...

Tower Defense right nao...When are we doing that whole play through of FFVII as a forum thing?

I'm currently playing Patapon 2. And it's awesome XD I have to admit that it's one of the most enjoyable games I played so far.

Started Playing FFV yesterday.

Though its probably not how the game should be played, I've decided to select a job class for each person, and will only change it when they've completed learning it. Might look at some guides today, since I'm not sure how many levels the job classes have. One issue with this strategy is that I don't have a black mage on my team, and I think the game is a bazillion times harder because of it. I'm coming up to bosses now with exploitable elemental weaknesses (that I can't take advantage of) that are attacking rapidly before I can revive and heal my people. I really like the monk class though.

Currently replaying Final Fantasy VIII and then IX. Recently bought them on the Playstation Store. Going to do every little side quest in both and complete them completely

  • Mario Kart Wii. I suck at it, but I'm slowly getting better. I'm mostly playing this with my dad, who is also slowly improving.
  • Skyward Sword. Still not very far yet, I haven't even passed the Wing Ceremony, but it's amazing so far. I haven't figured out how to reliably slash diagonally yet. There are very few cases where this is actually necessary but it's annoying. Any pointers?
  • Super Metroid Redesign. This is almost Kaizo level difficulty at parts. I've actually taken to exploring using a completed save from the original Super Metroid (which I eventually got to 100% completion) and will go back to my normal save file when I'm satisfied I have a vague idea of the way around the hack. There appear to be a lot of walkthroughs on YouTube but I don't want to use them if I can help it. Though I already have viewed a TAS of what appears to be about half the game. I couldn't follow it at all. :monster: It's also confusing that the physics are way different from the physics of the original game. Just when I thought I had gotten used to the gameplay I have to get used to it again :monster:
  • Still working on Kamek's Revenge too. Almost through world 3, but I'm stuck on one stage where I keep getting 99. I think it's 3-7.

Strange, I find diagonal slashes to be easier most of the time, but that might just be me. I have noticed, however, that it's easiest to do a diagonal cut from over my left shoulder, arcing down past my right hip, or the reverse of that. Bending my wrist so Link draws the sword all the way back and around on screen and then straightening mid-cut, as you would for some genuine sword slashes, also seems to help but that might just be muscle memory on my part.

On a non-helpful note, if you think its amazing pre-Wing Ceremony... yeah get ready to have your breath taken once you do.

Also, as long as we're asking for advice: I suck at sky-diving. Like really, really suck. And its preventing me from getting some stuff. Anyone got any advice on that? I seem to just plummet like a stone if I try to steer at all, and if I stay flattened out to drop slower I'm not getting where I'm going :monster:

Thanks for the hint. Hopefully it will help.

All right, I've gotten so frustrated with this that I'm almost tempted to quit. There is some cool shit in this hack, like this (spoilers, don't view if you don't want the solution revealed to you):

And this is enough to make me want to keep playing. I don't mind the fact that you have to wall jump a lot more despite the changed game physics making it way harder to wall jump, or the fact that some enemies take away a whole tank of energy if they hit you. It's a ROM hack, it's almost obligatory that there be insane difficulty. But then there is other shit that is just completely fucking ridiculous. For instance, this:

Fuck that. It would take two hours to do that correctly even with save states. I've given up the idea of 100%ing this hack without cheats. I found one that allows you to keep your acceleration for shinespark until you use it and I'm going to apply it liberally.

The other thing that pisses me off is that the infinite bomb jump trick is necessary a lot. I don't mind that so much, but the hack makes it so that you only have three bombs and you have to wait for bombs to explode before you can use more of them, which means you can't just spam bombs everywhere. That's absurdly annoying.

I think I'm going to go to other hacks and then come back to this one. This thread recommends starting with some other hacks. It looks like I started with one of the hardest.

Final Fantasy V (again) - I'm up to the second world, just returned dragon grass to the castle to heal the dying dragon. I was quite naive in my first posting. I've since changed jobs several times (except my Knight, who is my tank), The monk really isn't doing it for me any more. Enter the sorcerer! (who was my former monk.) Magic sword seems to be kicking arse at the moment. Thinking of testing out berserker just for shits and giggles. I hate how Phoenix Downs and Ether are remarkably expensive.

I FINALLY started Assasin's Creed Revelations. It was getting late and I only played about 45 minutes, but it was important that I just actually start the game. A promising start, I'm looking forward to getting into it more. Although it is competing with Skyrim which I have also underplayed. Also competing with incessant Uncharted multiplayer requests :P
