Unfortunately fucking Twitch didn't save the stream so TLS's squeals (and there were actual squeals as viewers like Joe can attest) are lost to time. :(

Got work in an hour's time. Totally knackered.

But totally worth it.

For what it's worth, I kinda agree with Liccy that if folks approach this remake hoping for the same thing they got out of the original game, they'll probably be extremely disappointed. The original game, its emotions and its spirit will never really be recreated. But I reckon if one approaches this with an open mind and doesn't endlessly compare it to the original, there's a good chance it'll exceed expectations :monster:

I love this so much, please don't screw this up. Square's conference starts in 12 hours, we should get more then.

However I will never leave the original. I just can't do that....

Having only watched Let's Plays/cinematic "movie" edits of the game before I am really excited about this (though hopefully I can save up for a PS4 eventually play the original through the online shop before the remake comes out).
I am mostly just curious about about how certain mechanics/elements will likely be tweaked: Like will the combat still be turn-based? Will there still be an overworld map (and will it still be not-to-scale, as I can't imagine be able to do a to-scale overworld of an entire planet)? How will random encounters work (if they are included in any recognizable way)? What retcons from the compilation will be incorporated into the game and how? How will some of the sillier elements be depicted e.g. the Wall Market section of the game, etc.

I see this has already reached forum-breaking levels, and in fact it's no surprise that this thread will be the single most important thread in this forums history.

I can't be the only one who doesn't want this remake. It's going to be a disappointment, no matter how good it is, because even with the best graphics in the world they cannot recreate the thrill of playing this game for the first time. People who think they will feel again what they felt before are in for a big let down.

... that's exactly the point of a remake. replaying the game on a port isn't going to recreate your wonder at playing the game for the first time. experiencing the game in an entirely new way absolutely will
