'Twas kinda what I was trying to express with the emoticon, but hey, let's go with clearly stating stuff. :awesome:

That's your story and you're sticking to it.

So, thoughts on The Rebel Flesh- A copy Doctor. A Doctor who is the Doctor but who is other than the Doctor.

A Doctor who might just be the one who bit it earlier.

Also, Rory's more proactive. Go Rory.

I'm really liking proactive Rory, and agreed with L that he's the perfect person to be defending them.

I'm hoping that we'll be getting more of bold/outgoing Amy, as she seems to have gone a bit 'damsel in distressy' over the last few episodes, and I rather miss the more 'taking command attitude' Amy.

The bathroom stall punch scene was probably one of the most 'oh shit, wasn't expecting that level of creepy' moments thus far in Season 6.

I'm gonna have to find this week's episode online, since BBC America thinks that it's a good idea to run a Doctor Who Marathon on Saturday for Memorial Day Weekend, but is delaying the new episode until next week. *facepalm* The other good news is that I've found a friend who's got all of the original Series of Doctor Who, so I'll finally be able to immerse myself into that, and max out my knowledge of the rest of Doctor Who.

Lastly, the message on the site this week is "Message Interrupted."

Only gripe I had with the episode was how quickly it went 180 on everyone.
They have all the humans and their counterparts in a room and an understanding between them is beginning and all it takes is one attack from the human commander (which the copy knew was coming) and they are at each others throats.

I agree with you. For clones they really are rather, "well fuck our duplicates" with very little provocation, but it may be thier incomplete development, but if so, I'd prefer if that was better explained. Especially since the one clone even states, "that's so me" you'd figure they'd be aware that their counterparts are a little unreasonable, and that should be worked with.

I'm reminded of the Silurians in "The Hungry Earth" & "Cold Blood" but that situation did the tension over death of one member a lot more believably.

This, and the way it kind of felt like it was emulating the 'mob mentality' feel of Midnight, but again, not as effectively. This episode feels like a spiritual sequel to it and The Hungry Earth. So far I reckon its not as good as the former, but much more engaging than the latter. The preview for next week leads me to believe the intensity will be stepping up a notch.

I'm assuming that this is the trailer that you meant.

In looking for it, I stumbled upon a minute long preview of the episode that gives a bit better motivation to our Gangers. Just unfortunate that this didn't happen before the cliff hanger.

On a related note, anyone listening to the 5th Doctor Big Finish radio dramas that are running on BBC Radio at the moment?
I just finished one that occurs right after Terminus, with Five, Tegan, and Turlough meeting a Nyssa who hasn't seen them in 50 years. Called Cobwebs. Starting Whispering forest, no clue who else is in it yet.

My big curiosity is whether Alter Doctor's apparent freak out in the trailer is such, and if it is, whether it's genuine, or staged.

Also, X, if you want to get the most out of the early years without having to slog through the worst of the missing episodes, I'll give you a list of good, bad, and meh first and second doctor stories.
Like you can avoid Galaxy 4 without any issue, but several other heavily missing episodes should be seen.

If it's staged, it's a pretty damn believable performance from the Doctor's Ganger, because he looks cracked out of his gourd.

I am.... Cybatman!

Also, Rory the Roman, looks like. Is this an Auton, or our fleshy version employing a clever ruse?

The spoiler pic brings up an interesting and important question, now that I think about it.
Much like Dave Davenport smoking, the Pandorica events were in universe retconned so they didn't happen. How do/did most people remember it, then? Bleed through?

Well, we do know that he had the Roman outfit for roleplaying fun on the Christmas cruise... :awesomonster:

What's interesting to note is that they don't look like the Pete's World Cybermen.

As far as I can tell, it's because everyone who seems to be affiliated with it so far are either Amy, or someone Amy brought back (The Doctor/Rory). River didn't know, because it hasn't happened for her yet, and I don't think we've seen any other remnants of what happened because of it. Because the crack(s) existed in all of Space & Time, and it only cracked that far when the TARDIS exploded, and was then restored by the Pandorica's restoration field, anything that came through it still would have happened.

I made some guesses about things on tumblr a couple weeks ago.

I noticed that as well, though I seem to have deleted where I mentioned I was glad they removed the big ole Honkin C off their chests. Proper Mondasians are here again!

Well, specifically, the other people who remember it are from the last season, but they're from a timeline in which the Pandorica event did not happen, and the universe in which the event did happen was self contained and contained only Earth after 1st century CE. Granted, they could have escaped through the cracks into the other timeline, similar to what Prisoner Zero did.
Kinda makes you wonder what happened at that point in the 'current' timeline.

Also,
Only Seasons 1-6 will be covered. Season 7 and on exist fully.

Trying to avoid major spoilers here.

Season 1
An Unearthly Child/10000 BC- Watch the first episode, definitely. The other three episodes are skippable, but they are extant.

The Daleks- If you skip this one, slap yourself stupid.

Edge of Destruction- Not much happens, but it's short, and introduces plot points important later on. Decent character development too.

Marco Polo- Completely Missing. Which is a damn shame, since it's one of the funnier Historicals. Plods in the middle, but I, at least, enjoyed it.

Keys of Marinus- Very odd serial, it's closer in format to the format of the revival series, of several episodic quests linking to a larger one. Can be skipped without affecting the understanding of the characters and plots, but it's fun.

The Aztecs- Utterly Boring. Not missing, but utterly boring, which is a shame, because it's largely Barbara centric. Has a Doctor romance subplot thing going. Don't think anything brought up in this series applies anywhere else.

The sensorites- Has the first clues that the Doctor and Susan are other than human. The first descriptions of what would later become Gallifrey. I will forever hate the Sensorites because I'm pretty sure they made the Ood (who make-a no damn sense and hail from the same system as said Sensorites) but other than that, not bad for 1st season.

The Reign of Terror- The Doctor and Co in Revolutionary France. Keep Susan's complaints about the textbook in the first episode in mind here.

Season 2
Planet of Giants- Tiny Tardis. Present Day Earth. Amusing for size shennanigans and parallel stories, but skippable.

The Dalek Invastion of Earth- Exactly what it says on the tin. Occurs in 2150. You will watch this. First cast departure.
Afterwards, you will watch the two Peter Cushing movies and laugh, because they are silly.

The Rescue- New Cast, Yay! Short, but enjoyable.

The Romans- A historical in which the Tardis gang decides to get some down time in 1st century Rome. They get into trouble as a result, of course. Deliberately farcical, in places, contrasting with some dark elements, in an odd effect.

The Web Planet- What is this I don't even. A six episode serial about a planet filled with sapient talking giant insects. The most honest thing I can say is it is weird. Does not affect the overall plot much at all. Entirely skippable.

The Crusade- Doctor Who meets Assassin's Creed. More seriously, it's the 3rd crusade. The gang has to deal with with King Richard and Saladin and their entourages.

Space Museum- Another somewhat silly romp episode, the Doctor and crew find themselves in a space museum, experiencing people who they can see but cannot see them, until they find themselves and the TADIS as exhibits in the museum.

The Chase- Involves Daleks. Is partly missing. You can skip the christmas episode. First appearance of a future companion... playing another part entirely. Also marks the departure of Ian and Barbara and the taking on of a new companion. Definitely catch.

The Time Meddler- The Doctor meets one of his own people who is toying with history in decidedly unsubtle ways in 1066. Do catch. I love the meddling Monk.

Season 3
Galaxy 4- Entirely missing. Entirely skippable.

Mission to the Unknown- A one off episode. Features NONE of the regular cast. Is still very important.

The MythMakers- Entirely missing. Despite that, I still encourage watching. Covers the end of the Trojan War. Companion Exit.

The Dalek's Master Plan- Hi, I'm a story with Dalek in the title! You're going to watch me anyways!

The Massacre of St. Bartholomew's eve- France 1572. The Protestant Purges. Contains an absurd mistaken identity subplot, with the actual doctor missing for most of the series. A new companion arrives at the end, which is worth watching. The rest is Meh.

The Ark- Mankind is now travelling from earth to new worlds around new stars for mass colonization due to their expanding sun (This is probably them just being wrong, since both regular physics and the rest of the series contradicts this with an alternate reason for migrations out at this time). But trouble is afoot in the form of his companion's cold virus. and the doctor has to stop it... then they come back 700 years later and deal with new trouble.

The Celestial Toymaker- Weird weird weird as hell and loving it. Largely missing the Doctor except in voice (And his hand, played by someone else), an evil megapotent jackass wants to kill the doctor and companions through a series of rigged games. Almost entirely missing. The final episode exists.

The Gunfighters- Doctor Who in the old west. The Earps, Doc Holliday, etc. Not bad, but nothing special.

The Savages- It's the future, and a tech centric society and wild society are at each other's throats. Pretty missable. Exit of a companion, in case you skip.

The War Machines- Watch this one. Remember it. Be amused much later on. Introduces two new companions. Doctor's other old companion exits. Thinking computer gets an ego, wants to take over the world. Doctor says no.

Season 4
The Smugglers- Entirely Missing. Fairly Missable. Establishes new companions Ben and Polly a bit, but nothing vital.

The Tenth Planet- WATCH THIS. Cyberman appear here first, and the first regeneration occurs at the end of this series. Last episode is missing apart from the regeneration.

The power of the Daleks- Why, It's a new doctor and an old foe. Watch it. It's missing in its entirety. Watch it.

The Highlanders- Meet Jamie. The Second Doctor's companion. The last pure historical in the series until the 5th doctor's 2 part murder mystery. It's fragmented, but it introduces the Jamie, who, as I mentioned, IS the 2nd Doctor's definitive companion.

The Underwater Menace- Atlantis is rising! Only ep 3 is intact. Fairly weak, all told. Sad that of the 2nd doctor, thus far, the one to skip is the one that's most intact.

The Moonbase- A-ha! A partly extant 2nd Doctor Story! And one I reccomend. Remember those ugly as Cybermen from the 10th planet? They're back and a bit better blinged out with a plan to conquer the moon.

The Macra Terror- Remember the giant enemy crabs from Gridlock? This is their only other appearance. Mostly incomplete. Moving on.

The faceless ones- An identity theft plot involving Aliens at a London airport. Missing 3 episodes. Worth watching, however. Ben and Polly depart.

Evil of the Daleks- Daleks! Comedy! New companion Victoria! Only one episode remains! Despite that, quite watchable.

Season 5
Tomb of the Cybermen- Yay, more shiny tin men! This all exists. This also introduced Cybercontrollers and Cybermats, ganking folks and shinying them up. Also, the first explicit mention to the doctor's age- "about 450." IIRC, the 4th doctor claims to be younger than this before being called on it.

The Abominable Snowmen- A fun romp. All but ep 2 is lost. Introduces the Yeti, a recurring (though not often recurring) enemy that is important later.

The Ice Warriors- Introduces the ice warriors of mars. Is actually pretty dull in the middle, so episodes 2 and 3, which are missing, can be glossed over.

The Enemy of the World- The 2nd Doctor must play James bond against a man who looks exactly like himself, named Salamander. No. Really. 5 episodes missing. Onto the next serial, unless you really want to watch this one.

The Web of Fear- Why HALO THAR Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart. Now that's a young military man GOING places! Watch this one. It's pretty good, despite missing 5 of 6 episodes.

The Fury From the Deep- Why HALO THAR rather unimpressive Sonic Screwdriver actually used to unscrew a screw. Victoria Exits. Watch the beginning and the end if you want to skip this.

The Wheel in Space- New companion, Zoe. Cybermen! Space Station! Mostly Missing, like almost all of Troughton's era! Still worth watching a well reconstructed version.

Season 6
The Dominators- The Doctor and company come to the planet Dulkis for a holiday when they are interrupted by the murderous forces of the Dominators and their murderbots the Quarks, who want to conquer Dulcis. A complete standalone in terms of continuity, nevertheless, it's a good set of five completely extant episodes. The 'mental images' quip at the beginning is an in universe explanation for a repeat of 'The evil of the daleks' having been shown after Wheel in Space and before this serial.

The Mind Robber- This serial is a head trip. After the previous serial, a mechanical fault leads the Doctor to Land the Tardis outside of reality for safety. Things get weird from here as they land in the land of fiction. Includes several episodes of Jamie played by a different actor (with an in universe explanation for such) while he had CHicken Pox. The Villian is called The Master. Is not the The Master. I like this one. It's crazy. It's also fully intact.

The Invasion- WATCH THIS SERIES. 2 episodes are missing, the 1st and 4th. If you can get the animated versions of these eps, so much the better. First appearance of UNIT.

The Krotons- It exists in its entirety. Features machine overlords forcing a planets best and brightest into their servitude.

The Seeds of Death- More Ice Warriors! Much better than their previous appearance. Exists in its entirety.

The space Pirates- All but one episode missing. I wouldn't bother.

The War Games- Last 2nd Doctor Serial. Bother. Bother A LOT. Plus, it all exists! In short, the doctor plops down in what is apparently WWI, except it's very obviously the wrong time and planet for WWI to be happening. We see a little bit of Gallifrey at the end, though it's not called that yet.

A little warning for everyone:

Avoid the official Doctor Who website until after "The Almost People" airs wherever you live, just in case you don't want to have a clue as to where things are going. (For the BBC America folk, that means until next week).

For those who don't mind the spoilers.

The Official Site's main banner is pretty blatant that shit's gonna get nuts again.

There's Sontaran, Cyberman & Silurians in Episode 7, which sounds like The Alliance from Eleventh Hour might still exist in some capacity, or perhaps The Silence are still pulling some strings.

Combine that with what appears to be Roman Rory, and the fact that River Song is in the episode, and I'm pretty certain that I'll be both grinning at my tv, and cursing at Steven Moffat at the same time when it ends.

I think that the only thing tiding me over until September will be the fact that I've now gotten about 8 more people I know to start watching Doctor Who, so I won't have to suffer alone.

Also- There's going to be an episode 7 prequel just after The Almost People.

Absolutely makes up for the slightly rough part 1. I didn't see it coming either.

I have to wonder if, since we know that the Sontarins are in part 7, if they're responsible for the Flesh Amy, since they made one of Rose in the Sontarin Stratagem.

Also, about 3 mins in the Doctor says, "Cybermats, created by the Cybermen, they kill by feeding off brain waves." Anyone have any ideas why he says that?

Also - Amy told him he's gonna die. :O

After you've seen that, The Episode 7 prequel will give you chills.

I didn't even think of that. But now that you mention it, it was pretty much exactly the same thing wasn't it? Right down to the fact that Martha had to be kept in stasis in order for the ganger to be operational. I'll be damned if that wasn't intentional.

Also - Amy told him he's gonna die.
I'm pretty glad they didn't elaborate more on that, though it is clear that the Doctor has it on his mind.

Thanks for the correction. I'd meant Martha. ;)

I'm also glad they dropped that hint, but didn't dwell on it, because it leaves doors open for him to orchestrate plans on his own.

And holy shit, yes he has. I'm hoping we get to see that he's got some badass life experience from his 2000 years as a Roman.

So, 11 was VERY 7 this episode. Esp the bit about switching with himself. It was actually rather obvious. Likewise the 'No, I'm the real one' the crazed ganger girl pulled.
Also, I LOVE that shit is coming to a head halfway through the season. It means the last half can be put over to fixing some of it.

Someone hates me because I figured this all out and explained it after we saw the episode. I didn't mention that it meant the doctor now knows about his upcoming death. I might have been attacked.

My worries- The Good Man isn't the Doctor. It's Rory. He goes to war, and he is the good man killed.

Wow. Mind blown. I'm not going to deal with most of the post-ep spoilers in this thread, as they refer to a video, which I can't view until Saturday. Insert recurring gag about my net access here.

While I agree with Ryu's theory that the Doctor we see die at the beginning of the season could be Flesh - yes, Flesh!Doctor bought it at the end of the episode this Saturday, but another one could be made - I hope this isn't the case. It would feel too lazy.

I loved how Flesh!Doctor had difficulty coping with the memories of the past regenerations at first - especially all the callbacks, including the Third Doctor's unofficial catchphrase (i.e., we think he said it a lot more often than he did) "I'll just reverse the polarity of the neutron flow", although "reverse the jelly baby of the neutron flow" DOES have a nice ring to it.

And X, the Doctor asked his Flesh counterpart about Cybermats to check on how much of his memories the Ganger had. Why Cybermats specifically, I don't know. Although, I'm sure the Centurian Rory with Cybermen pic comes from the next ep, so the Doctor may know something he isn't yet letting on.

And I'm sure you all know this anyway, but the Cyberman with the black bits on his helmet is a Cyberleader. I think they appeared in The Next Doctor, too - I know there were plans to include them in Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, but they ran out of time/money.

Talking about Gangers, was it just me, or did Cleaves' Ganger seem more compassionate than her, until about halfway through this episode.

And the OH MY GIDDY AUNT moment - Amy's a Ganger. And has been for a while. My first thought was that she was replaced when the Silence captured her. But but BUT! ...she saw slidey panel eyepatch lady before then. Hm...

She first saw Slideypatch lady in the Orphanage. The orphanage the Silence control. It'd probably just occurred at the point with the later events acting as a smokescreen.

Oh, and Cybatman did appear in the Next Doctor, yes.

Also, I'm not sure that the doctor is a Ganger doctor, but given his pulling a 7 this episode, more than ever, I'm convinced his 'really dead' is some sort of ruse.
