Didn't Lin attempt to arrest Pema once? I think that's a better reason for Pema to take revenge on Lin with Meelo (cruel, CRUEL Pema! XD).

Yeah, but Pema is likely not taking "revenge" because of jealousy but because of the arrest.
And the tone of the scene is comedic, I doubt it will actually happen their relationship in any serious moment.

What? I never heard that in the show. Where was it? I only remember Tenzin saying that Lin tried to arrest Pema at one point, but it doesn't say why.

It does say why, Korra said :i'm surprised lin didn't try to arrest her. when they were talking about tenzin being a "heart breaker, and Tenzin said she had tried. Pema must have known the reason why, she and lin had known eachother.

Yeah, but Pema is likely not taking "revenge" because of jealousy but because of the arrest.

I didn't say she did so out of jealousy, but they obviously aren't on good terms BECAUSE of romance, that's what I was getting at before, no female on this show in the same age range gets along with each other because of that and it's annoying.

I don't know...while Asami has definitely been hurt by the sudden revelation of Mako's and Korra's feelings for each other Asami has not shown and hostility or resentment directly towards Korra herself. Even in episode 8 Asami called Korra "amazing" and that was after she had found out from Ikki that Korra liked Mako.

Yes but they are on awk terms because of romance, it isn't a normal friendship between girls, it's marred by romance.

Oh yeah it is awkward right now, but I would not be so quick judge their relationship as completely ruined. But I do get your overall point, but I just doubt Bryke will end the season with any of the protagonists on unresolved bitter terms.

No it's far from being completely ruined, it just should never have come to this in the first place imo. As soon as the characters were announced I was afraid that this scenario would play out and it did >.> I just want Korra and Asami to have a healthy relationship. When Asami was showing her racing skills Korra and her seemed to get along pretty well, I want that back D:.

And I know makorra is going to happen, and I don't mind that it will, I just want it to gtfo until season 2 maybe towards the end.

Eh, Bryke did say that the series would have a "big cheesy love triangle" in more or less those exact words, so it is not like we can claim we were not "warned".

"cheesy" does not entail marring possible friendships, I mean obviously Toph liked Sokka and it was one sided, and Suki must have known partially about her feelings(she kissed her by accident) but you didn't see them at each others throats tokka foreva though

I doubt any "marring" will be permanent by the end of the season, Mako and Bolin were able to recover, I am sure Asami's and Korra's relationship will be fine by the end.
And as for the descriptor, Bryke were directly comparing the romance subplots of the different shows, they did indicate that that romances would cause more drama and tension this time around compared to A:TLA.

But it's not impossible to make a love triangle wherein two girls don't claw eachothers throats out/and are actually friends...I just wished they had taken that alternative, and I never said it would be permanent.

And this love triangle does not have the girls "clawing each others throats out", heck Mako and Bolin had more heated arguments/dialogues about their love triangle with Korra, than Asami and Korra have had with each other. I really don't think it is as bad as you're making it sound like. Unless episode 10 changes it for the worse Asami and Korra are still friends, Asami is just feeling a little hurt at the moment.

On the matter of triangle, I guess I'm the only one who enjoys the whole DRAMAZ. Blame the fact that I grew up with ancient Greek theatre, which is FULL of drama and ancient cheese (no, really! Just look at Oedipus!).

On the matter of Lin and Tenzin, I think I have pin-pointed the reason why they broke up: children. Tenzin wanted them, Lin didn't. That's why Tenzin has a BIG family now and Lin hasn't got any. He did say that they had different goals. Which is a perfect reason for breaking up in general. AND remain good friends without any grudge remaining.

Mind you, all this is speculation, but heck, it fits.

Same here. I like the drama as well, coincidentally I was also a fan of Greek mythology as well.

so where's azula

I didn't say that's what was necessarily happening, but not all love triangles have the girls have tension likes this is what I was getting at, it's not 100% necessary. I can handle drama but the same kind of drama gets tiring considering how often love triangles are used, there is a way they can be handled differently and still be dramatic.

I have never liked LT at all, it's one of the easiest ways to get me disinterested in a story because it usually becomes a dick measuring between two females because they both can't be good characters, one of them has to be the slut. I think shows that want put LT should take notes from Uncharted, they're the only ones who have done it right.

Just out of curiosity, how would you do a Love Triangle with two female character components that did not have tension but still had drama to it?

Have it be a friendly competition. They're still friends, but they both still want 'the prize' as it were.
Granted, that very easily falls into comedy, rather than drama, but it's doable.

Hmm, I could see it being doable if LoK's main plot was less serious and heavy but I am having a hard time envisioning a "friendly competition" Love Triangle working well with the show's current main plot level of seriousness.
