....But since when has Reno looked like an old man? OG? Since Advent Children, he's been portrayed as a young man. Like, the only way Reno's gonna suddenly look like an old man is if SE decided to do it Kingsglaive style, and personally, I didn't like the style of Kingsglaive all that much. I prefer the sleek animeish style, thank you muchly. Less Uncanny Valley in my opinion.
Well, the designs from the Compilation has always been what I pictured FFVII would look like and I really love them.
Well I mean, that doesn't make sense. AC and DC aren't FFVII
They take place after FFVII and reflect the characters after their respective character growth and adventure.
I'm not quite understanding the expectation you're having unmet here. The FFVII Remake style is derived from the aesthetic introduced by AC. It's realistic, attractive and inspired by the striking anime-esque designs of Nomura. It's only updated and given a further boost to its realism thanks to being a fully designed PS4 game. So like, what's the issue here? Were you expecting to actually see them in their AC outfits or something?
If so, I wouldn't lose all hope. I'm sure that'll be an accompanying DLC package down the line
Advent Children as DLC would be cool, but not as cool as On The Way To A Smile DLC.
i'm glad the negro part of the internet is in agreement, because this is the exact first thing i thought when i heard those voicelines. but whilst it is hilarious. as i said. whichever adrd is responsible. electric chair.[video]
Looks like I stand corrected, Beau Billingslea confirmed on his Twitter (first tweet in four years) that was not his voice in the teaser. Shame (if it’s not a placeholder and indeed a recast) I was looking forward to Beau Billingslea getting to do Barret’s more pathos filled scenes.
EDIT: Took a look at George Newbern’s Twitter
Evidence of it just being placeholder voices? (Newbern’s also made a bunch of other ambiguous meaning emoji responses to further inquiries).
So are they placeholders? Or have the voices changed? There are no real answers around at all!
I'm gonna say the latter, since it's been two years since they stated that the voice acting was almost finished, or sometime last year at least. As much as I wish it was just a placeholder and that most of them would be back, it's becoming sadly clear that all of the English voices of the characters have been replaced. Meaning no Beau, no Steve, no George, and that means nore Rachel for Tifa either....and despite him having reprised his role as Lea/Axel in KH3 and that he had been looking forward in reprising his role as Reno, no Quinton Flynn...
I don't think so, Tasha.
If they were uninvolved and their voice talent was not utilized for the FFVII Remake, there would be no reason whatsoever for them to be tight-lipped about it. It's not their work, they are not apart of it.
When an actor who was in a previous film doesn't return for the sequel, he says it right up front and moves on with life. When RE2 Remake was out and people asked if Alyson Court was coming back for Claire, she was up front and said no. Same thing with Steve Burton when asked if he was in KH3, and he just honestly said no.
I think there's more to this than meets the eye. Steve Burton has tweeted out several times in the run up to this trailer he was reprising his role. If that changed, I'm pretty sure he'd say something by now. He'd at least take calling himself "the voice of Cloud," down from his twitter profile.
These very well might be place-holder voices for this trailer, to hide the lines of the final game and are still in post-production or something. It's either that, or there's some bizarre NDA shenanigans going on that S-E has set up to... Prevent individuals from revealing they're not on board a project when they.. Aren't?
The latter doesn't make much sense to me. The former however, does.
That's not really true. That's a bad correlation.
Yeah, well, Hayden had absolutely no clue she wouldn't be reprising her role as Kairi for KH3 nor was even asked to do so either, and while she did have life issues after giving birth to her first child, I think she had by then bounced back a little to reprise her role in a Live-Action TV series she'd starred in. So it's not out of place that all of the Advent Children cast ended up in the same situation she had.
Some people may like the new voice actors in the Remake, but I don't. But that's my opinion.
There's no confirmation that it's not a recasting either, though. I just have this strong feeling that Square decided to just forget about the old English Cast and go with new ones without informing them. It just feels like they want to forget the past like how VIZ Media redubbed the Sailor Moon Anime and leaving the DIC voice acting cast into the darkness to be long forgotten like the late 1990's English Dubbing never existed(and I grew up with the DiC English voice actors).
