Unfortunately Nintendo have never had the superior system. The gamecube was a generation behind the PS2 and Xbox and the Wii was a generation behind the Xbox 360 and PS3. I haven't tried the WiiU and I've heard great things about it.

While most Nintendo games have been of top quality they don't deliver a whole lot of games aimed at older audiences. There are definitely plenty of games that aren't for kids but they certainly lack a lot of games I love such as Gears of war, Halo, Dynasty Warriors, InFamous, GTA and many others like them.

Their online service has never delivered much either to be honest. They are certainly less evil than the other two companies, mind.

i have been a hardcore nintendofag for years but the wii was a goddamn joke and so is the wii u.

have you seen the wii u section at gamestop? probably not because it's two shelves shoved into a corner like the bastard kid no one wants to acknowledge.

the gamecube still managed to be a fucking great console, despite being a gen behind. the wii just ugh i have no idea what happened (oh right, lack of third party on their shitty waggle system).

every time i think about the fact that technology has finally caught up with what they wanted to achieve with crystal chronicles square just sits on that shit and nintendo doesn't expand that idea to a new IP to sell their fucking tablet (HEY A MULTIPLAYER ADVENTURE WE'RE FUCKING NINTENDO WE'RE ALL ABOUT ADVENTURE AND PLAYING WITH YOUR FRIENDS)

i want to scream

STILL MAD ABOUT IT, ALWAYS MAD ABOUT IT

I don't see what's wrong with the Wii or the Wii U. And I don't see what's wrong with kid-friendly games either. And I was referring moar to their handheld consoles anyway. I'm moar of a handheld gamer than a console gamer.

And yeah, SE should totally make another CC. I want another Tactics too. And no, that new Tactics social game that will likely be fail doesn't count.

EDIT: And I won't be sold on a PS4 until I see a game worth buying for it.

their handhelds are great. in fact, they should probably stick to those. i don't have a problem with kid friendly games as a rule (shit i love animal crossing) but i don't like the exclusion of everything else. think about some of the best titles that came out this gen. bioshock, mass effect, dragon age, dishonored, fallout, elder scrolls, dead space, on and on and on, and none of those things i can play on the wii. sure, i love fun easy, kid-at-heart adventures but i'm also an adult and i like playing mature games too.

and honestly nintendo exclusives are getting pretty stale. i love zelda to death, but shit, would it kill nintendo to create new IPs, especially for their new consoles? when their new consoles are experimenting with technology, having a new ip made specifically to show it off would be great! fucking pikmin was the last new IP we got. come ON, nintendo. would it be so bad to shave off some of the mario games in favor of something completely fresh or is that too much to ask at this point?

Wait whoa what.

If the Gamecube was a generation behind PS2 it would have had N64 graphics. :P

The Gamecube was the superior system fyi. Just look at how RE4 had to be toned down for the PS2 release.

It was only with the Wii that their systems started to be the bottom end in terms of technical/graphical capabilities.

Yeah Nintendo handhelds rock. Of course their is only one competitor and they do a pretty shit job of it, to be honest. I just wish Nintendo would make a decent Pokemon game or a proper MMO of it.

I loved Twilight Princess...more than most people, apparently. But I think Sony has better exclusives, when you get right down to it.

I'm in in NO rush to get a PS4, I'm very happy with my 3. But this system sounds terrible. And the WII U, so far, is a joke.

The Wii has some good games, but if I was stuck with only one console, it would never be the Wii. No Bioshock, no Mass Effect, no Arkham series, on and on. Xbox was definitely my choice of console this gen, but if this is what the Xbox1 has to offer it's a no. I'm not a console elitist, I'll jump ship if that ship is breaking down.

I'm with Force, I don't need to get a next gen system right now, there are so many games I haven't played yet on this system (makes me laugh about how they are trying to spin the lack backwards capability as a matter of little interest). Hopefully by the time I'm ready to buy a new console, they will have gotten this shit straightened out and have something to offer other than Call of Duty.

The only thing about the PS4 is that there's speculation that the PS4 may have something similar to the Xbox in terms of Used/New games fees, so at least the two major hardcore gaming consoles will be united in pushing out the used game market. eHhhhHHh, hopefully that's just all rumors though.

I really hope they have better sense than that. A lot of gamers will buy new shit (or convince their parents to do it for them, as in the case of the youngin' in my house) without much concern knowing that they can play it, trade it for a little toward the next game, and then move on to that next game.

I can't imagine this fee for used games is going to be good for anyone. Certainly not GameStop or GameFly (or RedBox with its game rentals) -- which means it will be bad for their customers too.

And as I've said elsewhere, it's not so much about the used games, it's the fact that I won't be able to bring a game over to my friend's house and show it off (which, by the way, has resulted in game sales for a company before). I'm already pissed that the current systems make it difficult to bring a save file with me.

I loved the previous gen when I could just bring a game and a memory card to a friend's.

Yeah I don't see how this is not going to crush Gamestop tbh. They make the majority of their profits from used games. I'm not entirely unsympathetic to the used gamed issue, I understand it hurts the industry. I try to by new whenever I feel the need to support a game company.

But fighting the used game market by attacking... the actual players strikes me as dumb and a good way to lose player loyalty. And interferes with how gaming is done socially/by friends as well. Like I said, I have three siblings, all gamers, I'm probably the most casual one in my family. We trade games all the times, we have friends occasionally pop over to play. I wonder how Gamestop is going to react, I wonder if dicking over your major distributor is going to cause serious problems.

Innovation is suppose to spark new ways of interaction, or effectiveness, or fun. It's not suppose to take away from an experience.

This idea is so mindboggling bad and feels like one colossal bullet in the foot that I actually can't see this moving forward if the PS4 didn't go along with it. Otherwise you may have just pushed the PS4 into the finishing line. I just hope I'm being pessimistic and it's just a case of dumb that the Xbox was experiencing.

Wii U has Arkham City. And it will be getting EarthBound, and EarthBound>All, except FFVII and Mother 3, which EB is equal to.
And Nintendo handhelds pwn all. They have Pokemon, which is, along with the Mother series and the FF series, the greatest RPG series of all time. Plus they're portable and unlike consoles, you don't have to hook them up to your TV, so you won't get into fights with your family over whether to play your game or watch TV.
Addendum: Zee, I would avoid getting a FailBox One. I'd tell your friends the same. And if polls are anything to go by, almost no one intends to get one.

Not really. Most people wont buy a certain game (or even movie) unless its used and its price is incredibly marked down. The publisher would not have had that sell to begin with and thus it really doesnt hurt them at all. They just like to claim it does hurt them.
This is going to royally fuck over Gamefly and redbox, especially once other people in the industry see how accepted it eventually becomes. It may not be a popular option now but I hardly think thats going to make it go away :<

Regarding all of the "social network" crap thats being tacked onto the console and was the main feature of the show. It makes sense :monster:

These shows are generally for the shareholder and not the gamer. Showing a crapload of services signed up for your new investment isnt a half bad idea, not to mention all the revenue it will generate.

Every time you sign up for netflix or, the sunday ticket, MLB season pass ect Microsoft gets a cut just like it is in the sat and cable business. For them to sit there and focus on all of these revenue generating options that can be accessed at any time by the customer makes sense, vs showing off games that are very slow to get to the point of sale.

Looking past all the PR bull shit its obvious the social media crap isnt for the customer, sure they can make intuitive to use so that its a nice addition, but dont be fooled its all just extra options for them to continually make money either through subscription or advertisements.

Seeing the financial mess some game developers/publishers are in, I can see how paying a license fee to play used games can help those companies. But surely there can be a better way to manage the profit books than by burdening the loyal customers. They're already giving us enough problems with dumb DRM (more so than the pirates I may add).

If microsoft goes through with this license fee, they damn well better lower the retail price on games to lessen my cost.
Other than those concerns, I like the promise of the Xbox one, so far.

So I guess XBox One is like SE's social games: utter shit and designed to milk your money for what it's worth.:monster:

Everything is like SE then :monster:

I guess my over all point though is ; dont watch console reveal conferences(As well as E3 Keynotes) if you want to see what kind of gaming it can do. That causes it to lose stock (i.e. PS4).

If you want to see how it can game wait till reports flow in from the E3 Game floor.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion and I'd like to pre-face it by saying I am not an EA fan boy lol.

But I REALLY like what they did with Battlefield 3.
They released Battlefield 3 =60$
Then released "Premium" = 50$

Premium let you get all of the DLC for the 50$ price tag, which was a discount considering there was 5 different DLC all at 15$. On top of that you got a bunch of extra in game content and assignments, as well as content through there Battlelog service, and also got Beta access to BF4. In addition you could even play the DLC up to 2 weeks before it was released.

On top of that several motnhs later they re-released the game as a premium edition that was basically 40$ for the whole shebang.

Sure they double dipped, but you really got a shit load of content for a very fair price imo. Especially considering the game had a 2+ year multiplayer life cycle. Most players easily put in 600-1000 hours of game play, and it all averages out to like less then 10 cents an hour to play all of that content.

In the future, if the game is good and wont be like CoD (i.e. have a life cycle longer then 8 months) I seriously would not mind dropping coin on a service like BF3's premium again and would support any other Devs who would look into it.
