She would be amazing as a companion, but I question whether she would have time to do both Game of Thrones and Doctor Who. Then again, neither of them have particularly long seasons, so there's that, and Game of Thrones is planned to end after seven or eight seasons, so there's that as well. Maybe they can make it work. If Clara is going to leave after series 9 (as is currently expected) it might be difficult to work out the logistics of it, but maybe she could be the companion after next.

It takes 9 months to film one season of Doctor Who though, right? She probably couldn't do it until after she's done on Game of Thrones.

Yeah, depending on how long it takes to film each show (I think Game of Thrones takes a long time to film as well) she probably won't have time until after Game of Thrones finishes. Unless her character gets killed off, which doesn't seem likely, but, well, it is Game of Thrones.

Nothing like adding Maisie Williams to get me interested again in something. Tbh after my disappointment with the last few episodes of series 8, I haven't even been motivated enough in watching the Christmas special. I know I'll get to it eventually but the interest is not there.

Guys as much as I would love it to happen, Maisie Williams is gonna be very busy for the foreseeable future to be a companion on "Doctor Who". Not just with "Game of Thrones", she'll most likely end up playing Ellie in the movie adaptation of "The Last of Us". It'll be a travesty if she doesn't, the girl is perfect for the role.

Not with the girl's preference these days. However, that gives us the advantage. :awesome:

Eccleston has elaborated some more on why he left the show. Apparently some of it has to do with snobbery about his accent.

As someone who's geographically close to that accent where he grew up, that sounds like a piss poor excuse. At least he's open and honest about it. Although I loved Tennant afterwards, it's a shame as I did like Eccleston's Doctor by the time the first series was coming to an end.
