Speaking of which, why the hell did Missy / Master say that the Doc was her boyfriend earlier????

For the lols. :P
I dunno it seems like something the master would do.

Missy and the Cybermen seem interesting but I'm tired of Mr Pink/Clara.
As Eccleston would have said: leave the domestics out.

I'd disagree with you Donna, in that I thought the first few minutes was the only really enjoyable part for me. I loved
Clara doing an ultimatum to the Doctor to save Danny or else

To me that's not
who Clara is. I can totally see someone like Amy, Rose or River doing something like that with their "It's all bout me" tendencies but not Clara.

The Master has always been obsessed with the Doctor and loves to troll him.

Claymore

3x3 Eyes
But that's why I loved it even more -
she was determined not to grieve over the loss of him because of everything that she has been through. Not only does she love him, but she has seen a future with him, (and his past) and their offspring. The sudden loss of all of that is a heck of a lot to take, which is why I loved Clara standing up to the Doctor and demanding help that she thought wasn't going to come.
*Shrugs* I thought that was really in character for everything that she has experienced with Danny.

I can't help but think that there's a subtle, intentional difference in "white noise" and "pink noise" when it comes to
the communication of the recently deceased
(it's a really bad science joke).

This is one of those things where I wish the preview hadn't showed the Cybermen, 'cause I figured out that side of things really quickly because I knew they were coming.

I think that they did a good bit of teasing with the whole, "stored consciousness, timelord left behind" speech trolling towards suspicions about River. Also, ever since the floating cube message, I was suspecting timelord-related shenanigans. Also, what the hell were the 3W's that the name stood for?

It wasn't the best start to a finale episode, but it was pretty strong, & I'm looking forward to part 2 to see how things all play out.

"Don't cremate me".

Anyway I mostly enjoyed this episode. Don't honestly get a lot of the complaints.

It was obviously the master. As I said a few weeks back here, the scene at the end of Flatline is a direct remake of one of the Antony Ainley performances. There is also the psychosexual romance between the two that increases with each appearance in NewWho.
About the episode, I thought it pretty effective in its job. No big surprises, except the do not cremate part which is pretty chilling. I love the exploration of the extra perception of consciousness, which has been the main theme of the season. Like in Listen. We know death is not an instant process but a state of decay, so its interesting to explore in fiction how much longer the deprived brain actually lives on.
I don't think I've seen much sci-fi that is better than Series 8 to be honest.

I called
Missy being the Master
from the first appearance of the character. There was something about her performance.

Charles Dance was in promotional images as a Time Lord, we all guessed he was gonna be The Master.
So you have someone walking around called Missy, calling The Doctor her boyfriend. It's rather easy to figure out who she really is.

Where are the promotional images of Charles Dance?
Actually, I did guess it in the first episode but there were still chances of it being Clara meaning Miss C or an amalgamation of the Doctor. Flatline confirmed it with the laugh clip. The story was fairly obvious, heaven being a stand in for the Cybermen. The most interesting part was the consciousness twist.

Weird, a bunch of sites had been posting it as if it were official. It would be lovely to see Charles Dance in the series but I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he appears.

Yeah I have no idea what is going on, Clara just seems flat rn, the acting in general seems kind of flat though I am enjoying Missy
that Doctor/Master kiss lololol aww yis, I thought you said no hanky panky Peter eh eheheh :monster: Danny's death/the reaction just seemed kind of flat, probably didn't help I wasn't really paying attention to the first few minutes of the episode though since I was chatting to someone so not quite sure what actually happened)
Like last week's there were elements of the episode I liked but again something just seems off with Clara, at first with last week I was thinking maybe they were pulling a bait and switch again with not really Clara but :monster:

Clara's grandmother is definitely awesome though yis :headbang:

Peter Capaldi recorded this for a 9 year old austic kid whose nanny died, to help him cope with the loss. 100% pure class and excellence.

I can't even properly describe my frustration with "Death In Heaven". It was a better episode than "Dark Water" but considering how much I hated that one that ain't a compliment.

I was frustrated too but I still enjoyed it :monster: I was frustrated in a wait what how does that make sense, explain this to me now, I don't want to wait for more to see what happens way :faint: Also in a no I can't believe this is happening there must be something else, they can't leave it at that way :monster:

Maybe I'm just in denial over
Danny :(

I just feel like pointing out that Dark Water has a 9.1 on imdb.com (making it tied for the highest rating of the season with Listen) and Death in Heaven has an 8.7. Methinks y'all are just picky.

I haven't seen the new one yet, though.

Nah, Death in Heaven is definitely better than the last one :monster:

Edit - Although the Doctor
/Master kiss might rate higher on kissagram scale in the first one :monster: The Master had clearly been saving that one all up and had to let it all out :pinkmonster:

It feels like half a story, so the neversphere/matrix, Master's tardis likely with real Gallifreyean coordinates, Orson Pink the world's first time traveler. All magically gone?
It's not a good ending, but as part of a longer arc it's an okay ending to the Cybermen part of it. Although if the first one (neversphere/matrix) is still sitting around in St Paul's and isn't brought up again then it's pretty poor plotting.

On a separate note, the promises vs biological emotions aspect of it makes sense, as that's the way the Doctor rediscovered who he was last year in Day of the Doctor with the "never cowardly or cruel, never give up never give in" part.

So...

Doesn't BBC America usually show last week's episode at 7pm followed by the new episode at 8pm? Why are they showing Sherlock instead???

I haven't seen last week's episode yet. :sadpanda:

Aaron really? The Moffat era has always been divisive among fans. I've never made any secret that I'm not a fan of Moffat but I really was enjoying the direction he was going with this season. It had a stretch from Listen to Flatline were the episodes were really good or great. But the last 3 episodes of the season have been one disappointment after the other. Now "Death in Heaven" was a decent finale that could've been so much better if it weren't for certain poor choices made.

And I'm glad you did but those of us who didn't like "Dark Water" gave some legitimate reasons for it and you don't even know what we didn't like about "Death in Heaven".
