The ch17 VR thing is not available until you finished the game :monster: I think?

Anyway, that Shinra VR presentation with the Midgar timelapse? I just remembered that it shows Midgar being built in the middle of the desert.

Shinra: "This wasteland was already like that when we got here!"

Where do I get Aerith's L2 skill book (I don't have her back yet, just made it to Shinra building entrance)? I have her L3 but not the L2 ?
Do you mean the SP Manucscripts? Because each character only has two limit breaks not three in the Remake.
Anyways this here lists all the Manuscript locations and how to get them https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/963...ks-and-manuscript-volumes-for-weapon-upgrades

Anyways I just grinded Cloud, Tifa, and Barret to level 50 today and beat Bahamut (on Normal, though the grinding was on Easy). Now onward to the Shinra Meeting! Curious to see how OP or not the characters will be.

That video of Sephiroth destroying the world and with Barret and Tifa's lifeless bodies on the ground was terrifying. Hearing the full blown version of Those Chosen by the Planet and seeing that was a real eye opener. This incredible game that basically tells the story of a city is just a prologue to something much, much greater. The threat of Sephiroth makes Shinra look like nothing. I think they did an amazing job of conveying that idea in a very clever and brief way. Just seeing the Shinra tower collapse into rubble within seconds while you have just spent 40 fucking hours in a losing effort against them... man. That's the power of Sephiroth.

Thank you Theozilla. Yeah! I meant for the weapons. I don't know how I'm supposed to fight the Shinra Thugs with Aerith at Corneo's though since I'm past the point of no return and that fight wasn't unlocked yet when I was there with Aerith and Cloud ?

Also after being able to play this Chapter on my own and not watching on a small screen, Aerith’s “mind meld” with Red XIII definitely clarified/convinced me that the weird moment Aerith had with Marlene in Chapter 12 was basically supposed to be a more mild version of her empath calming powers that she did with Red.

Story: I watched Lex play this chapter so no surprises for me here. My boyfriend hadn't seen it yet tho. He laughed at the stairs scene (of course I had to pick that one :P) Was great watchign that large cinematic cutscene again, it's really pretty - also well "shot"; I like all the angles and "camera work" between CTB and the things going on in the background.

I didn't like the climbing in the ceiling- stuff the first time I did it; it's too much lagging left stick work for me :P But I like how it was Tifa who did it. They got her animations for it right. (Women move differently doing that as their center of gravity are lower.)

In the OG, my favourite place in the entire game is the Shinra building. Did it live up to my expectations? Yes and no. I pointed this out when watching Lex, he said it might be due to the streaming, but I still find the locations way too dark. The exceptions are the large areas with the cafeterias etc, they have that sense of "glaring light" I always liked about the inside of the building. But overall the inside of it kinda looks... too cozy? White can be such a cold colour, I would have loved to see more of it. Also even for being large areas with a lot of stairs and rooms, the building seems smaller than it did in the OG somehow. tl;dr I'm not super dissapointed but IMO it could have been better. Edit: The tour was great though. It could have been longer!

Edit: Oh and Red XIII is introduced in this chapter, I remembered it as 17. Then I guess I can say that I think they got him just right. His English VA is perfect too. Good job. I also love how he just hangs out in the background while you fight that boss fight + before and after  His tail <3 What I found awkward though is that they're like "OMG IT TALKS" then two scenes later they talk about all kinds of other stuff while he's just lying there. The interest wore off quickly :P (Though I guess him refusing to tell them his real name was an indicator he wouldn't be sharing anything else at this point.

Gameplay: I wasn't up for doing All The Colosseum stuff at the point I reached it, so I asked here if I could go back; I was misled  But I don't really mind, I haven't had any game overs since then and I'm a bit into chapter 17 atm, so. I'm smelling some kind of Premium Adventure feature so if I want to fight Leviathan I'm sure I can later at some point if I can be arsed.

I equipped Cloud with that new sword that is magic based, and he seems to get interrupted a lot easier now. Not sure what blocks interruptions (Vitality?) Switching to a different character or having him cast when having another as a Leader doesn't seem to help much. Anyway Cloud works really well as a mage. I like having a balanced lead. It's also a neat feature in this game that you can "go back" and change your mind by resetting the weapons with Chadley. In that sense, it's yet another thing that reminds me of (original) XII: Your characters do have base stats, but in theory you can make the attacker a mage, the mage an attacker etc. Plus usually there's an not so obvious payoff by doing so. In XIII, people rarely used Snow as a mage, but it turns out he's actually the fastest magic caster. Etc.

How were you able to see Tifa’s animation while climbing in the ceiling chutes? She’s behind Cloud the entire time and I don’t believe the camera allow you to turn around that far during the chute crawling?

Yeah, it was very dark for me as well, especially the boss fight. I still haven't seen the top floors yet (stopped as soon as Chapter 17 started last night), but the building definitely feels more restrictive this time around. It was similar to Chapter 12 for me, it was great, but the nitpicker in me wanted more.

It was cool to see Kunsel mentioned, though I wasn't expecting it to be pronounced the way it was. I've always thought it was "kuhn-suhl" instead of "koon-suhl". I still like my way better. :mon:

Hi folks! I finally managed to finish the game last night. Before I delve into the daunting Chapter 18 thread and its 80+ page count (at the time of writing), I would like to share my impressions on this one.

In my view, this chapter was awesome, probably my favorite chapter with chapter 9. I think this echoes the general sentiment around this thread. In more specific points:

- On the one hand I'd have like the infiltration into the Shinra building playing out more like a decent infiltration job, instead of messing up halfway through and clumsily making it to the main hall. On the other hand, Domino being behind the scenes to cover their tracks not only did a very good job in game but also from a narrative standpoint. So, I'm cool with that.
- I'm sure Tifa was glad for all the pull-ups training in Chapter 14, that sure came in handy.
- I screwed around in the main lobby for ages, gawking at all the vehicle models and whatnots. Good stuff.
- I really liked the early clues that a man inside Shinra was helping the progress of the party (who turned out to be Domino). First when Barret compliments Tifa for disabling the security features and her replying 'I didn't do anything...' and when you see the video surveillance footage being tampered during that cutscene with Scarlet.
- I absolutely loved the Shinra museum to bits. Probably one of my favorite moments in the game, actually (even though, from a gameplay perspective, you just walk around and look at stuff!). The long 'immersive video experience' describing the history of the Planet was amazing. Also, it was a very good way to present the Shinra executive board to newcomers (I was sharing my playthrough with a friend who was new to FF7).
- One thing about the museum though: seriously, these were the best audio recordings they were able to get from Hojo and Palmer? Palmer could have done a few more takes. As for Hojo, well, I'd understand that the guy who'd insist for more takes could have ended up in Hojo's next experimental pod, and was probably wiser not to ask for more.
- I'm so happy they kept Hart and Domino in the remake. Domino's change to being a member of Avalanche is not a big stretch from his portrayal in the OG, and I found it fitted the narrative pretty well.
- I'm surprised they did manage to make Hojo even creepier than he already was. Those facial expressions, especially the movement from his lips and his tongue, were nightmare fuel. The cutscene with Aerith was brilliantly executed, especially the fact that Aerith was steeling herself during the confrontation and only allowed herself to express fear only once Hojo had left the room.
- That cafeteria floor was beautifully recreated. I liked hanging around there, although personally I didn't like that Tifa was literally knocking every chair in her path like a cat swatting items from a shelf. IMO they should have anchored those chairs, it was not a welcome distraction. I actually had the same issue once in chapter 9 in the dressing room of the arena - when Madam M came to visit for the cutscene, her whole speech was interrupted by a clanking folding chair that was under a spell of Bethesda physics.
- I really liked the quick interaction with the Shinra MPs who recognize Cloud 'hey dude, we have to tell Kunsel!' That was great. And it didn't spoil things for newcomers either - you could easily interpret that they had 'graduated' from the military academy together and then went on separate paths.
- I think I'd have preferred if the idea of sneaking into the bathroom ducts had not been "instructed", but more for the player to figure out like in the OG. Oh well. I personally liked that they did make Tifa feel uncomfortable with lingering in a men's bathroom.
- The board executive meeting itself was alright, I wouldn't have minded if it had lasted a bit longer, with more details. The Reeve / President Shinra interaction could have been expended a bit more IMO. Also, I think I was somewhat relieved that they removed the idea of having Aerith mate with Red XIII.
- Great appearance from Red XIII. I really liked how he was introduced in the game, which was quite faithful to the OG. He won the hearts of the audience instantly!
- I didn't mind the last 'mind-glitch' of Cloud, leading him to collapsing. What bothered me a little was the fact that he stumbled about for a good 20 metres before the rest of the party decided to catch up to him. Oh well.

Once again, overall I was very happy with this chapter, it was fulfilling many wishes that I had about the remake, and even went beyond that.
