Are you looking for a part-time job over the school year?
Are you good at working with computers and solving computer-related problems?
Are you hard-working, outgoing, friendly and willing to learn?
If so, Housing & Student Life IT is interested in you joining our team. We are looking to hire several residence students as Internet technicians.
As an Internet technician, your duties will include the following:
1. Taking direction from the IT Administrator & Coordinator
2. Being primarily responsible for the Internet connections in all the residence buildings
3. Attending regular evening shifts during our office hours. This includes both manning the Internet support desk, which is located in the front lobby of the Arthur V. Mauro residence, as well as visiting resident students rooms to diagnose and resolve Internet-related issues.
Hours: For September & January, you are required to work 2-3 evening shifts per week as well as the initial move-in weekends for both months. For all other months, you will only have to work 2-3 evening shifts per month. All evening shifts are 3.5 hours long and will be during the weekday.
Wages: Your residence account will be credited $1500 ($750 for September and $750 for January) and you will also be given a netbook computer (model to be determined) so long as you work for us for the entire school year. The netbook computer will be yours to use for this position as well as to keep afterwards.
A strong background in computers, and any relevant or related experience, is preferred but not necessary. If you are interested in computers, are a quick learner, and willing to work hard then we encourage you to apply.
If you are interested in applying or would like more information, please forward your resume and/or questions to [email protected]. The deadline to apply is Sunday, July 31st.
Thanks for your interest and we wish you all a successful academic year.
Regards,
Housing & Student Life – IT Team
So I just got the following email from the university I'm going to in the fall:

Needless to say this is right up my alley and I did the math, works out to ~15.87$ an hour PLUS the netbook on top of that, and as I was intending to actually buy a new laptop for school it saves me from having to do that. I was really hoping to find some sort of IT work while in school so needless to say this really made my day.
