Priest Seto's relationship with Kisara would have gotten a lot more screentime, and her death at the hands of Aknadin would have lead to a subplot where Seto betrays Atem and goes off on his own with the intent to avenge Kisara. But apparently the series was starting to get less popular and the editors wanted Kazuki Takahashi to rush to finish the story, so his grand plans for the above were cut short. Hence, Seto's rebellion against Atem and his romance with Kisara not being fully developed in the memory world arc.

Can I just say...

Yeah, Drake. It really is unfortunate what got cut sadly in the Millennium World arc. Between Takahashi being sick during that time, and publishers putting pressure on him to either get back to more card games or wrap it up, Millennium World wasn't allowed to fully be his vision.

No, Noctis. Not all the duels in 5Ds are on D-Wheels. There are "Ground Duels" (which are like normal duels) and then there are "Riding Duels" (which are on motorcycles).

Studio Dice's website was updated again. And the artwork on there is...simply fantastic. Not just on the main gallery but the sketches too. Here are some of them.

In this GX Sketch which showcases a badass and frightening looking Takuma Saiou, notice Yugi in the background. I can't help but think this was a sketched inspired by Takahashi's other planned YGO movie idea for the GX franchise called "Yu-Gi-Oh! vs GX!"

You can read about the details of it here. In short, it would've been like Season 2 of GX, where Duel Academia goes on a field trip to Domino City, and during their trip, Judai and co team up with Yugi and co to take down Saiou, who had an ambition of defeating Yugi and the other legendary duelists of DM. Unfortunately it never came to fruition.

But apparently Takahashi got his wish to crossover the YGO series in the end, anyways. But I always sigh wistfully at what could've been a better use for Saiou and the GX Season 2 plot. That sounded so cool.

Check out the other sketches for 5Ds, and gallery art at the website. It's just simply amazing. I seriously hope he keeps adding more. Seeing all this badass design work is just awesome.

Don't forget the hot rose whip bondage duels. :awesome:

Is there an animator connection behind why the Millennium Items originally involved a lot of rainbow-effects in addition to simply shining in the early seasons but that slowly disappeared.

It mostly happened with Yugi, for most of Duelist Kingdom his third eye would show up almost exclusively as rainbow-y and occasionally the Puzzle itself would as in my avatar. However, I do remember a few occasions where both Pegasus' and Malik's Items shined rainbow-y in the center of the Eye.

Just musing.

Yami, Marik and Pegasus have their Millennium Items glow rainbow...

I'm crying because that joke is so easy to make it's hard to decide if its fair to make it or not...okay here goes.

They glow that way to foreshadow that the owners of the items are simply FABULOUS!

WHY DO PEOPLE CALL ATEM YAMI YUGI.

I never understood that.

I know he's Yugi's ~darker side~, but using Yami Yugi as his actual name confuses me. I mean, I don't think he was even called Yami Yugi in the manga/anime.

As for the rainbow glowing Millennium Items, Robot Unicorn.

Well for the entire series before anyone learned his name I'm pretty sure that was the accepted term. I still say it from time to time.

I haven't watched the English version in a while; do they call him Yami Yugi?

I'm pretty sure in the Japanese version the closest they call him Yami Yugi is Yami no Yugi, but not actually Yami Yugi.

I ought to smack you for that.

No, the dub calls him something worst. They called him "Yami" in the Doma Orichalchos arc. :monster:

Atem was referred to mostly as Yugi, "the other Yugi" or sometimes the "dark Yugi" in the beginning of the manga. Which would be precisely, "Yami no Yugi." Same goes for Dark Malik. Yami no Malik. Dark Malik was called that a lot in Battle City. Atem/Yugi never called him just Malik since they knew the truth, he was always "Yami no Malik" in their eyes.

Yugi's friends themselves just called Atem "Yugi" until Season 3, and then he became 'the other Yugi', "Nameless Pharaoh," and then finally, Atem.

Yes...Yami was quite unfortunate, it was nice when they just started calling him Pharaoh... According to my admittedly limited Japanese knowledge, "Yami Yugi" would still be technically correct. "no" connects nouns, so "Yami no Yugi" would be "Yugi of Darkness" or something, but Yami Yugi should still be correct as "Dark Yugi"...but Tres or hito will no doubt correct me soon if I'm wrong on that.

(EDIT: I see you looking at this thread hito and its making me paranoid!:scared:But I just checked again and I'm pretty damn sure that 闇 can be both a noun and an adjective...)

But do you have any idea as to my original question, Mako?

Oh, this question, Force?

Honestly, I do not know. Probably just design direction choice or something. I don't think that's really tied to one specific animator. The whole glow seems to be more towards a pure golden color instead of the rainbow gleam since...Season 3 of DM, now that I think about it.

In regards to "Yami no Yugi" I would think it would be more precise since they thought of Atem as Yugi's dark side, or darkness. Like...a split personality or something. "Yami Yugi" makes it sound like its....a separate, reverse type of Yugi. If that makes sense.
