So I got Deus Ex: Human Revolution for $30 at Best Buy brand-spankin' new on Black Friday right, and it was the last copy, so that was already awesome. Open the box and realize there's a pre-order code, and I didn't think much of it, but I redeemed it anyway. Turns out I got the Tactical Enhancement pack. Me gusta.

Finding out that the app I helped built (about 50% of it?) in the past few months was downloaded 275.000 times in the span of just a week. That's a figure I just can't wrap my head around.
The other one, an iPad app released a month or so ago, was downloaded 22,000 times.
I really really really can't believe or even comprehend almost 300,000 people are using stuff I made. It makes the dozen or so shitty reviews about trivial shit... well, trivial, even if just 1% of people are actually into reviewing, that's still a tiny amount of complaints. Which we'll fix nevertheless, seeing that for every one person complaining there's probably ten thousands also complaining but not to us.
Same goes for TLS, actually - since its inception in '08, 582,615 unique visitors have visited the front page and read our stuff.
Just in case you're wondering, no, such figures won't get you laid in themselves
. I also doubt going around and loudly announcing 'YEAH I BUILT THAT SHIT' would. Then again, I did have a pleasant interaction with a cute one some months ago, mainly involving me fumbling around with simcards and an ancient iPhone, .
In other news, I'll be doing cool, experimental stuff next year at a new R&D / mobile division at the Dutch national railways, and with any luck I'll be getting a new laptop to do it on - seeing that the huge Dell workstation I got for work initially just can't do iPhone development. Oh, and travel time should be a bit less too. Still nothing definitive though.
