I can't wait to see this season all in one go. I find that Carlie and I usually agree when it comes to "Doctor Who," so I'm not expecting to love it, but I do hope that I will.

Apparently there was a hint in the latest episode that the Doctor graduated from my University. I don't watch the show so I can't confirm this. Something Clara said but I don't know who that is.

Kind of :monster:

There's been a fair amount of Glasgow, and Scotland references in general this series :monster: Not always complimentary from where I'm standing, so it'll be interesting what you think if you ever get to watch :monster:

I'm kinda pissed they
recycled the Master yet again in a female form, why not just use the fucking Rani? Master/Mistress appears to be akin to Rani in these past two episodes

I'm indifferent to the idea. No reason not to from where I sit, but it's not especially interesting on its own either.

Well, two of the four actors to have played The Doctor since the show's revival have been Scottish, right? Peter Capaldi and David Tennant, I think?

I just got round to the episode and enjoyed it.

Danny's really dead, isn't he? Poor Clara. :(

I've liked the Doctor and Clara's whole relationship this series. It's so much different to her and 11, yet still so good.

WHY THE FUCK HAVE THEY CALLED FATHER CHRISTMAS AS SANTA CLAUS? THIS IS A BRITISH SHOW. Apart from that, I totally giggled when Nick Frost appeared!

Just watched the Finale.

Wish it were John Simm, but this Gomez person's pretty good! Also, what the hell? I thought Charles Dance was supposed to be the new Master. Wasn't there that teaser pic from months ago?

Danny looks horrible as a Cyberman. Like seriously. I hated looking at his face. I know he's dead and all but maybe make him less dead, and more... lively?

Question...
So why did Missy bring The Doctor and Clara together? They kinda skirted that and didn't really go into details IIRC.

ZOMG NICK FROST!!! :excited: Now all we need is for Edgar Wright to write and direct an episode.

Plot-wise though, it feels rushed and not quite as epic as most, if not all of the finales we've seen since the reboot.

I'm glad to see that Clara is still there! ^_^

But I suppose this guarantees nothing. This could very well be her final episode. :sadpanda:

Or maybe not?

That was rather good! I was initially a little iffy on the whole Santa Claus thing when the episode synopsis first came around, but this was really well done. I mean, yeah, the episode is just your basic
Inception nonsense, but the monsters were creepy, the storyline had a good pace, and the characters were interesting.

However, he just can't help but ruin things as usual. We had, yet again, another perfect ending for Clara. I mean, how much more perfect can you get with the whole 'last christmas' sentiments being thrown around the entire episode, and seeing her old self? But no ... everything is basically reset and Clara and the Doc are once more running around space and time, as if their lies and everything that has happened to them individually doesn't matter.

Sorry, but that final 'fake out' and bringing Clara back just ruined a heck of a lot for me. It was way past time for Clara to go, she has had several brilliant exits, and now they are all ruined.

I think Radio Times confirmed that she is now on full for season 9. I'm wondering if this was a last minute decision because that ending felt really tacked on.

If we have to keep her around, can we at least introduce Ashley into things? I liked her.

Clara's storyline can't end until Orson Pink is explained.

It's not a priority apparently. In a radio times interview Moff stated that it could be 'easily explained away' as Orson being an offshoot of the family and not having anything to do with Clara at all.

Yeah ... I know. -_-

Tv trope:

  • Lying Creator: Rule Zero: Moffat Lies (after the well-known "Rule One: The Doctor lies"). Self-admitted; in an interview on about the fiftieth anniversary special, he said, "Normally I am responsible for the disinformation and the rubbish rumors - I usually put them out myself, but I haven't needed to for this one." (And he was lying about this too; he was personally responsible for some of the misinformation about the fiftieth).
Truthfully this sort of thing should annoy me because I enjoy reading interviews, but his are pretty much entirely trolling.

He said that the Doctor is asexual recently, thus ignoring the sexual relationship he wrote with Eleven and River Song.

Incidentally, Jenna Coleman has confirmed she'll be staying on for series 9.

I haven't seen the episode yet so I'll comment when I have.

So I liked the episode, even if it was dark for a Christmas episode. Detailed comments later.

I will say though that people are assuming Danny Pink's story is concluded when we already know from experience that Moffat loves to run arcs over three seasons or more, so I wouldn't assume that we've heard the last from him yet. And we should all know by now not to believe anything Moffat says in interviews.

I really hope that they don't keep dragging Danny Pink back. This is one thing I absolutely hate about this show - the inability to let characters go when the time is right. It pretty much ruined Rose, people got sick and tired of Amy and Rory, and the sentiments against Clara is definitely growing. Seriously, Danny had a good story, he had an even greater sacrifice, and
the touching moment in the xmas special was fun and emotional - really epitomizing his character.
There comes a point when you just begin to ruin everything a character has done, or been built up to, when they are dragged back into yet another story.

River is the only one I personally feel that they have gotten right in this regard. Every time she was brought back it held a great significance. Since they are dragging Clara back for another full season, so be it (I'll just have to live with it) but please, let's leave Danny out of it.

His final words says it all.

Amen to the whole Danny thing.

with the whole dream sequences. I didn't think having "old Clara" wouldn't have done her character justice and would've been a cop out imho. I'm glad she's back and even Jenna said herself that there's still so much to explore, that the Doctor and Clara are on the same page now.

I agree with some of the comments in that article (that, and Digital Spy has LOADS of vocal Doctor Who fans) in which they filmed two endings and mashed them together to not piss off the fandom. I like that she's back, but I honestly can't see her staying beyond series 9.

I'd take this episode any day over than some of the past Christmas ones.

Also, please bring Ashley back.

I would agree but they kind of hinted at
Doctor x Clara/ship tease at the end I think, and I'm just like nooooo :rage: You don't get rid of Danny for that! :faint:

Yeah, that
hint kind of creeped me out. But then I tried my best to see it as friendly. 11/Clara may have worked, but then there's River. But 12/Clara, I see them as really best friends tbh. If Moffat screws up that dynamic, I'm sure there'll be a lot of riots in the fandom.

Moffat's just an annoying fuck in general.

Have you watched Series 8 yet?
Do you agree that the story about Orson isn't just going to vanish without even a line referring to why. Moffat even concuded what was behind the door in The God Complex in Time of the Doctor. The woman in the shop was also explained. As was the tardis explosion (eventually)
(unsure what is still counted as spoilers)

"It's wonderful," she said. "I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and I couldn't walk away with the story being unresolved."

Finally saw the Christmas episode and I enjoyed it. A little dark and they did a good job of referencing Alien within the episode. I was really happy to see the old Clara sequence bookend the relationship that she had with 11 completely, but still get to have her around as 12's best friend now that they're both a little rougher around the edges, I hope that they can enjoy each other and just forge and especially strong friendship that lasts.
