Ok now that was a great episode.
I'm going to assume that the reason that the TARDIS is able to be on Galiffrey is because it's the Doctor's personal lifestream.
Funnily enough I have that fear of someone grabbing my leg when I turn off the lights and go to my bed. I'm sleeping with my light on tonight. :shifty:

There was a mention earlier in the episode that the TARDIS safeguards had been turned off. I think that explains how it could get onto Gallifrey.

Anyway, spirited arguments could be made about where in the canon of all-time great Doctor Who episodes this belongs but I think a strong case could be made that this is the single best episode of Moffat's tenure as showrunner. This is a really good review.

I think it's way too soon to be ranking this episode as an all-time great or the best of Moffat as a showrunner.

I'll have to watch it again to make sure but I'm pretty sure this is one of the strongest episodes in years.

I like that we get the sense from this episode that another reason that the Doctor travels with companions is that he's a bit afraid of being alone for the same reason everyone is. Also, seeing him as a young child, the War Doctor, and as Twelve who openly mentions his "dad skills" in a way more directly than I'd been expecting tied everything together amazingly well. Also, the use of his psychic interfacing more regularly this season has been pretty damn awesome. All in all, I think that this worked the best because it juxtaposed how human he is at the same time that it showed how alien he is, and played through the scenario without giving a real answer about whether or not there was anything there. Good fear and good storytelling all around.

So, good episode, but it felt slight compared to last week's. I guess that was to be expected though. I didn't see the end coming.

So, I rewatched Series 7. We really need a new showrunner. Some episodes don't even make any fucking sense. "The Power of Three" is a mess from start to finish of unexplained plot threads and dangling loose ends. Likewise with "The Angels Take Manhattan."

And what's with this random town called "Christmas" on a random planet in "The Time of The Doctor"? It bothered me before, but especially after watching all of this back to back.

It's almost like for this season they came up with plot points and set pieces they wanted, then gave absolutely no thought to how any of it would fit together or make sense in a context outside the happenings of the moment. I swear it almost feels at times like the plot is unfolding in a vacuum.

Dammit I am so behind. I've watched the season premier and the one inside the Dalek and that's it.

And like the last fifteen minutes of the bank robbery one.

Ugh.

That was by far, my personal favourite of the season to date. What an extremely well written episode! We finally got some incredible character driven drama, all encompassed within an interchangeable state as the direction of the episode itself flicked from drama, to tension, to awkward moments, to comedy - all in the blink of an eye. I really can't praise this episode enough.

The new character dynamics of the Doc, Clara and Danny was incredible to watch (they shouldn't have waited so long to do this - and my God, THAT is how you do bickering, please take note Robots of Sherwood) the Doctor was simply brilliant in the episode from start to finish doing his own thing and pulling Clara along (rather than Clara leading the charge) and speaking of Clara she's finally coming into her own! I now actually like her.

And that's forgetting all the references.

More of this please. This season has been up and down, but if we get more of this, I'll be extremely happy.

Yeah, wow, really good episode. This has to be Moffat's strongest season as showrunner so far. I hope they invite Peter Harness back to write more episodes.

So, do you agree with The Doctor's decision to leave it to the humans and not intervene?

If he was able to strap another moon to the TARDIS and drag to the solar system and solve the problem that way then no but it doesn't seem like it's that kind of season.
