Mine arrived yesterday and after I got home from my farewell happy hour I ate dinner and accidentally fell asleep >_> I was not happy...I wanted to play it.

That video is a good example of the extreme fanservice in this game. I've only played the first couple of hours so far and I'm actually really impressed with the character interaction and how well that comes across, there's a lot of humour in this. It probably helps that it's a cheery environment rather than the serious nature of most FF games.

So yay or nay? I'm wondering if I should get it. I actually need to play the PS4 my hubby bought recently! xD

I've put in four hours so far and I'm a definite 100% yay.

I'll post some impressions when I finish playing for the night (soon) but yeah, I'm actually shocked by how much I love it. I wasn't all that impressed by the demo but once you get the hang of the combat it's just pure joy as an FF fan. The dialogue and references are spot on in English.

Looking forward to playing this non-stop over the weekend.

There are some options to play around with re: gameplay. I found a secret black chocobo mirage and this happened:

DAT MUSIC

ALSO A TONBERRY RUNS THE COLISEUM AND HE SPEAKS WITH AN OLD MAN VOICE OF JOY

You know what guys, the whole game is pure joy so far. I'm really taken with it, something about it just feels like the beginning of a new age of FF altogether what with XV coming soon and all. I really hope this does well sales wise, it's already got great reviews (and they're well deserved).

You can really feel the love poured into it. It's cutesy yeah but it's still FF through and through (so far, I need to keep saying that in case it turns to shit later XD).

- Battle system feels like a mix of Persona, FF and Pokemon all in one
- You can hold R1 to speed up the ATB and cutscenes
- You can turn off voices altogether, but the voice acting is excellent so far (in English aswell, though Japanese is available as an option)
- FF in-jokes abound in every description of... anything. The monsters, key items, NPC dialogue. I have laughed so many times
- NPC dialogue is all voiced and unique
- Something about the movement in the demo felt heavy/ slow, I don't have that feeling with the final game
- I like both of the main characters. The guy is goofy and a bit of an idiot, and the girl is smart/ mature and always telling him to stfu. There was a whole scene where the guy (Lann) was just making constant pun-jokes with another character and the sister (Reynn) basically outpunned them all. Very likable.

I could see how the general tone and atmosphere could get annoying to certain people. People who don't know how to experience joy, that is. You have no soul if you don't like this fucking game I swear XD

I have two very minor gripes with it. One is that the menu (the main triangle one) doesn't feel snappy enough. Coming from the XIII series which - say what you will about it - has the most fluid menus ever, it feels a bit slow and at times clunky. Just in terms of moving around the options and having to wait a sec to access sections and such. I actually can't remember what my other gripe is right now so it must not be that important XD.

ADVICE: In config, set battle speed to max, ATB to wait and battle menu to Classic. I had ATB mode on "semi-active", but this meant sometimes enemies were taking their turns before I'd chosen commands even though it was my character's turn (that would be the semi active part).

I knew I was likely going to get it anyway. But it was the demo that convinced me. About halfway through it became very clear the amount of depth they were going to get out of the stacking system.

I don't have a PS4, but I watched the gameplay on Youtube.

Watched the entire thing, and, (Warning: Read if you are willing to risk it)
while the game is cheery and good...I discovered that the game has two endings depending on your actions. Both broke my heart, but not more so than the bad ending.

Ending 1(Bad ending)-Not gaining allies from the Final Fantasy characters: Lann and Reynn learn of their terrible actions and their parents and another character are instantly killed by the main bad guy, and Lann sacrifices himself to shield the antagonist and himself inside a barrier forever, leaving Reynn and Tama grieving, and then return to Ninewood Hills, where the credits is anime-style and Reynn continues to mourn for the loss as the town rains. At the end of the credits, Lann seems to come back, but the screen cuts black to the spooky style of "END" appearing.

Ending 2(Real Ending)-the true ending after gaining all Final Fantasy allies: Lann and Reynn and their allies fight and defeat the main antagonist and force him to enter a portal to somewhere but he refuses to go, so the twins force him to go while going with him, sacrificing themselves in the process and the worlds are saved but split-sort of Kingdom Hearts way. The fates of the twins remains unknown.

You would think that this game, being for younger players, it would have both protagonists to survive while Final Fantasy XV will probably have a very emotional game. But the endings of this game shocked me.

In the end, it was a good game.

I took screenshots of VII's world. It's interesting:

So the "Nibelheim" appears to be a weird amalgamation of various VII elements. The NPC's mention SOLDIER, Shinra and such. Tifa is the champion of the region, huzzah :monster:

Apparently in this version of VII's world, Shinra use volcano lava instead of Mako XD

I am legitimately crying from laughter. The dialogue in this game is top notch.

In which the moogle and the cactuar have a bunch of nicknames for the super serious old-man-voiced tonberry and he greatly disapproves

You might recognise the voice of Serafie, it's Nancy Sullivan from the Amanda show/Drake and Josh.

Kath Soucie is also the voice of Vivi, I wondered why it sounded so familiar.
